new hampshire women to file suit against jehovahs witnesses.
Thanks Marilyn :)
I e-mailed the newspaper(s) and Silentlambs links to newspapers all ove Ohio. I heard back from an editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, expressing his 'disgust' regarding WTBTS policies.
He also viewed Bill's site, and described it as 'heart-wrenching.'
Hopefully, they PD will also put it 'in print.'
This morning, I sent all the info on to Christianity Today magazine, as well as the Christian Science Monitor - publications with large subscriber lists.
Today, I will 'branch out' and contact other newspapers and mags.
AND, yesterday I e-mailed about 9 mainstream churches in Brooklyn Heights with info and links. Hehe, ... right in the WTBTS' own backyard. I have received e-mails from 4 ministers, thanking me, and expressing a 'variety' of opinions about the JW's. Two of the ministers said they were going to make copies of the articles and pass them out to members of their churches, as well as other 'community' groups in the area. Three of them said they have 'written' guidelines and programs relating to pedeophile/child and spousal abuse issues. One of these three said he would contact the local/neighborhood newspaper the "Brooklyn Heights Press" (they have 'done battle' with the WTBTS in the past, especially regarding the 'society's' gobbling up property in the neighborhood) - and he added he would personally pay for a Silentlambs notice to be published.
I think? many of the Bethelites read the 'Heights Press' - so, if they print this info, it may be the first time some of them learn just how extensive and critical the abuse is...as well as headquarter's mandates to cover-up and 'keep within' with no regard for the innocent victims.
Will keep you all informed, if anything further develops.

You be sweet to your wife. My husband wasn't sweet to me, and look how I turned out.
i thought you might like to see a fax i just sent to j. r. brown.
you can also pick it up on the front page of the website, you may also read and download the complaint that states the basis of this lawsuit.
run wt run...... silentlambs.
Silentlambs,
Bill, YES, YES, YES! Before I even posted here, I linked to your site, and have sent the press release/complaint on to seven newspapers here in Ohio...so far. Please, everyone, do the same in your respective areas...the more publicity this issue gets, the better! It matters not if we overlap a little in sending it on to various newspapers.
I also mentioned that Dateline will be airing their program in the Fall. Thought that might encourage the newspapers to want to 'get on the bandwagon' with coverage, too.
Maximus, I checked out attorney Anderson in Martindale-Hubbell; impressive credentials indeed. And the firm has coveted top-ranking "A" listing in M-H directory. He was also recognized in "Lawyers who Get Things Done." IMO, not just a 'big gun' - more like a 'cannon'...aimed right at Brooklyn. :)
great balls of fire!.
this little diddy will be my 3,000th post.. quoting my husband when he finally read a post by me (i made him, btw.
) "2,450 posts!
Waiting,
I vote for: "Supreme Empress" But, am of the personal opinion that any poster who achieves 3,000 posts should be privileged to 'pick' their own title.
So, what say you? What's your choice of 'title?'
Love ya, Supreme Empress.

interesting, a nyc priest has revealed a confession re:murder which has allowed the courts to appeal the outcome,,,all i can find at the moment,,,just happened today.

Gopher,
Thanks for providing a direct link. I'm sure others will also appreciate your thoughtfulness. Makes it so much easier to read!!!! :)
I scan more than a dozen major newspapers daily, particularly to search for blood related issues, and child abuse/molestation articles. However, the 'confession' article did catch my attention. If I see anything
further re this issue, I'll be certain to post it on the forum.

Orb, Cross, Tina & Yuru,
I saw the article a couple of days ago, on the 17th, in "The New York Times."
You need to register (free) to access the article headlined "In Court, a Priest Reveals a Secret...."
I should point out, that the 'confessor' has been dead a few years. Yet, the issue is generating MUCH controversy from a variety of groups.
As you suggested, Tina, it easily could have future implications. Worth the effort and read, IMO. (I had trouble getting a direct link...maybe someone can do so????)
this is my own actual experience from about 1967. .
i was sitting in a california kingdom hall, listening to an anoucement that the .
watchtower society was either taking a loan out, or was stretching payments .

You are so right!!! If they could be truthful, I'm sure many of those 'listeners' don't think it is so funny now.
We had an elderly Swedish sister in our congregation. She was one of the so-called 'anointed'. She was just 22, or so, when the 1925 Rutherford prediction failed...several times she had mentioned to me what a disappointment the 'failure' was to her personally. (She had lost dear family members, Bible Students, during WWI, and felt they would all be happy together in Heaven.)
Her husband had remained Lutheran; he had a very nice little sheet metal business. Due to his success, he was able to my a lovely home, and filled it with beautiful antiques.
He died in the late '60's. "Sister Sweden" lived more than comfortably as a result of his hard work. (But, he was going to die at Armageddon, right?!!)
When it was believed that 1975 would see the "end" she sold her home!!!!
Gave most of the profits to the WTBTS. She then rented a lovely apartment, still filled with her beloved antiques.
When Armageddon didn't happen, she was eventually forced to start selling her antiques, piece-by-piece. Eventually, she had so little money available to her, that she moved into a rooming house...one room, shared bathroom, with a hot plate and mini-refrigerator.
Her health deteriorated rapidly, and she died soon after. I've always wondered what she privately thought about it all.
I'm not sure why I've related her story at this time...something about your post made me think of her. Just another example of tragic results from false Watchtower propaganda.
