  Defender....... I really enjoyed your post as I agree 100% with it. I have experienced all the early generation computers including Timex Sinclair; Radio Shack; and of course as you mentioned the Commodore 64. To this day nothing compares to it for game playing. I recently obtained from Ebay auctions Commodore systems for all my grandchildren. I won bids averaging approximately $20 per system including disk drive and sometimes printers. I had stupidly given away my old system and got a another from Ebay. I am deperately searching for a program called "Little Computer People". Do you happen to have it in your attic. I am paying top dollar for it............ Computers more simple than watches indeed.... sheesh.... ========= Zechariah ========

  I find it beyond comprehension for anyone to buy into the notion that the complexity of a computer and its programming is simpler than that of a watch. Their ridiculous argument is because it allows for variations (evolution) that it is somehow more simple. Anybody who has ever written a computer program no matter how simple knows it requires far more complexity to allow for controlled variation. Here is a simple program as support. Input A; Input B; C = A + B.... The variation would include if A= 2 let B = 4; or if B = 3 let C = 7 ............... Certainly the more controlled variation that exists require more programming complexity and is greater evidence of a intelligent designer. .................. I was inspired with what I consider to be the Ultimate Philosophy of Life. Man as a kind is God's Little Computer People. I understand that our invention of the computer at this significant time in history is no accident. A sign of the time in which we live is a increase of knowledge. This increase is only due to Christs presence in spirit inspiring and providing it as promised Grand Blessings. The computer is the closest thing to Gods own creation of Man. Its inventors were inspired to create these modern technological advances (including the internet) to provide a object lesson to man that he himself is "wonderfully MADE".................. At this unique time in history it is prophecied that all men would know that God (Yahweh) whose name means "He that causes to be" is the Most High (the creator) over all the earth. He through the Christ designed, manufactured, programmed, tested and perfected his Little Computer People just as we have created our inventions. ...................... I plan to shortly delve into my philosophy in greater detail. I could not help but to respond to the ridiculous concept in your post.   I am certain that if JWs had the Civil authority like the Jews of old as a independent nation they would readily put people to death for almost any offense at all. The Mosaic Laws were their justification. ======================= The practice of disfellowshiping began with the Jews when under Roman rule they could no longer independently sentence people to death. =============== The following personal story supports this: ================= My bro-in-law was away serving prison time for an offense for which he was disfellowshiped. In his absence the elders and the congregation in general abused in many ways
  the entire family. I moved to live with the family and tried as the only adult male in the family to intercede in congregation matters so the family would not be taken advantage of in the absence of my bro-in-law an ex elder. In my personal Bible reading I found many many ways the JW elders in our congregation were imitating the bad example of the older men of Israel in the neglect of those in their care. There was an occasion my young neices were being insensitively handled and harrassed on minor matters of conduct. I in anger told the congregation overseer (a truly wicked man) that like the wicked men of Israel spoke of in Malachi chapter 3 they were oppressing the widows and the orphans in the way they were treating my bro-in-law's wife (my sister) and his children. ................. The CO replied that my bro-in-law wasnt dead so how could this scripture apply. I responded "Yes he is and you killed him when you disfellowshiped him. You put him to spiritual death." The CO harshly warned me about my disrespectful tone and the seriousness of my accustion. This was a beginning of my awakening to the cruel insensitive nature of WTS elders and the grossness of their practice of disfellowsipping. ................................ A while later when my bro-in-law was due to be released from prison the wicked CO with another elder made a shepherding call on my mother with whom I was living. I sat in on the meeting to protect my Mom from harrassment. I quickly discovered the purpose of the call was to tell my mother and myself we were obligated and expected to distance ourselves from my sister and her family now that my bro-in-law was coming home. -------------------- I boldly told them that they might feel free to cast stones at someone to put them to death. I mentioned the account in the Bible of the people who were asking Jesus whether a known prostitute should be put to death. Like them I was not without sin as Jesus suggested and therefor was unwilling to participate in the stoning. The whole session went in this fashion as I would not hold my tongue. My legs were black and blue after the brothers left from my mother kicking me under the table every time I opened my mouth. ................................. These are real pleasant memories for me now all leading up to my eventual liberation from Watchtower bondage. ....................... ......... This experience all supports your case that disfellowshiping is indeed beyond what is written.

I quote : "Within 30 years after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Paul wrote that the good news has been preached " has been preached in all creation that is under heaven. This quote is from Col. 1:23. .................   Do you love people more now that you're out?

  i was thinking about this the other day.

  since i've left the borg, i find myself loving other humans more.

  like all the little children being abducted, the miners trapped in the mine last week, the victims of car accidents that i pass on the road, a woman crying in the car next to me while waiting for the green light, the homeless that i see every weekend at a local soup kitchen where i volunteer, etc.

  Most definitely. As a JW I have been conditioned to have little regard for people of the world and its governments. No matter how philanthropic and humanitarian a worldly person may be they regard their accomplishments as of no value to God.

  Men like JFK, Ghandi, MartinL. King, and Nelson Mandela are regarded as having accomplished nothing as compared against the most inactive minister of Jehovah.They soon become extremely pessimistic and mistrustful of any worldly man acting out of love.

  I greatly upset my still loyal JW family by proudly wearing on my jacket a American flag button given me at Mc Donalds. My mother told me "You've really left Jehovah now."

  I vote now. I voted in the last presidential election although my man didn't win

  I have enormous optimism for the world and its governments.

  For many years now I have been sponsoring a Afican child which make me more charitable than anytime in the WTS.

  The unity of love for all humankind is what the Bible prophecies for our day.

  My last Convention attendance was also very memorable. It was I believe 1995 when they release the WTS BOOK OF THE LAW better known as the "What God Really Requires Of Us" broschure. I revealed to my loyal JW mpther sitting beside me the vision I just had of most every one in the audience having yamulkes on the heads. Surely these were modern day Jews following the Laws Of Moses. I fully rationalized at that point the fact that no amount of works can save a man. Only the free gift of God of grace by means of faith. Ever since my motto has been "Give me libery or give me death." If I have to live forever beside self righteous, hypocritically people like JWs who have to be eternal slaves to an idolatrous manmade organization then I welcome the endless sleep of death. My expectation of life based on faith is the only risk worth taking. It is the only acceptable hope for me to have......... Zechariah..... GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH..

  What Would I Have Done?

  in reading the gospels about jesus ministry i cannot help but be moved by his message and manner and i know i am not alone in feeling like this.

  i marvel, smile, and slowly shake my head as i read about the miracles that he performed and have, at one time or other, wished that i could have been there to witness those marvels and to hear his voice.

  perhaps like many others i have also wondered at those people who heard him and yet walked away.

  I fail to understand the indictment being made that the gospel Paul preached was incompatible with that of Jesus Christ. The reality is that Pauls ministry was more in line with Christ new law of love over the Laws of Moses than any other writer of scripture in the New Testament. It is for certain that Pauls commission as apostle was under the direct inspiration of Christ himself. His selection was obviously because of his awareness and appreciation of the ability of Gentiles to be declared righteous by means of faith alone. For this he was made the apostle to the Gentiles.
  I am very curious to know what specifically the people making this indictment see as contradictory in Pauls message.

  What is Independence Day?

  i am the lone ex-jw in my otherwise loyal jw household.

  the change in myself in finally becoming part of the human race has made me realize some amazing things when it comes to july 4.. all the adults in my household (5) could not answer my simple independence day trivia question.

  what is independence day a celebration of.

  I am the lone Ex-JW in my otherwise loyal JW household. The change in myself in finally becoming part of the human race has made me realize some amazing things when it comes to July 4.

  All the adults in my household (5) could not answer my simple Independence Day trivia question. What is Independence Day a celebration of. The responses to the question were both shocking and appalling to me.

  All of my MOM, sister and grown nieces indicated each in their own way that they had no idea what the holiday was celebrating. Further their attitude was one of total apathy and disinterest when I with amazement at their ignorance explained to them the most simple of history lessons.

  I explained. We first fought the Revolutionary War to be free of being the property and colony of Britain. At its end we declared our Independence or freedom from England with the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. We at that time became the United States of AMERICA. No more taxation without representation and finally liberty and justice for all.

  This is much to celebrate I suggested to them all. Their response in each their own terms was to let THEM go right ahead it doesn't mean anything to me. How sad is this attitude for anyone who enjoys the freedoms and benefits of this country to be so unappreciative.

  I am for the first time really celebrating this most significant day. Being liberated from the oppressive Watchtower society gives me full appreciation for what it was like at the time in 1776 to be able to throw it in the face of Britain that she owns you no more. Though I literally wont be celebrating there is already symbolic fireworks going of in my heart and spirit. All because I am now as I am sure most all of you will concur Independent.

  Let me declare it loud. As Martin Luther King prophecied would occur. I am Free at last, Free at last. Great God Almighty I am free at last. Free from Watchtower slavery and the bondage to this significant segment of Babylon The Great.

  Happy Independence Day all you apostates (Independent thinkers)

  Question for gay people

  the question is about the term "tolerance" or "tolerating".. when someone says something along the lines of "i'm very tolerant of gay people" or "gay people should be tolerated", how do you feel?.

  the reason i ask is this: doesn't the concept of tolerating something imply a background negative?

  for instance, i can say "i tolerate my brother-in-law".

  I believe this old post answers the question you posed....

  These are my personal meditations on the subject of homosexuals as christians. I have perceived that the major failing of the Watchtower Society is that it has as the Bible prophecied "stumbled over Christ". That stumbling I understand to be in the sense that they have missed the mark as to the reason Christ came to earth and gave his life on behalf of mankind. They have resisted the awareness that the Christ came to the earth to act in behalf of the sinner and not the righteous man. He would provide with the sacrafice of his human life a new way of having a righteous relationship with God besides that of being good enough. The old law (Mosaic Law/Ten Commandments) demanded that everyone prove faithful to the law in personal deeds or acts or suffer the punishment of death. This was always a impossible burden because under the law all are condemned to death. It is only under the law that any person could earn a label of a thief, murderer, HOMOSEXUAL, etc. In examining the Bible to
  try to ascertain God's opinion about homosexuality I can clearly understand than in instituting the new law of love to replace the law code he was delivering the message he wished to have no opinion of this and would not judge this by the deed only but rather by the extent of ones love for him and his fellow man. Peter recieved a vision of unclean animals wherein he is told to eat and not call the things he has cleansed unclean. This means a great deal more than
  it is now okay to eat pork. It is making the unbelievable statement to most people that it is not what we do by which God judges us but by the love we show.

  This understanding of how the Mosaic Laws were done away with gives us new insight in understanding the main scripture used against homosexuals in the book of Matthews chapter 6 starting with verse 9.

  kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

  comment- Certainly this is not saying that anyone with any longterm problem with addiction or spiritual or moral disease would be instantly free from his problem. No but he is made instantly righteous by eliminating the law which condemns him. The only way man can keep from breaking the law is to have no law to break. Though nothing about him has really changed the murderer, the thief, and the homosexual have been washed clean and are acceptable to God on the basis of their faith in God alone.

  This can not be used to imply that God is endorsing any behavior as certainly he doesn't favor murder and theft. But he has chosen to ignore these blemishes in imperfect man by choosing to no longer consider them a criteria for judging them righteous. Therefore men can never be righteous by faithfully keeping the law. That is impossible. Righteousness can only be by declaration of God based on our faith. Just as keeping the laws regarding circumcision and the sabbath no longer has any bearing on ones becoming christian so to being homosexual has no bearing on their salvation and status as a christian. The bond of union of a christian is only not deeds but spirit (faith and love).
