Disfellowshipping.....To Protect The Cong?!
by ISP inthats often the reason given by the wts.
yet bill bowen faces excommunication whilst 23,000+ paedophiles remain in the association of jehovah's witnesses.
the wts could hardly care less what happens to little children or what evil pervades the kingdom halls as long as no one tries to disturb the ether.. isp

THE BIG DEEELIMA FACING YOU KNOW
by MegaDude inyou know, a frequent poster here, is a mentally deranged semi-jehovah's witness with serious mental problems.
he has serious issues with the watchtower, thus negating his effectiveness as a jw.
he has no responsibility in his own congregation because he is regarded as "strange.

I remember Mr. Coffee - You must have been at Patterson as a JW, right? That guy was a riot - shouting at everyone on their way to breakfast!

Blood Part 01 - The History of the Blood Doctrine
by JanH inthe history of the blood doctrine.
since a jehovah's witness (hereafter: jw) who refuses blood bases his or her decision on trust in the wisdom and divine leadership of the watch tower society (hereafter: wts), it will be instructive to look at the record of the wts in dealing with medical questions.
the current application of certain bible texts, notably acts 15:28,29, to support a blood prohibition for christians was not shared by its founder, charles taze russell.

New here
by EMTmom infirst i just want to say how much this forum has helped me.
i get on here every day and read what's new.
i am 27 years old and have been married since i was 18 (since there isn't anything else for a good sister to do besides get married or pioneer and i wasn't about to pioneer.

(((WELCOME))). My husband and I were both regular pioneers. Then, my husband returned from pioneer school and said he would never set foot in the Kingdom Hall again - he said he had finally seen the light of hypocracy.
Needless to say - I was upset and floored. I continued going to meetings and played the roll of the wife whose wicked husband had DA'd himself. But, finally, through my stubborness I began to see that the points he was making to me were correct. I also began to realize that I had always been treated as "not quite worthy" by the organization and now was being labeled as the sister who needed help because of what had happened. So I finally left as well - the evidence was too great to ignore.
That was over 7 years ago....
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, stand up for how you truly feel - you never know.

The Meaning of Names....?
by SpiceItUp inthere are some that are obvious and then others that just baffle me to no end..... yes i am talking about your user names.... do any of you have stories behind them or are they significant for some reason or are they just a word you made up?.
mine...well its easy.... i got the nickname of spicy back in nov of last year when i dyed my hair this crazy red color and the name of the color was "spiced ginger".
the rest of it is because i love to make things more interesting---- sorta of like adding a bit of spice to the stew (hopefully i come across as that as well .

Mine was a nobrainer for me to make up ... zen because I am heavily involved in Taoism, Zen, and Native American Spirituality ... punk because I've dressed like a goth/punk for as long as I remember (even to the Kingdom Hall - no wonder I was avoided like the plague). I too had "spicy hair", but I change the color frequently. Currently it's jet black.
Plus - zen and punk are contradictions, just like the paradoxical person that I am.

Would/Do you wear a Cross around your neck ??
by Prisca inafter all that we had drummed into us about not the cross, and particularly about not venerating the symbol itself, i have been wondering about this issue.. so, what are your views about wearing a cross around your neck ?
is it just a fashion accessory, or does it mean something to you ?.
inquiring minds would like to know

I don't think I would wear a cross for the same reason Windchaser mentioned. Why should I wear a reminder of Jesus's torture. However, my house is full of other Eastern and Native American spiritual relics and idols.

I just finished "The Story of B" by Daniel Quinn. It basically about a Catholic Priest sent to investigate a lecturer in Europe who may be the Antichrist. I won't give away any more of it, but there were definately some interesting theories about the belief structure of the last 4000 years being an evolutionary flaw.

1000 asked to leave Brooklyn Bethel!
by cyberguy in1000 were asked to leave brooklyn bethel (actually, this includes the farm and patterson) "voluntarily!
" only 6 replied to the request in the last 3 weeks.
it looks like the "waters" of bethel are drying up, or rather, their revenues are drying up!

My parents told me months ago that there was some serious downsizing going on (in the days before they thought I was a big evil apostate). Many were sent home except for the few that had a special skill or were there for years. I feel bad for these misguided people, thinking they would be at Bethel for as long as they were "good". With no college, they don't have much hope in this downsizing world.
