I think it's a little from column A and a little from column B. A being genetics and B being environment. There may be a certain bad trait below the surface but a right set of circumstances can bring it out. Take the X Y Y theory and serial killers for example. Not all males with X Y Y chromosones become serial killers but almost all who have been examined after the fact noticed a combination of these genetics and a bad sequence of life experiences.

Is EVIL a gene thing??
by Crystal in(cbs) a weekly commentary by cbs news correspondent andy rooney:.
do you buy this...evil is a gene thing?.
last week, i read where scientists think the human ability to use language comes from a gene we have that animals don't have.

Amazing - You are so right!
However, I don't think brothers and sisters will hide their affiliation due to the scandal. Most witnesses I've heard talk about it say that the media is just blowing everything out of proportion and Satan is turning against them because they are so close to the end.

Do zealous witnesses make zealous apostates?
by sleepy inwhat were you like as a jw and how does that compare to now?.
were you an elder , min servant(if a bloke)or, pioneer, regular publisher ,iregular , almost never there?.
now what are you like as an apostate?very active as one, quite active or not much bothered.. are you as zealous in the opposite sense, as you were as a witness or have you changed?.

I was a regular pioneer for 4 years. I'm a somewhat zealous apostate as well, when the opportunity to "anti-witness" presents itself.

Being part Eastern European and part Native American, it is a continual genetic struggle to keep weight off. I really have to watch myself. I am at the gym at least 1 1/2 hours a day, five days a week and any kind of junk food is completely out of the question. I find the Weight Watchers system of five or six small meals a day instead of three big ones really works as well. It's hard work and willpower but it's worth it to desparately cling on to that size 5. Don't give up!

Does power corrupt?
by sleepy in.
most of the people i knew as witnesses were nice people with genuine motives.. in fact those with obvious personnallity flaws, would not , in my congregation anyway , be made servants or elders.. but i wonder did the postion attained in the org actually change the people who were chosen?.
does the extra respect , power and aurthority over others cause changes in a person makeup they can not help?.

That's exactly what I was thinking of HbH. It's true, you see this all the time in corporate America. The perfectly nice guy turns into an arrogant prick once he/she is boss. The same can be true in the congregation.
Edited because I can't spell.

Do Jws help disfellowshipped ones or apostates?
by haujobbz in.
do you think that, if say you fell over and and seriously injured yourself in the street, would a jw you knew passing by help you knowing that you were disfellowshipped or so called apostate.
maybe even come to see you at home if you were unwell or depressed,i mean how many witnesses have assisted or helped you when you needed it mostly, you see i thought they were supposed to encourage you to become so called spiritually stronger.but saying that when you were active as a jw do you think you were helped in times of distress or illness by your fellow jw,for instance i know a woman who's still a witness but hasnt been to meetings for say a year and thats because she has severe athritis and guess what only 1 j-dub has wrote to her so to her it seems like if your not a regular at meeting you may as well be classed as disfellowshipped.

To be blunt, no one has ever come and asked me if I needed help - even at my darkest depression hours. I was told as a Witness that the world is where cruelty lies, but they were wrong.

In the mid 90s I met Billy Bob Thorton just after his first famous movie came out.
A couple of weeks ago I was in Chelsea and bumped into Whoopie Goldberg. She looks exactly the same in real life and is real down to earth.

People at work have told me that I'm like that red-headed girl on six-feet-under. Not the one that sleeps with everyone, the strange daughter character. I can't think of her name.

That whole clapping thing is such Cult behavior - get the mass contageion rolling! The speaker would say, "isn't it wonderful how Jehovah provides bla bla bla" and everyone would just have to get clapping!
