I adopted a full blooded APBT from the Humane society about a year and a half ago. It was the best decision our family ever made. She is a wonderful companion. We went with her to obedience classes in the first few months and watched a lot of Dog Whisperer. She is a good well-balanced dog, she's the perfect anti-depressant, its hard to feel sad when someone is so happy to see you come home from work.

I love how he goes on about he's not the type to get drunk - sounds like a closet alcoholic to me - he mentions it twice!

How many of you Ex Jehovah's Witnesses married early and it was a disaster?
by isnrblog inwhat a common tale.
you marry early becasue you can't have sex.. i was married at 19 and divorced at 50. the only thing that held it together was our involvement in the jw's.
otherwise it would have been over in less than 5 years.. my kids are not witnesses and have a terrible relationship with their mother, as she is always trying to shove it down their throats.. this is still happening.

My husband and I are separating after 14 years. We got married in the KH and both left the organization. We are getting legally separated, we know we can't live together right now.

27 days sober...In new territory
by digderidoo ini would just like to give an update on my sobriety, as i have had one or two pms regarding it.. this time last year i went almost 4 weeks without a drink but found it incredibly hard each day, so eventually went out one night to see a live band in a pub and started to drink again.
this time feels different, in that i have the support of the aa and people pn this board to help me out.
i am not saying it has been easy but i have felt better for it.

I am coming up to 60 days on Sunday - I came down off of a massive drug and alcohol habit. Having my parents join the WT when I was 9 years old and going from a happy fun life to a horrible life, then leaving it behind when I was in my 20s with no friends and no family had a lot to do with turning to drugs. Now I'm in outpatient rehab, attend NA, and am in therapy. Good luck to you...it can be done. Especially when you fill life with new things with new sober people.

Is there a big announcement in the October WT or Awake?
by zenpunk inapparently my mother in law decided to stop tivo-ing her episodes of coronation street because of something she read in the magazine, but would not share with her apostate son and his wife.
any ideas what it could be?
she said it was big news that changed her thinking on a lot of things, including the fact that she would not give us a ride down to london to visit her other son, who happens to be gay and proud.

Thanks, just figured I'd check, just a matter of time before I'm on the outs as well if she's started some personal crusade. But no biggie, my blood-related JW family disowned me almost a decade ago.

In the past she was a lot more compromising.

I'm in a position to make a very difficult decision...
by FreedomFrog inok, here's the thing.... i have a 2004 ford taurus.
it's really nice with sun roof /power seats/heated side mirrors/the works and it's mine but with a payment of $310.
i was just offered to take a 1995 saturn (still runs decent) for the taurus but with the '95 i will not have a payment though there will be more maintenance on it.. i love my taurus, it makes me feel like i'm still human but i'm very much strapped with finances.

Saturns are horrible cars - make sure you have made arrangements to deal with lots of repairs....I know this from experience. I take good care of my cars and bought into the "made in America" hype. It was the worst car I ever owned and the only one I bought brand new. I know of a few other people at work that had the same bad experience as me.

Vegetarian Question
by ColdRedRain inhey, i just became a vegetarian and i'm wondering how do you stop yourself from getting lightheaded?
i'm always getting lightheaded after i work out and i'm fearing i might have to eat meat.

There is a vitamin I take called "from the earth" designed specifically for vegetarians. Most vegetarians get a B12 / B6 vitamin deficiency, which can lead to lightheadedness. I've been there...this will help. Also make sure you are getting enough proteins like tempeh, as opposed to soy.
