ok, lets have a discussion about where we all came from, evolution or creation?

(or whatever you beleive in of course) every one put down there main reasons, along with reasonable facts and backup as to why.. .

ok well this is one of those topics that's pretty much common knowledge.. the earth is warming, the ice is melting and sea levels are rising.. a) do you think we'll be able to take care of it before it becomes irreversible?.

b) do you make decisions in your life that reflect a concern for this issue and/or other environmentalist issues?.

i try to make sure we recycle and turn off what isn't being used.

There are 4 things capable of warming the planet on a GLOBAL scale:

1)Greenhouse gases

2)The sun

3)Milankovich cycles (changes in the earths eliptical orbit etc)

4)The movement of the continents

Solar radiation isnt a factor (no there aint no global warming on mars either). Not Milankovich cycles. Nope, not the continents. No super volacano has errupted. Just to add, the medieval ice-age and warming period are a myth; they represent a LOCALISED phenomenon.

We know co2 has a warming effect. We know we have been responsible for a net increase in GHGs. We know that the Earth has been warming on a global scale (not talking about localised phenomenom). hmmm. 2+2 guys.

I wonder if he is rethinking his ideas of ferreting tourists into space by 2020 or something. Never found that idea very environmentally responsible to be totally honest.

The growth in aviation is a problem with regards to greenhouse. It has an added forcing effect because it creates additional water vapour that further warms the planet. But demand seems to be going on unabated at the minute. Some people have suggested that planes might have to start flying lower to counter the impact somewhat.

Anyway...good on Branson. But its long overdue thats these guys did something I cant help but feel.

Not sure about ethanol either. It means converting land thats devoted to the production of food for people to eat (duh!) to the production of fuel. The world is currently in net food surplus (though some people wouldnt know it). Thats tipped to change to a deficit in this century. Converting land to fuel production will further exacerbate that problem.

Id rather see planes flying around with big solar panels on them. But i dont think thats technologically feasible.

God says: "A father shall no be punished for the sins of the son, nor the son be punished for the sins of the father. Each should be put to death for their own sin."

God kills Davids son because of something David did: adultery. God kills 70000 innocent people because David decided to take a census of Israel, which God told him to do....or was it Satan? God approves the putting to death of an entire family (donkeys and pets included) by them being thrown off a cliff, if remember correctly.

the bible is a man-made document full of errors, inconsistencies, and stoopid stuff. But on the off chance God did inspire it, then we can safely say he is MAD.

Having said that. The bible has some worth. There is some wise stuff in it. Some good stories. A story doesn't have to be true to have meaning u know!

Why would God need worship?

why would an all knowing master of space and time feel the irrepressible need to be adored by mere insects (relatively speaking), and indeed punish them in the most absolute of terms if they fail in this task?

indeed it makes god seem very human, although rather immaturely so.

we expect such behavior from schoolyard bullies, megalomaniac dictators and small children who demand adoration from their beaten dogs.

depends what worship is? If worship = loyalty, then I can sort of understand. But then again i dont really get a God who needs people to go kill animals and put them on an altar etc etc. Thats a crazy kind of loyalty for me. But, u know, rituals and symbols can powerful things I believe. Maybe God demands worship for our own benefit and not for his. I'm a non-believer anyaway, so i dont care

for starters, here are a couple of links to on-line ecological footprint calculators that only take a couple of minutes to punch in basic data to get back a rough environmental impact assessment on how sustainable your lifestyle is.

There is a growing call for nuclear power to replace fossil fuels as stop-gap measure to counter Global warming while move environmentally friendly energy technologyis developed. Even former prominient environmentalist are advocating this.

For me, Oil will run out in the 100years, but people will have to stop consuming it to the degree they do before then owing to Global warming. But then again there is always some loony who denies that oil will keep being discovered and that Global warming is a myth. So I guess if those people keep being heard you can forget about it...

Al-qaida letting off a nuke? To be honest Idont think they are as capable an organization as some say. They might be able to let off a "dirty bomb", but it wont be theend of America. I'd be more concerned about Biological warefare. I'd be more concerned about the bird flu virus mutating, Global warming and Global Dimming....Hell, the super volcano under Yellowstone might explode and that'd be the end of you guys
