They choose your job, they choose the company where you work and you're still working for the government," says Abdu Mohamud. Mohamud is an Iraqi-born man who is taking a bold move, speaking out against life in Iraq -- the same courage it took to leave his home country in 1978 to work at Phillips in Bartlesville.
"I would be hanged if they found out I was going to the U.S. and not coming back," he said.
Up until 1992, the Iraqi government had a hanging judgement for Abdu. He could not return without being killed. But now, the father of seven enjoys life in America and the freedom of being his daughter's soccer coach.
"People of this country don't know the value of the freedom they have," Mohamud says. "Let someone look wrong at the picture of Saddam and they will kill him."

YELLOW RIBBON : Show your support!
by email ina lot of us can have different opinions about going war... some can support it... other can protest it... and thats what freedom of speech is all about.
but there's a threshold and we're past that threshold... we're at war.
so no matter what your opinions were before or even now no one can change the fact that we are at war and that won't change no matter how much those that oppose it try.

This was an excellent idea! The protesters get to express thier hate for our government and soldiers but we can't express our support with a yellow ribbon?....typical.How can a good thing be bad? The "impeach Bush" thing has been up for months now....

Have you ever been harrassed or stalked on the internet? What did you do and what was the outcome?
If You’re a Victim…
Don’t respond directly to offenders. “If you reply to them,” says Parry Aftab, executive director of Cyberangels, an Internet safety organization, “you give them the attention they want.”
Instead, you should:
Reach out to a help group. Cyberangels, for example, has a team that can help you put an end to the cyberstalking — and find and prosecute stalkers.
Notify local police. “This is especially important if you think you may be in physical danger,” warns Detective Mike Sullivan of the Naperville County Police Department. “Although not all law enforcement agencies are fully equipped to handle these cases,” he adds, “they can direct you to resources that are.”
Contact the offender’s Internet service provider. Almost all ISPs have terms of service that don’t allow the transmission of content that is harassing. But, advises Aftab, “If the ISP terminates a stalker’s account, then you may find yourself dealing with an angry stalker who’s merely using a different service provider to harass you. So it may be best to reach out for other help.”
Take online threats seriously. “As serious as you would any kind of threat in the offline world,” says Nicholas Graham, spokesperson for America Online. “These cases tend to escalate — not go away,” adds Detective Sullivan, “especially when dealing with a child’s safety.”
Keep tangible evidence. Even though online harassment may leave an electronic trail, you should save and print offending messages as proof.
Get Internet savvy. You are less likely to be a target of cyberstalking if you’re an experienced Internet user.
Safeguard your personal data — both on and off the Web. “With just a little information about you,” says Detective Sullivan, “an experienced stalker can easily take his threats from the Web to the offline world.” -

Yeah, right Realist! This is how peacful they are in SF.
Some protesters were clearly prepared for violence. Sheriff Michael Hennessey said some demonstrators fired bolts from slingshots, and others slashed the tires of squad cars. Police clearing a mob from Seventh and Mission streets early in the afternoon came away with a haul of pipe wrenches, rocks and other makeshift weapons.
"These are supposedly peaceful protesters," one officer said.

Racing into Iraq -- Rage in S.F. streets
PROTESTS: 1,400 arrested in 16 hours
Nanette Asimov, Michael Cabanatuan, Chuck Squatriglia, Chronicle Staff WritersFriday, March 21, 2003 San Francisco -- Sirens wailed through downtown San Francisco and helicopters whirred above it all day Thursday as anti-war protesters poured into the city by the thousands and seized streets, blocked buildings and left beleaguered police and commuters fuming.
Authorities described the day's demonstrations, which began peacefully before dawn and grew increasingly antagonistic and occasionally violent as the day wore on, as the largest seen in years.
