Quite a few people in our congregation know of these events now. I wonder who knows in the new congregation that there is a pedophile among them?

I found out that a pedophile was among us
by stichione intoday i found out that in our congregation a married man was accused by his nephew (not a jw) of pedophile acts commited over 10 years ago.
the accusation came out only two years ago when the nephew grew up.
the grandmother of this youngster (mother-in-law of the accused) approached the elders of her congregation with this information.

Today I found out that in our congregation a married man was accused by his nephew (not a JW) of pedophile acts commited over 10 years ago. The accusation came out only two years ago when the nephew grew up.
The grandmother of this youngster (mother-in-law of the accused) approached the elders of her congregation with this information. What did the elders tell her? To let it rest and it will blow away. (These events took place in Canada, where apparently it is mandatory for the clergy to report child molestation to police in all provinces).
The wife of the accused approached the elders (a different congregation from that of the grandmother of the youngster) and informed them of what happened. Although I don't have all the information, it appers these elders also did nothing. The couple then moved to another congregation.
What infuriates me is that this fellow, for 1 year during this period of accusation, attended meetings with the rest of us. NOBODY outside the family was aware of the details of these events, except for the elders. I have 3 boys all under 11 that I would bring with me to all the meetings (I only go Sundays now). I can't even imagine the dangers I put my sons by letting them walk around the hall unsupervised before and after meetings.
The elders did not find it appropriate to warn the parents in the congregation that there was a potential problem of pedophilia and to watch their kids.
I'm disgusted!

I just got the 2003 Yearbook of Jehovah's Witnesses. On page 30, they're described as "All are members of the Worldwide Order of Special Full-Time Servants of Jehovah's Witnesses".
In the 2002 Yearbook also on page 30, they're described as "All are members of the Order of Special Full-Time Servants." Small change there.

JWs Uneducated (Unejamakatud?)
by Marcos inmy formal education ended with high school.
i did a couple of semesters of college work but it really doesnt count.
i believe that almost any kind of legal employment is honorable depending on how we approach it.

When I personally think of JW's as uneducated, it is because my peers who grew up in the 70's as Dubs were told that higher education was unnecessary since the world was coming to an end in 1975. Check the following link out:
http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/education.htm
So many of these young Dubs I know did not go to college after high school, and now 20-25 years later have gone from job to job, never been able to hold steady work, never being able to aspire to do interesting and paying work.

"2008" End of this system...??
by breeze inmy theory
maybe the org was right with all of their predictions about the timeline of 607bc 1914?
except for the small difference, the time that jesus spent on the earth was exempt from the calculations?

This prediction *ullshi* is pure garbage. It should be left to the false prophets of the Watchtower.

Serving Shoulder to Shoulder - Jan 25 Study Articl
by jgnat ini have seen gossip and innuendo split a church and wound a good man.
this was my church, and i loved it dearly.
the whispered conversations late in the night were distressing and disturbing.

I found nauseating the amount of times the same brainwashing expressions were used in this study, the same technique used in all study articles:
-Serving shoulder to shoulder
-harmoniously
-unitedly
-loyal to him and to one another
-a united family
-family-like arrangement
-harmony
-we need one anotherThis is good cult-like indoctrination.

I was in an apartment building today and saw a sign on a door:
NO PEDDLARS
NO JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
I AM DISASSOCIATEDNow that's interesting. One way not to have the mindless drones of the BOrg knocking on your door is letting them know that you are df'd or da'd. Even if it's a lie.
Spread this "good news" to all your friends and family members!

I was involved also in one. Strangely enough, the two congregations had to be merged again after about 3 years due to fade-aways and move-aways.

by whyhideit inyears ago i was watching a modern twilight zone, which was titled something like "the invisible man.

I saw that episode when I was still a Dub. I immediately saw the analogy with the Watchtower doctrine of shunning.

The Two Towers
by Xander injust saw this.. great movie.
not as good as book, but about matches it roughly as good as fellowship matched the book.. gollum is class act - for those worried the little cgi creature wouldn't work, don't be!
he looks great - and the voice acting is dead one.. won't say too much, as spoilers might ruin it for some, but you really, really should see the extended edition dvd of the fellowship before seeing this movie.

I saw it last night too.
The battle scenes with the Uruk-Hai and the Ents are truly spectacular.
And Gollum as a CGI was very well done, comical too.A must see!!
