  I seem to recall the Q arising when I was a dub and the answer given was that Jehovah would reassemble the person from the same ashes and dust that the corpse had become.

  No, I think that is the traditional resurrection belief, that the former body is reconsituted. I recall the Society always argued that the body cannot be reconstituted because it has become incorporated into other living things. They viewed the body as a completely new recreation (necessitating a quasi-docetist belief regarding Jesus' post-resurrection appearances).

  did anyone catch the looney toons marathon the other week on boomerang?

  i have to say that i always thought disney mickey mouse cartoons sucked and were never funny to me.

  who would you rather watch -- mickey or bugs bunny?

  Disney tunes never did a thing for me, and Mickey Mouse is nothing but a greedy entraprenuer.

  I wouldn't expect much else from Mr. Walter Disney, would you? Note how the flagship characters embody so much of creators' personalities: Jim Henson's in Kermit the Frog, Mr. Rogers' in King Friday, etc. I always thought tho that it was Donald (or was it his father) that was so money-obsessed, counting it all the time.

  What's with the conspiracy of silence over this guy? The Wright Brothers had to bask in his glory and now he's almost totally forgotten. Sure he didn't technically invent the airplane, but look at what he did! He had already been using his motorized flying machine for regular nightly transportation to restaurants and nightclubs (tying his machine to light posts) by the time Orville and Wilbur managed to get their rickety awkward aeroplane a few feet above the Kitty Hawk beach!

  I agree Disney has been more prolific but they have put out some bad stuff trying to capitalize on the Disney name.

  Like Return to Neverland? Cinderella II? Do you remember that Smigel Saturday Night Live commerical for a Disney Bambi 2002 sequel movie -- that was hilarious. Half the animation was recycled from the original, mother deer came back seemingly from the dead ("It was just a flesh wound, dear," she tells Bambi), with new hip hop songs, Bambi fighting terrorists by kicking them with hoofs as the other forest animals chant "U.S.A., U.S.A," dodging hunter's bullets a la The Matrix, the TV spot narrator extolling the movie's "high-powered Disney action"....

  The Warner Bros. stuff lately seems to be pretty lousy too tho. The Muppets, tho, THEY'VE remained consistently good.

  Sponge Bob is pleasant. During the '90s I liked Ren and Stimpy too. BTW -- are there toons you really HATE? I'm lukewarm on Mickey Mouse. Quite boring, but I didn't outright loathe the cartoons. But I absolutely couldn't stand Tom and Jerry. It got me mad how unfair it was to the poor cat who was always misunderstood and the damn mouse always got away with murder. I still feel outraged at it when I think about it.... (couldn't have anything to do with the fact that i was a misunderstood kid, huh?)

  That's not some sort of soul you're talking about is it?

  Haha, yeah, it wasn't exactly kosher WT doctrine. I distinguished it in my mind tho by thinking that the soul is spirit+body, while the spirit that goes back to God is unconscious and has no independent existence from God apart from the body, like an eternal soul. It has an imprint of my personality and memory but if not sent back into a new body in the resurrection it could just as well become subsumed into God's active force. Totally private belief on my part and I was just trying to reconcile WT teaching with what I saw as Bible teaching and common sense.

  The replicants in the movie Blade Runner made me think about the same thing. Even when I was 8 years old, and I read about the WT resurrection doctrine for the first time at the book study (remember the Life book?), I thought to myself, "But that would not be me! It would just be someone who looks like me who thinks she's me." To reconcile this, even though I was a faithful witness, I developed my own private doctrine about the resurrection: the "spirit" that goes to God after death (according to Eccl. and Ps.) remains an individual spirit (tho sleeping in death and unconscious) and God will return THAT spirit to a recreated body during the resurrection. That made more sense to me. --Leolaia
