its funny that when i imagine what other posters look like - i alway imagine them as attractive, fit, well groomed, with bright, shiny happy faces.
i never see them as obese, nerdy, or with greasy hair and warts and pimples.
their noses are never too big - no body has a "comb-over.

i really think silent film is a lost art that is still somewhat valid.
my favorite is metropolis.
Eraserhead isn't a silent film - but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

steelers v. jaguars just ended.
wow, my pulse is pounding.
i haven't felt like this about football since we went to the superbowl in 1995. wow.
All I ever see is a group of guys holding each other.
In Europe, that's pretty common, especially in Gay Paris and certain parts of London...
Glad to see the stiller contingent is alive and well on JWD! Keep the faith, yinz. sev, I had no idea you were a steeler fan!
Cowher's jaw was HUGE after some of those atrocious penalties we incurred last night. There was spit flying EVERYwhere when Joey Porter screwed up royally and nearly got us killed.

It was still a damned good game. reminded me about why I watch it. Most games are boring, lopsided. But every once in a while, you get that nailbiter.
Hey bigTex, how are your cowboys doing this year? Are they 10-1, like my Steelers? What's that? I can't hear you from down in the basement!

wts has quite a few traits which are typical of totalitarian systems.
many of them have been demonstrated on this board (labeling, shunning, monopoly on truth, propaganda, indoctrination, polarization of reality etc.)..
there is one more aspect of the wts religion which can also be observed in most totalitarian systems and that is the system of granting privileges.
The two columns thing was impressive!
Come on guys, wouldn't you like to promoted to the positions of mighty "princes" in God's Kingdom? Think of all the privileges and getting direct revelations from Christ's brothers - who will be then ruling the earth from heaven....
Hell, I can smoke up and get a revelation NOW. And I rule my cats with an iron fist!
LOL!

last night my honey and i watched the program about pharoah on discovery channel.. they did facial reconstruction of pharoah and his sons heads...
anyway..in it they discussed how monotheism began with the egyptians.. that led to my honey and i talking about how people worshipped "god" in isolated areas thruout history before christianity or any other religions came to them.
what we know of history people would have rain gods, sun gods, earth gods , fertility gods etc.
There was an article in Newsweek or Time recently that drew the connection between a certain gene and the need for worship. It also provided a link between certain states of mind and the religious euphoria that many experience. Brain activity in a certain area = a religious experience; but I don't know what it proves.
Of course, anything that physically proves a need for a God gets assaulted both from the ardent materialists - who want to believe that spirituality is a disease, and the fervent spiritualists, who want to believe that certain areas of human life are completely devoid from interaction with the body.

i was talking to a ministerial servant last week, and he said that a bethel elder told him the reason why the 2004 annual service report was .
delayed, was because of man power problems.
they simply don't have enough staff at the us branch, because the annual report is already .
I would say that cashflow problems outweigh the manpower issues. Sixofnine's speculation that they are shifting from publishing / mind control and getting into high-level real estate development sounds right. As a "religion", almost everything they do is tax-free; and they can develop property with slave labor and sell it at a huge profit. Being a religion, I think their books are either closed or inscrutable under their layers of corporations.
It's really quite slick; and with their butt buddies at the U.N. I bet they are doing the same thing in major cities all over the world. No wonder the Russians hate them - they got to live without them for generations and suddenly they roll in, flashing their cash and buying up properties and selling them without paying any taxes. And every time the government tries to call them on it, the EU and the UN denounce that government for "religious discrimination." Look at France...
Given the levels of corruption being exposed at the U.N. right now, I wouldn't be surprised if a little digging didn't turn up a kickback to the Human Rights commission every time they denounced Georgia, Russia, or France. Or Greece, even... The WT is always publishing about how they got awards of various kinds from the one-Worlder crowd...
WOW! I should start my own e-watchman style website.
