  What affect did the Watchtower have on your emotional health?

  jehovah's witnesses or staying within the confines of the organization?.

  Being raised in the truth I feel that the biggest thing was the abnormal set of coping tools they give youth to deal with their problems.

  Of course, developing friendships is strictly curtailed, monitored even in the truth, and natural friendships with worldlings are difficult if not nonexistent. When stressed or troubled, youth are sent to the elders, who at best are well-meaning but unskilled. Sometimes, they are strict, unforgiving, and then create more problems because they are dedicated to the organization and its reputation rather than the young people's welfare and spiritual development. Even worse, some are just so stupid and unprofessional, immature and warped themselves, that they give in to their emotions and do terrible things. At worst, as we have seen, they are predatory, abusive, and evil.

  So dealing with emotions is difficult for me, even now.

  Why no Kingdom Ministries???

  when i was disfellowshipped, the elders told me i could have copies of the watchtower and awake and any publications for bookstudy etc, but could not have a kingdom ministry...does anyone know why that rule???

  Oh. I feel bad. I really do. So below I have created a Universal Kingdom Ministry School Template:

  5 min: Announcements (Include suspicious numbers of growth in countries not locatable on any map)

  10 min: Demonstration of Unlikely Conversations

  10 min: Crude Psychological Manipulation Techniques

  20 min: Thinly Veiled Browbeating for Donations

  Poorly Sung Ripped-off-from-1930's-Top-Twenty-List Song and then the Concluding Lecture to the Congregation While Everybody Is Trapped With Their Eyes Shut.

  See? Easy peasy.

  Alone With the Opposite Sex

  over the last few months i have been training three different men for backup position of my job.. we are alone in my car all day.. as a jw, i remember one time, needing to go to another congo in a different town to work on a part at an assembly.

  i was to ride with the brother doing the part.

  he was probably at least 30+ years older than me.

  The funny thing is that this conditioning created a state of mind, for me, where ANY time I was alone with a woman, even by accident, I felt an enormous pressure (haha) to initiate sexual relations, whether it was a good idea or not.

  It was like being alone = sexual misconduct, therefore, if I am alone with a woman... heh heh heh... Maybe this mindset is why so many JW's become so incredibly promiscuous after df'ing?

  Just to point out some obvious facts about the government (for whom I work):

  1) they will happily spend thousands of dollars figuring out who to blame for losing a seven dollar screwdriver.

  2) They can't even keep personal information of millions of veterans safe, instead letting an employee take it home on a laptop - where it was stolen.

  3) Their major contributions include the Sacajawea dollar, the Susan B. Anthony dollar, and the conversion to the metric system. None of which have been even remotely successful.

  4) The complexity of rallying nineteen highly motivated, trained, martyrdom-inclined young men to steer planes into buildings pales in comparison with getting enough cordite into the WTC to utterly destroy it - not to mention THEN having to get nineteen young men to perform a redundant action. They just aren't that good. If they were, you'd never know about it.

  5) while jet fuel might not melt steel, it will certainly soften it and then the structure will collapse under the weight - study the engineering of modern skyscrapers and you'll see how little is holding you up.

  5) I appreciate you wanting to explore all angles, but think - the simplest way there is the easiest way there. This administration no doubt wanted to go to war - but think about it! They didn't HAVE to blow up 3000 Americans to do it. Remember the Maine... eh?

  i googled jesus and found these pictures of what he may have looked like.. here are a few pictures i saw that didn't match what i expected jesus to look like.

  Only somebody trying to create an alternate reality would deny that this UN involvement represents an act of monumental hypocrisy!

  Remember, they are the ones who force school-age children to refuse to salute the flags of their nations or sing the national anthems - minor acts of genuflection to the natural patriotic instinct, but would happily take upon themselves the commission to portray the UN in a favorable light - with its Nimrod like intentions of world domination.

  They are the ones who call even cutting Thanksgiving turkeys out of construction paper an unholy act that pleases the demons! They are the ones who would disfellowship you for taking a blood transfusion, registering to vote, or cooperating with compulsory military service. They are the ones who claim to Judge for Jehovah - their quote. It's utter folly to judge them by any other standard! let them be measured by the same standards they have used to control and dominate! Be as merciless as THEY were the day they threw out so many of us like garbage.

  How much abuse will it take for people like 3rdwitness to start thinking for themselves? Even the damned dream of heaven, but you seem as blind as a Pharisee to the freedom outside the Tower!

  in a recent poll students rated global warming as their number one concern for the future.

  i guess terrorism comes in also at the top of the list.

  neither of these are included as signs of the last days.

  Not to hijack the thread, but I don't believe in it either.

  But I'd like to point out that these "signs" of JEsus presence that are so often quoted come from a passage in Matthew and Luke - and in that same passage Jesus specifically says that his followers are NOT to be alarmed by things like earthquakes, wars, etc. because these things have always happened and always will happen - and are just a beginning compared with the trauma of the Last Days. He also says that people who follow these prophets of doom and gloom are being tricked.

  One thing - does anyone ever say nay, and would it make a difference? Would the elder take it back up to Brooklyn and say, "They rejected this version, we need to redraft it. They are demanding pornography, but maybe we can meet them halfway and allow the occasional R-rated movie with boobies?"

  HA!

  The other thing is, yes, the Internet is scaring them. They are not only losing people, but the smarter and more eloquent ones that have driven this movement for the past hundred years.

  Ah well. As the French say, Not my problem...
