since you have been out of the jw's have you ever noticed how born-again christians get angry when you don't believe in their "interpretation of the bible"?
it never fails since i have been out for over 15 years when i run across a born-again and they don't know my past they will try to force their interpretation down my throat until i show them that i am very versed in the old and new testaments.
i know all of the scriptures that they will bring up and if i disagree with them then i am going to "hell" according to them.

whats the funniest comment heard from the audience during a wt study/book study/service meeting?.
we had a young retarded kid in our cong , who had his hand up for every single question , usually the bro would take his comment as he would just say "jehovah" but this time he takes the mic and starts this long winded comment rounded off with"satans going to cause a civil war!
priceless !.
A WT study on the gift of singleness prompted a single sister to say, "Since I do not have a human head" and reduced me to laughter - a problem since I was reading that week.

as i said in another post: actions speak louder than words.
muslims were angered by the pope's quoting a 14th century writer who said that muslims are violent in nature.. in order to disprove this statement many muslims took too the streets shouting violent slogans and burned an effigy of the pope.
still more muslims demonstrated that they are not violent by firebombing random churches.. yup... actions speak louder than words.
I know you must think what you say is true, but please reconsider. None of these actions, the actions of some Muslims, should be considered THE Islamic response.
Sure - if a few did it and the rest condemned it. What we SEE though, is masses of people cheering these actions, and only a few quiet voices that mutter some placating statements - this from a religion that openly advocates lying to non-believers in order to overcome them. No, you are wrong, ma'am. This religion is coming to get you. For real. OF course, it sounds like you will be quite content to accept their rule.

I am, how about you?
Nope.

this is just a "feeler," and i'm trying to gauge the public sentiment, but:.
what if some of us ex-jw's established a charitable institution to help ex-jw's make the transition to "worldly" life?
this idea was pitched to me by my wife, as we lay in bed talking about my ever-present battle with my past - and she said maybe some kind of charitable fund to help ex-jw's go to college, with scholarships, access to counseling services, etc?.
Oh yeah. Very hard indeed.
Not saying it would be easy. I wouldn't even know HOW to go about doing it even if I decided to... any ideas?

i got a call today from a member of the judicial committee asking if i would meet with them.
i asked them what for?
i was told it was about my asking questions about wts involvement with the un and bethel layoffs and my getting information from an apostate website.. i told them i have never attended their kh and had been inactive for more than 20 years and no longer accepted their authority and they no longer had a control over my mind or what i read or say or do.
Trust me. DF or DA - it's meaningless. It's like money in heaven.

This idea is barely even a "germ" of an idea - so I thought I would toss it out here and see what kind of reaction I would get. I was lucky when I got out, my family had already put me through school, but so many - especially young people - get screwed by not being prepared.
Specifically, I was thinking of all these Bethelites that are getting laid off, and maybe some help getting them some education would help them out a little? Of course, it might be difficult to help them when they won't even TALK to ex-JW's, but perhaps the gesture might open some minds?

last dec 2005, the ny bethel gave talks indicating that they had to downsize (word is mine) due to "improved technology" and that as a result of this simplification some bethel family members would be invited to serve in the united states field in various assignments at various congregations where the excellent training they have recieved at bethel could be put to use and contribute much to the preaching and disciple making work.. what do you make of this?.
i wonder how they would determine who stays or goes?.
are there any former bethel members out there who can comment on rather this would be an easy transistion for those who have to leave?.
If you see her again, please give her a tight and prolonged hug. She deserves it!
I will, if we ever cross paths again... Ever wonder what happened to your first crush? Ah well, that's another thread, really.
The czarina said something interesting about this: she said that people who went to Bethel and stayed were making the choice to have somebody else answer all of life's questions for them. Therefore, while this transition is a wrench and represents a huge failure of JW doctrine - in reality the change could be compared to a new birth.
So, while I do sympathize deeply with their pain and fear - in reality they need to start making the changes to live life for themselves, a choice they SHOULD have made before they went to Bethel. We know that it isn't so bad on the "outside". They will jsut have to find out for themselves. This represents a huge opportunity for their personal development.

At this time, I would like to extend my warm and heartfelt thanks to that young lady who helped sink my Bethel aspirations by taking off her shirt.
Wow. Boobs, and the ensuing "theocratic punishment" saved me from wasting years at the FDS Asylum.
The Lord works in mysterious ways, don't he?
