Simon,
that's such an wonderful idea. I wish I had the courage to do that! If I had someone to make me company, I would do exactly that.
No disruption or anything; just nice and sweet! :)
That's so funny!

Let's do something big for this year's memorial !
by Simon inenough of the wts intimidation and getting away with all sorts of crap.
we, "the people", have more power than they, "the establishment", do.. this year i propose that we make ourselves heard and noticed.
that as many people as possible protest at their beloved memorial - the one event that is "most sacred" to them.. i am not suggesting that we disrupt or do anything illegal but simply that we exercise our right to take up their offer of free wine and make a statement.. go, drink.

The org is going down----I can feel it!
by stopthepain in.
my brother called me today.he is 20 ,3 years younger than me,and out of the religion.he still has fear though that it could be true, but thats another story.. he told me he heard my mother and father talking upstairs.my mother said about the org "ive put 26 years into it,i think i'm done with it,i might just go sunday from now on".this is huge ,because she was a devoted nutjob witness.she made my life horrible for the 1st 17 years of my life.i had been trying to suddly tell her the truth about the troof, but i didn't expect this.i'm happy and yet i want to know where she stands with the borganization.. this along with what seems to be an outpouring of similar stories,i have a gut feeling the jehovahs witness mind control cult is on the brink of implosion.everyone is so burdened by it.the jig is up,gb,good riddance when you fold.the rank and file have had enough.my 2 younger sisters are on the edge of mental freedom.i hope they can fully get free of it.. this is a milestone in my families long and strange trip in mental enslavement!!!!!!!!!!!!

stopthepain,
Given the good signs your parents are giving that they are seeing the real truth, I wouldn't say anything to them. Let them come to the realization by themselves...
I regret very much having told my sister what I felt when I got out. Because after that, she got zealous which is something she never was. I think she's trying to make a point to me...
Now, with more experience, I think that there are situations where your silence and attitude speak louder. Be patient!

Elder in coma said Jehovah was testing him.
by Es inan elder in my parents congregation passed away last week of cancer.. i dont know if this sounds weird to anyone else, but about a month before he passed away, he went into a coma, he didnt know how long he was in it for.
but when he awoke he said to one of the c/o visiting him "jehovah was testing me, and tellin me i was going to be ok".
so once he awoken he wasnt afraid to die.. does this sound a little weird to anyone, i just feel if it had of been any wordly person saying that god was talkin to them in their coma that the jw's would say it was the demons?????.

"I just feel if it had of been any wordly person saying that God was talkin to them in their coma that the JW's would say it was the demons?????"
Absolutely! If it is a JW, the voices are from Jehovah; if not, the voices are from demons.
When in fact, as "wednesday" said, it is a form of mental illness.

confused Im a non JW and my boyfriend is one of the JWs
by sun_dae ini'm 21 years old and currently in a relationship with a baptised jw.
i have been studying with the jws for 2 years before we met.
well, i have to admit, i did not enjoy studying with them until about 10 months ago when i became interested of digging the "truth" although it means my sources was only the jw.

"I agreed to do research and found about this site(been to freeminds.com too)...my gosh...it was hard to accept the things the exJWs say about the organization because I have to admit, I swallowed up everything the JW told me, about blood transfusion, disfellowshipping, etc...etc..."
Now we're talking!
You now see the 2 sides of the coin. JWs definitely don't want you to do that...
Welcome to the forum.

What I remember from 1975
by Big Dog insince i am sort of late to the party this has probably been beaten to death and if it has just kick this thread to the curb.
i was 11 years old in 1975 and i remember being scared silly the whole year.
i mean there was so much hype about it and the tension in the air was so thick it was unreal.

SNG, AlanF, Leolaia et al, made very good points.
SNG showed very clearly how something that the WT says may be viewed more than one way. They are master on this field...
On the same line of what Leolaia said, I was talking to a couple of friends the other day and said that are very mistaken those who are only looking on publications to see what the Society said. There are a lot of unwritten rules and instructions among the Witnesses.
My dad's life is screwed up to this day because of 1975... Did he come up with that on his own? I don't think so.

...the fact that Bethany fought every step of the way up to and including tearing the tubes from her arms speaks volumes for her courage and devotion.
More unthougthful and untrue words have never been said!
She tearing the tubes from her arms speaks volumes of how BRAINWASHED she was by her mother and her destructive, death loving cult.

Tough day -- my mom died today
by cruzanheart inpoor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.
the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.
last weekend she actually looked a little better.

"Out of curiosity, why would America attack its own high-ranking officers with a missile? It doesn't make sense to me."
Neither it does to me. And the same I'd ask of the twin towers: why would America strike one of its own landmarks and symbol of pride?
The only thing that I found very strange is the fact that flight 93 was taken down by passengers. Notice that the rebutal of PM is very lame to say the least.
Throughout history there have been several instances of incidents being told not exactly the way it happened; people being made heroes when they weren't etc.
I think that flight 93 being taken down by a military aircraft is very plausible. It just underscores that the whole attack was not a fabrication of the US. That specific plane heading for Washignton, DC, was a great threat to whatever was their target in the nation's capital, and a decision could very well have been made to take it down.
Now, from the government standpoint is a lot easier to sell it as passenger's final act of bravery than otherwise. Just think about it: it's better and a lot less painful for everyone, especially the families!
But please be gentle with me. I'm just expressing a layman's personal opinion here.
