Brand New Blood Card
by PoppyR inhubby has just come back from the service meeting where they have been handed out brand new style blood cards, now called 'advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment' .
it's quite a bit different.
and has the line on it about giving permission to the hospital liason committee to see your notes and medical records.. very scary stuff i think, and i certainly wont be filling one in.. i'm really short of time tonight, but will scan it in, along with the notes that go with it and try and post it some time over the next day or so if someone else doesn't beat me to it!.

SERVICE REPORT 2005 : WATCHTOWER FEB 1ST 2006
by BluesBrother ini have had a quick look and found no references to this, so - here goes..as in the mag we picked up on sunday.. worldwide % increase over 2004 = 1.3%.
memorial partakers 8524 (compared to 8570 in 2004).
most european and nth american lands show pretty static figs - britain 1% increase, canada 0%, germany 0%, france 1%, usa 0%... but spare a thought for the inhabitants of zambia where 1 person in 90 is a reporting witness, must be hell going down to the local market!

So during the conversation I'm thinking maybe there is some hope for some of my friends & family, but then they excused it away saying "these are the last days and the love would cool off, so declining numbers show how close we really are to the end of this system."
doingmypart,
This is a good example of what some will say. That's why I pleaded with David for him not to switch to this type of reasoning when he realizes that all is not well on WT land.

I believe that in many instances the decreasing numbers will bolster the faithful.
I'm not sure if I agree. The number of followers consistently falling in the developed nations had an impact on me when I still was a faithful jdub. I had 93.7% of my brain cell totally brainwashed, but the remaining 6.3% thought "WTF? There must be something going on... I got watch these numbers more closely..."
Sure enough, these were the lands where the information age had arrived first.
Watch the WTS drop the statistics section sometime from now, if they can't come up with anything creative.

David,
it's good that we can nicely debate things and express different opinions. I certainly appreciate your views, even though I disagree with them.
You sound like you're in denial, David. You're trying to come up with explanations that likely is unconvincing even to yourself. I'll give you an example of your type of logic and where the problem is:
You said:
"It appears that if the growth is less than 1% in a given country, then 0% percent growth is listed."
In other words, you're saying that the absolute number may be a little higher than last year's but still less than 1%, thus being listed as 0.
What you don't realize, however, is that, BY THE SAME CRITERIA, a country that had a growth anywhere from -1% and 0% is also listed as 0% growth. You don't have to even go beyond the letter A to see an example of what I'm talking about. Look at Australia!
I just hope, David, that when you get convinced that those numbers are bad, realy bad - and a sign of troubles for the Org-, you don't change the fundamentals of your argumentation, from a numerical one to a religious one. I know quite a few JWs who will be saying that Jehovah is doing a cleansing in the Org and we don't care about numbers. Please don't do that!
Nice discussing things with you, though.

Brand New Blood Card meeting - Your Blood will run cold.
by hamsterbait ini first noticed that no scriptural discussion of the choice is made, so it all appears to be solely the decision of the signatory.. when choosing alternatives of treatment, the witless merely initials his choice under clauses 3 and 4. since this simply indicates choice, full signature and witness are not required.. .
now clause 6:.
"i consent to my medical records ands the details of my condition being shared with the emergency contact below (cong secretary recommended) and/or with member(s) of the hospital liaison committee for jehovah's witnesses.. .

One thing that makes no sense to me is this: it is my opinion that the WT is gradually softning the rules on what is allowed for a witness related to blood, so that eventually they may drop the doctrine completely, by making it a "conscience matter".
Now, if that's true, then why would they thighten the rules with requirements like those in the blood card and entangle themselves even more?
Anyone?

Do you know where the first person you had sex with, lives now?
by free2beme ini was actually baptized in my early 20's, so i spent some time as a teen and early twenties doing things that were not witness-like.
one of those things was sex out of marriage and to be honest, i have no regrets.
i have wondered though sometimes, where is that person i shared such a landmark moment with in life.
