Babylon the Great Alive and Well
by rekless inmerry christmas all on christmas eve my partner and i visited her mom for christmas and for the first time in 5 years i went to a religious service.
it was at peace lutherin church in sioux falls, south dakota.
keeping to topic, the marqee stated four service arrangments starting at 3:30pm, 5pm (which we went to had 400 +/_ in attendance), 6:30, and 10pm.

Over 160,000 Simply Left The "Truth" Last Year
by minimus inthat was the comment that a former elder made at the local meeting today in his comment.
evidently, he and his wife heard a bethel speaker's comment during his talk say that (i believe the figure was) 167,000 people did not get disfellowshipped but simply left.
the ex-elder made it a point to say that the elders should be watching to help out the flock before they up and leave.

To tell the truth, I hope they don't. The more out of touch Brooklyn and the travelling overseers become, the quicker people will become disillusioned and head for the exits.
Exactly what I thought.
Unfortunately, though, I think the WT is aware of the problems and will make small changes overtime; they're master of survival, don't forget.
When they finally drop 90% of their bogus doctrines and go mainstream, witnesses will say "what a progressive organization. Jehovah has blessed us so much. Rejoice!"

WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

I know we are all angry with the WT for closing QUOTES - and understandably so, but we have to keep our cool and fight them with our brains. This is a "war" that will require very smart, calculated moves. By closing QUOTES, the Society has shown signs of desperation. The war against such a cult has the potential to be long and will require of us patience.
If any of you remember, my daughter was raped at 9 years old by a pedophile "brother" known to them. I have a degree in psychology and am writing a book on the effects of the WT's policies on people, specializing in child abuse and family breakdown.
This is such an effective and wonderful way of fighting them. Please let us know when the book is out.

Important Question regarding transfer of Quotes site to WTS
by inbyathread insomeone with more 'tech' knowledge needs to answer this for us.. the wt has current control of the quotes.watchtower.ca website.
if they put something on it to forward requests to view to the 'real' wt site can they look at and trace back ip addresses to us.. if it is yes then the next thing we will see is the lawyers sending lawsuits to isp's thru-out the country wanting the names of those individuals.. or am i really paranoid on this one.. let them come after me i really don't care at this point in time.
but i would rather have this happen on my timeline and not theirs.

IDEA For A NEW Watchtower Related Website
by West70 inas has been previously pointed out, international copyright law is extremely complex, and interpreting such is a specialty.
therefore, i do not claim that the following "idea" for a new watchtower related website will comply with international copyright laws, but it just might.
possibly, at this point in time, there is a need for a new discussion board website, which specializes in discussing what the wbts has previously published on various topics.
