"We don't know if it will be a desire for peace or a belief that peace has been achieved."
If you keep changing the meaning of things, one day one of your interpretations will come true. Think about it: some people, some where, may believe that 'peace has been achieved'. So what?
I love these types of talks. The less educated among JWs will be scared to death, but the more intelligent people among them will see through it, and flee like crazy. Good job, WT.
So, let Losch go around giving this type of talk. Fantastic!

My brother being kicked out of Bethel
by observador inone more sad story about someone beyond their good age being kicked out of bethel.
i have been informed that starting in march, he will be reassigned to the wonderful privilege of working as a pioneer in a distant rural area congregation.
my brother, 41, knows nothing but bethel life.

Blondie, he can expect a place to live if his "pioneer assignment" doesn't work out for him, but he can't expect any financial help.

I have been informed that starting in March, he will be reassigned to the wonderful privilege of working as a Pioneer in a distant rural area congregation.
My brother, 41, knows nothing but Bethel life. He has no professional training whatsoever, and was even given the choice of being kicked out empty-handed like he came to the world or being kicked with the wonderful privilege of being reassigned as a pionner, what a blessing! He chose the latter.
Looks like bethel everywhere is going through a hard time. Brazil is one of those countries where publications has been given to the public on a donation basis since 2000. He was, actually, transferred from Sao Paulo's bethel branch (farm) to a much smaller office in the city a few years ago. Only recently he got the news of the second phase of his a$$ kicking.
Now, I'm telling you, He isn't the type of guy who enjoys the "spiritual service", I can tell you that. He was in Bethel for the status that confers to a die hard JW. So, it remains to be seen how he's gonna adapt to the new life.
It's amazing to see the state of the organization in many countries. How could an organization that was vibrant, sporting high growth rates, making spectacular claims, being reduced to a laying off type of organization that has shifted to survival mode.
Stay tuned for more details when they become available.

Ridiculous comments re: new meeting time and reduced public talk.
by truthseeker inmy hall shares with 2 other congregations.
we went from an early morning 10am start to 4pm.. the elder giving the local needs part asks us the benefits of a later public talk/wt study, here are a sample of stupid, typically dub comments:.
1) we have more time for field service.

Welcome Fadeout! You seem to have a lot to share with this community.
And yet, this man, who saw through the elaborate WT deception, could not follow his arguments to their logical conclusion and see the Bible itself for what (I feel) it really is—a great work of human literature.
I believe he's smarter that we think. If he had written what I think he really thinks the Bible is, we probably woudn't be here. But that is just my gut feelings.
The #1 rule if you hope to enlighthen a JW is: Don't attack Jehovah, or Jesus, or the Bible. Attack the organization using their own holy book. Overtime, the person will reach the proper conclusion about the Bible by himself. I have used this rule - and seen some friends using the rule - with some success.

Hall Build Plans and tithing (is this common?)
by Burger Time inmy brother called me today and said last night at the meeting there was a talk about building a new hall.
they went over the 3% interest on the loan and all that jazz.
then they passed out contracts to individual congregation members.

Rejoice!
You're being shafted by a loving arrangement from the organization, with all the blessings of compassionate Christians overseers.
Praise be to Jah! -

What book are you reading right now?

This is such a good thread.
Besides "Crisis of Conscience" by Fred Franz, and "1984" by George Orwell, I recently also read "The Signs of the Last Days - When?"
The latter is an excellent book - although not often talked about in the ex-JWs circles - if you want to understand why believing that the past has always been good and the world is falling apart now (as JWs would want you believe) is a myth. -

If the beetles were "clean", there would be 7 pairs of them in the ark. Now, how they multiplied to be 30 million species today is the greatest feat of evolution ever. :)

SPEEDING UP THEIR OWN DEMISE?
by Dansk inwe all know the majority of the society's elders are absolutely useless when it comes to dealing with family matters and as i was sat here reading a number of posts it suddenly occurred to me that watchtower may have started to speed up its own demise.. before i exited my old congregation a young elder was appointed.
he was married without children (they don't want any).
after i exited i heard of another young elder who was appointed (they, too, have no children and i don't think they want any either).. the service overseer was a young elder (a right big head and son of the p.o.).

I personally know several elders with no children. And this was in Brazil, where parents with 4 or 5 kids are not uncommon. The comment - usually delivered jokingly - is "I want perfect kids", and of course, they mean in the "new system of things". ha ha ha ha
However, what I have seen too is that, in many cases, all it takes for a couple or couples to have a child is seeing a couple they respect having one. This is normal human behavior.
