you reminded me of the couple who brought my parents to the "troof". He and his wife were the type of couple who had the time to do one and only one thing: make converts to this freaking religion.

That guy used to say the same thing: "we are in the iminency of the new order", back when the term "new order" was still used. The man died 3 years ago, I was told. His wife is still alive, in her eighties. The irony of all this is that she seems to have come to her senses because now she's marrying a man of her age from the other side of Brazil.

After screwing my parent's and a lot of other people's lives, she seems to believe now is the time to have some fun! Go figure.

i'm told this is what the new "organized" book says about real estate on page 16: "what then are the "belongings"?

these are all the spiritual assets on earth that have become christ's property in connection with his authority as heavenly king.

Gary, here's my take on this:

Legally, KHs belong to the WTS, for all practical purposes; and it has been that way ever since I was old enough to say "mom, I wanna go potty".

In Brazil, they also have a scheme similar to the US to hold control of the congregation property, namely, they form a "not for profit corporation". In Brazil, they call it "Associacao Juridica"; it's exactly the same $hit; only different names.

I think we are focusing too much on the legal aspect of it, though. What I always understood about the "Master's belongings" was that those were "spiritual assets". Now they're making very clear that it includes PROPERTIES and Kingdom Halls are EXPLICITLY among them. This is new to me!

The fact they're making this clear may be an indication that it has become more common for congregations to request the transfer of title deeds to the congregation (as "apocalypse" demonstrated in his post), and they're trying to send a clear message that this won't be done; "so, don't even try" could be the message they're trying to send...

Hall's "For Sale" sign removed

a while ago i posted about a kingdom hall in the area that had a for sale sign up.

now, driving by the other day, i noticed that the sign was no longer there.

so, i drove into the parking lot and the meeting schedule sign is still there and "kingdom hall" sign is still up.

mine was when my mom signed me up to sit at a table at our local university.

we had to sit there and talk to students as they passed by our table.

a few people came up to start a conversation and i didn't even know what they were talking about.

Now, driving by the other day, I noticed that the sign was no longer there. So, I drove into the parking lot and the meeting schedule sign is still there and "Kingdom Hall" sign is still up.

So, about the only explanation I have for the removal of the sign is that they were tipped off by someone who lurks on this board. :) You, "apostates" are having an wonderful impact.

Just thought you would want to know...

I wish I had the guts to call them and ask if the hall was sold and/or the reason for the sign removal. :(

Anyone from northern RI area who would know anything?
