Not surprised. But would still like to take a look inside.

Annoying trend in TV commercials...
by Gregor inhave you noticed how it seems that the tactic of making commercials deliberately annoying is becoming popular?
i'm sure you can think of a commercial or two that quickly becomes like fingernails on a chalkboard.
that is why they are produced and repeated over and over, they accomplish the purpose of getting your attention and causing you to remember them.

"I agree the amount of commercials is getting much worse. It's even worse on network TV than on cable now. I was trying to watch "National Treasure" on NBC the other day. I swear, every 5-10 minutes there was a commercial break."
I have tried to time the program and commercials so annoying the excessive breaks have become. I thought it was only me. TV shows are becoming almost unwatchable now. Most shows on TV now are designed to break every about 6 minutes with a commercial break of about 3 minutes. It's horrible to watch.
What I don't understand is that people watch less TV because of the commercials; then, TV people think "oh, we have to make up the revenue loss by extending the commercial time"; then, people watch TV even less; then, the TV people...
It's such a dumb strategy.
One thing is true, I think: it has never been so cheap to advertise on TV as it is now. Even Manny's hardware store is advertising now. -

As Much as I hate to say this,I am glad for have being a J Dub
by SuperApostateGirl ini know this sounds crazy however being raised a jehovah's witness gave me the tools of respect for my fellow man.
also my parents had a huge role as well,of course.. i just find today there are soo many twisted people who are amused by the sickest of circumstances and pride themselves on belittling people.i mean i am the first to say.
i love funny sarcasm and making fun of the jehovah's witness religion because i believe in my heart its a crazy cult and way out in left field.

Sometimes I compare the JW religion to drug dealers and drug gangs, as they also do some good to the community, but the end result for anyone involved with them can't be good. It wasn't for me.

Was there ever a thread on the circuit assembly in 07 about the Do's talk?
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH inthe last assembly i attended was in 07. the do spoke about pushing and shoving and forcing the children to become bapticed!
i really was actually concerned not mad or angry but just concerned.
i think that was when i realized you have to either move on or become a part of the congregation and do your best to salvage whatever good there is in the congregations.

Mama2Six makes a very good point. This is something I can easily relate to. I didn't receive any gifts or anything extraordinary given the poor environment in which I grew up, but received so many compliments and "encouragement" that I thought it a little strange, after a life of none of those things.
It felt to me as I did something very very important. It was as if I had only understood what I had done after the fact.
So, yes, this is a big deal for a child of 13, and it has the effect that the Society wants on those young minds. And yet the Society still has the nerve to attack Babylon, the Great, for baptizing children. Hummm...

Anyone see Criss Angel walk on water last night on A&E?
by sweetstuff inok, i'm not a person who takes what i see on tv as "real" but that was pretty darn mind blowing.
the guy walked on the hoover dam lake, people were coming into the water, checking out the water underneath him to make sure he wasn't walking on something and it appeared he was not.
holy crap, i watched in complete disbelieve yet thinking, how could you pull that off as an illusion?

I saw the trick. What's very strange to me was the camera on his hand all the time. Why? Now, I just saw another walk on the water trick by someone else and he has a video camera too. Sorry, can't explain, but that's very suspicious.

Practising 'Goodness' - from the District Convention

I love when I see "experiences" like these being reported on the Conventions. It is this type of thing that helps reasonable people to see through it all.
It simply screams CULT CULT CULT all over.
This may even help the JW girl herself. As a thinking human being she may come to the realization of how bad she looked by doing and proudly reporting what she did.
What a crooked way of thinking!
