Soooo, they can "lurk" here - but no-one is allowed to see their precious "truths". They must have tired of us "copy & pasting" (the pearls before swine) their insightful comments and tearing them apart (or laughing OUR asses off).

too bad - it was worth a laugh (or too), and it served as a big reminder why a person would never want to go back!!!

What are the rules the WTS pharisees have burdended JWs with?
by berylblue inin another thread, mini questioned why the wts does not see that the gb and elders are like the pharisees.
what do you all think are the "rules" jws have been given that smack of pharisaical (is that a word?
) burdening and/or hypocricy?.

The 6 months, 1 year - or longer "rule", of attending meeting (with no one talking to you) to PROVE repentance, before they'll consider re-instatement.

Is the WTBTS still an NGO????
by Tashawaa inis there proof?.
i know they "disassociated" from the dpi, but did they also disassociate completely from the un as an ngo?
i wrote and asked the wtbts, but never got a response.

hawkaw - thanks.
If we're still associated as an NGO - isn't that still apart of the "beast".
I mean that NGO is voluntary as well, isn't it. Not every religion is listed, are they??? How far back does the original NGO application go back? Before 1991?
I got all the DPI stuff - emails, letters, etc., but I guess the point being, if the NGO is still active, the JW org is still "apart of the Beast", regardless of the DPI requirement to "support the UN charter".
Am I missing something?

Does anyone know? Is there proof?
I know they "disassociated" from the DPI, but did they also disassociate COMPLETELY from the UN as an NGO?
I wrote and asked the WTBTS, but never got a response. I'd be verrrry interested in knowing.

Wacko Talks
by gitasatsangha inshare one of the odder/funnier talks you've heard (where the manuscript went out the window, along with any degree of decorum, preferably).
one time a brother had a 15 minute part and he spoke very calmly and relaxed.
he smiled all the time, but the part seemed aimless.

This isn't funny, and I'm ashamed of myself for not walking out (God, I wanted to!!!!) but we had a CO visit and he had a talk on "Divorce"... ohhh, by the way, I'm divorced, and NOT scripturally.
Apparently, when we "divorce" - hoards of witnesses do it on "frivilous grounds", you know, just like the ancient Isrealite men who divorced their wives over a burnt meal (hell, if that was the standard, my ex would have gott'n rid of me before I got rid of him)....
Anyhooo, his talk progressed to include spousal abuse. He used the example of a "faithful witness wife" who endured years of physical abuse (to the point of death), but she remained with the unbelieving husband, who eventually OF COURSE converted. Apparently, after the "beating" she'd massage his feet !!!! WHAT THE @(#*)#(!!!!! Are we telling "good christian women" to massage the feet of their husbands who abuse them?!?!? Like I said, I was SICK.
I could imagine how many sisters are sitting there in horrible marriages, and feel they have no way out. You think we could tell them about "shelters". It was a definite turning point for me.

Do humans have free will?
by Realist in.
hello everyone,.
i would like to know who of you thinks that humans have a free will and who thinks humans do rather work like a very complex computer.. in my opinion free will is an illusion generated by our brain....what do you think?.
-
Tashawaa
Maybe(scratch that, I am) simple minded, but I love "free will". I don't give a #?@!! damn about the definition or "philosophy" of it - all I know, is I'm FREE of the Borg, so everything I decide for myself definitely feels like "free will".By the way, if you believe in God (I don't know....) I don't think he should have equipped us with this concept, because he F*#)@()(!! up majorly by allowing us to make our own "choice". Therefore he made a mistake - hmmmm, perfect?!?!?! If he exists, then things are exactly the way they should be.

Do you think x-JW's need a crutch?
by digderidoo ini have thought this for a while...that when you leave the org, it's as though a vaccuum needs to filled.
when i left i threw myself into politics, it was as if i needed something to do with my mind and thoughts.
this lasted about three years or so, but even now i drink more than perhaps i should, as though i can escape through drink.

Prisca,
Ditto. For me it was a breath of fresh air - a release to freedom to live and explore my life. I've been balanced. I find that I'm a "volunteer". I've did 3 charities last year, and I'm already involved in the MS Society this year.
I think its trying to "find yourself". What do you like, dislike, agree with, believe???? etc. after all those years of being told what to believe, do, etc. Perhaps some still immerse themselves in things that won't allow them to explore (for whatever reasons - fear?!?!) as a sort of "escapism".
One thing I've learned is you can't force others to see things as you do - we're all on our own journey, and we all have our own comfort levels.
Concentrate on yourself, where are you? What are you doing, learning, etc? You may feel concerns for your friends/family that may be doing harmful things, but than again, you're not them. They may be doing what they need to do at this point in their lives.
My 2 cents.

A word of advice....
I found when I wrote the UN that I got a response much quicker via email. I never received a written letter. The Society sent me their "response" 2 weeks after I sent them my initial letter (I didn't send any attachments), however they never wrote back to my questions.... hmmmm. 2 weeks later I was DF'd.
[email protected] - Dana responded from the UN regarding my library pass question, and also sent me an attachment spelling out the WTBTS disassociation from the UN.
[email protected] - spelled out for me the NGO relationship with the UN
I also wrote to Stephen Bates, the journalist who opened this story in Britian, and caused the Society to withdraw their association.
Hope this helps and good luck.
