Good time for R&F to preemptively question GB validity

with the new light in the july 15 watchtower, now might be the perfect time for rank and file members to question wether or not the big boys are who they say they are.

in light of the fact that the men who claim to be the sole channel of communication for all mankind could not even grasp their own identity for the last 100 years, wouldn't now be a good time to turn the tables on the elders who are so quick to drag a questioning dub to the back room and demand loyalty to the governing body?.

wouldn't now be a good time to put the july 15 watchtower in the middle of the table and ask to see the credentials on these men without fear of being suspected of apostacy?

Yours is a great question, irondork. Unfortunately, rational, critical thinking has never been a factor in Watchtower world. This new spin on a worn-out, and baseless, concept will be handled like all other doctrines- shut up, believe it, don't question the validity of it. Questioning = lack of faith.

The identity of the "faithful slave" has always been an issue beginning with Russell.

Russell originally taught the FDS was a group of Christians.

Then it came to be accepted that Russell himself was the FDS, and he did not refute it.

This view was the official doctrine of the WT for many years after Russell's death.

At one point, the "generation" mentioned by Jesus was applied only to the remnant of the FDS.

Until recently, ALL anointed ones were considered the FDS.

Now, only the governing body is the FDS.

So, if the WT, and more specifically the faithful slave, can't identify ITSELF, and has never had a clear grasp on its own identity, how then can any JW put faith in them, as the WT demands?

Disfellowshipping question for X or Current Elders

i know somebody who got disfellowshipped...they decided to appeal.

how long does the appeal process usually take?

do they ever get overturned?

Here's a point that nobody has addressed yet, the 'elephant in the room':

The Watchtower says that the Elders pray for god's holy spirit to direct the outcome of a judicial hearing, and whatever decision they reach is the Holy Spirit's decision.

Why, then, do they allow an appeal?

Is this not, in effect, second-guessing the holy spirit?

If they truly believed their decision is god-directed, no appeal would be necessary. Allowing appeals obviously allows for human error as a factor.

"New Light":

we're just as sure about our new opinion as we were about the old one...you know, the one we just discarded as pure bunk.

(small print: we at Watchtower are so thankful Jehovah's Witnesses are so incredibly gullible!)

On The Way Out said: But the appeal committee upheld the DF anyway, stating unrepentance for some other violation of the rules.

The 'Shepherd the Flock" book actually substantiates your comment. It says that although an appeal committee may overturn the original reason for disfellowshipping, it may come up with new reasons to DF anyway (page 106, paragraph 10)

Underlying message: If they desire to DF a person, one way or the other, it's going to happen.

"seems" = since I haven't thought about it, I guess it's clear. You could also substitute "evidently", "possibly", "could have", "likely"- it's all the same.

Jehovah makes things easy for ppl like me that need it kept simple.

Yes, even spelling out the word "people" is too much work! Easier to cut it down to only three letters.

Thinking is a lot of work, which is why most J-Dubs don't do it.

I just went to the website containing this story. Under the "comments" section, here's what one person said:

The are right, that's why everyone hate them,..they are the only one who will survive the End., I study them and they do exactly what is in the Bible. Nothing less or more, they are in every nation and every religion hate them. Who do you think you are? Can you fight against Jehovah? Be careful man.

Still just a Bible study but he talks and thinks like a fully-indoctrinated JW !

i'm new here, so i thought i'd start with an introduction and summary of my life, for the most part.

i have a tendancy to ramble ridiculously, so bear with me :) and this will be all over the place as thoughts take over the keyboard.. i was born a 5th generation jw.

i never really "felt" it, but was book smart about it.
