  funny comment about the invitation campaign....

  was out with jw friends at a bar overconsuming and the special invitation campaign topic came up.....the following comment was said.... "sure like someone will want to drive 5 hours to the convention just to sit and listen to an hour public talk then drive 5 hours back home.....there is no point to inviting people to something that they would never attend".

  ....i think there may be some hope for my friend..... yes its a 5 hour drive from where i live to the convention site....im being begged to go even if i just sit in the hotel room...fun for me!.

  I think there's hope, for a few reasons:

  1. "Was out with JW friends at a bar" (JW friends at a bar is almost an oxymoron)

  2. "overconsuming"

  3. making critical statements about the Org's campaign

  If JWs are honest, even they don't want to be at the convention.

  Misquote in the Creation Book

  my dad came into the jw's because someone studied the "creation" book with him.

  it pains me deeply that he sent me an e-mail recently saying that to keep the peace with my mom, he will stop communicating with me as much as possible.

  i should communicate with him only if i have an emergency.. it upsets me to no end, but i cannot do anything or much about it.

  Then why ask for individuals in the Prescott area to identify themselves to you, Joe? You don't see why some may be leary of doing that, especially since you are brand new here?

  Real reason for new arrangement

  i apologize if this has already been covered, maybe someone can post the link.. what is the real reason for the society forgiving all loans for kingdom halls and just giving the money for new ones?.

  It's pure semantics. WT hasn't forgiven any loans.

  "Loans" have simply been relabelled as obligatory, set-amount monthly "donations" equal to or greater than, the previous loan amount.

  Why? Most likely to avoid legal liabilities under the previous arrangement. By all accounts, it's also resulting in a one-off windfall for WT through a plundering of congregation savings accounts.

  Peloyan's advice to me personally was to just forget about the “Creation” book's problems and just focus on what the Society does right.

  .

  If only a JW being judged by a Judicial Committee could successfully use the same argument.....

  Some real gems revealing WT methodology:

  "Peloyan's overall attitude about using quotes in a way the original author would disagree with was that it did not matter. As long as the words were quoted properly, the author's intent was irrelevant"

  "He immediately became defensive and, in effect, accused me of being critical because I was probably an evolutionist and therefore couldn't agree with anything the book said because of my prior prejudice." Followed by....

  "The reply from the Society stated that they didn't see anything wrong with the quote, and besides, even if there were, it didn't matter anyway because the main point was that evolution isn't true."

  "During this conversation Peloyan got a bit defensive about the Society's having said so much in the past about how near "the end" was. He said that for several reasons it is today so much clearer why "the end" could not have come earlier, but that it's now “very” near. He said that the recent advances in various technologies such as computers would allow society to be quickly rebuilt after Armageddon, and that even ten years ago this would not have been the case. I thought to myself how completely out of touch with reality the man is."

  (I'm glad to know that Jehovah™ has delayed Armageddon simply because he needs human technology to be advanced enough for his own use in order to accomplish his will. Really? )

  No. But according to Mike and Kim's video, we all know an elder who illegally sold himself the congregation's property at a fire sale price and committed fraud to do it. If he flips the property for a big profit, I'm sure he'll buy a Ducati.
