Why I HATE the WTS
by berrygerry inas a baby-boomer, i went through the pre-1975 bs without giving it any credence.. even as a youngster, my mind said: "if jesus said that no man knows the day or hour, then why the h is everyone saying that a is coming in oct.
" and i left as a teen.. for whatever insane reason, i was convinced to return a number of years later, and sadly, got dunked.. major faux pas.. in previous posts, i have mentioned my endearing love of great rock (god bless rock and roll), esp.
my teen faves bto, etc.. attending this concert ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yukhsmphvvo ) and watching fred turner's fingers drive me crazy, as one of my children has music in his soul and the fingers of a protege.. i hate that this cult destroys the orgasmic satisfaction that comes from the giving and receiving of pleasure from each others' developed or natural talents or gifts.. god bless rock and roll.. .

I hear you... from what I've read, it was the WTS's attempts to reign in his artistic tendencies that ultimately compelled him to leave.
I was close to a CO at that time who was directly involved with the MJ situation. WT had a real problem with the "Thriller" album in particular. MJ didn't leave... he was DF'd.
Yet another example of WT's intolerance for individuality and a person's right to be human by pursuing their innate talents.
WT idiocy tends to make even the most rational person a bit eccentric. It goes with the territory of living in a maniacal religious dictatorship.

Complete and Finished
by Prefect incomplete and finished.. .
no dictionary has ever been able to satisfactorily define the difference between "complete" and "finished.
" however, during a recent linguistic conference, held in london , england , and attended by some of the best linguists in the world.

Awesome answer.
It reminds me of when Einstein was asked to explain his Theory of Relativity as simply as possible. Here was his reply:
"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity."

1914 to 2014: The funniest JW moments of this century.
The really disturbing thing is, WT has gotten so absurd that a century is too large a chunk of time to recount the hilarity.
"Funny WT moments this week", or "today", is probably as far out in time you want to go to keep the list to a managable size.

At least T-Mo3 isn't wearing tight pants. That would be weird.
However, he's still obviously still on his burnt wiener kick. Ouch.

Toddler accidentally shoots woman dead in Idaho Walmart
by nicolaou ina woman has been shot dead by a 2-year-old in a wal-mart store in idaho.. .
the 29-year-old was shopping with four children in the store in hayden, when the two-year-old reached into her handbag and fired the weapon, shooting her dead.. initial reports suggested the woman was the boy's mother, but the police have said that this is as yet unclear how they are related.. source; http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/toddler-accidentally-shoots-woman-in-idaho-walmart-9950847.html.
i've nothing to add to my past comments on americas psychotic relationship with guns.

I apologize, BB.
I didn't realize you knew this woman personally and saw this whole incident unfold firsthand, putting you in a position to pass judgment so easily.
I now feel rather silly for withholding judgment pending the outcome of the police investigation.

@ Vidiot: God loves rock and roll. He even said so in Haggai 2:7
Yeah, but he doesn't like television so it's a wash. (Matthew 17:9)

I've often wondered about this myself. How many "greats" has WT crushed by depriving a person the opportunity to gift the world with their talents?
I despise the WT articles where some now-current JW recounts their story of being an: accomplished artist; musician; dancer; successful business person, etc., only to walk away from it all to "serve Jehovah" when they had the (misfortune) of crossing paths with a JW and getting sucked into the fantasy.

Surprise ! Surprise ! 2015 Arrives and NO Armageddon or World's " End " - Go Figure
by flipper ini guess 99.9 % of ex-jw's here could have predicted as much .
armageddon didn't happen in 1914. it didn't happen in 1925. it didn't happen in 1975. and it did not happen in 2014. since the wt society first predicted a world's end when their organization started in 1879 - 126 years have passed which according to any dictionary in any human language 126 years comprises of 4 separate generations each totaling 30 years each.
plus 6 years into a 5th generation.

@ Blondie: Whenever the WTS predicts a time, they have to be wrong per Jesus.
This is such an infinitesimally simple point, yet the talking heads at WT fail to grasp it decade after decade after decade. The mass of their focus is based on something they have been told right from the outset will fail everytime, yet they dive headfirst into the shallow waters anyway and are suprised everytime it doesn't go so well.
Truly, stupid is as stupid does.

Wisdom in "the Word of God". Really? What Watchtower got wrong at this week's Congregation "Bible" Study.
by Island Man inthe congregation "bible" study (cbs) for the week of december 29, 2014 to january 4, 2015 was taken from draw close to jehovah, pages 179-182, paragraphs 1-8.. paragraph 3 seems to be using the ancient jew's fear of jehovah's thunderous voice to justify the wisdom of him using moses to record and transmit his laws to the people.
but there is an implied false dichotomy here.
since god is supposedly almighty he is most certainly capable of giving a personal revelation of his requirements to every human in a clear, concise and unambiguous manner that they can fully understand and remember - without having to use his thunderous voice.

Bart Ehrman, in his book, "Misquoting Jesus", stated that even among the most "literate" of the early Christians, very few of those were, what we would consider in modern times, literate. Many of those entrusted with copying letters among congregations or copying scripture into "books" were capable of making little more than a series of marks or only basic sentences. And, these were the best people available. Think about that.
It's no wonder the original message, for whatever it was worth, was probably useless within a very short period of time.
