SO, are we guilty for something we can do nothing about??
According to J-Hoover: yes
Is that fair and just??
According to J-Hoover: yes
Conclusion: J-Hoover isn't worth my time.
(this may offend some sincere 'christians'.
can you, as a human, stop yourself from breathing?.
i have always thought that one of the basic teachings of 'christianity' is the concept that we are "mere sinners"...riddled with guilt and not worthy of god or life...undeserved kindness has been shown to us etc.... but, we have no control over that, just as we have no control over breathing air!.

i wanted to thank so many who have taken the time and effort to read and recommend captives of a concept over the past decade.. for those who have not seen it, there is an interview on youtube that may have helped some witnesses begin the process of getting the sense of the way the watchtower religion actually works.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5trkrpia-3q.

Your book was instrumental in my exit from WT. Thank you so much, Don, for gifting us with your writings.
I have recommended your book to several JWs in their exiting process, and I still refer to it frequently as a great reminder of why I left.
im recalling a time when i sat and circled words in a watchtower article, indicating strongly the fact that it is in fact the writters opinion.. however just the suggestion in the sentence these words are ignored.. for example.
it is our understanding.
we believe this to be the case.

Cheating* in WT Land, is for all intents and purposes- listen, obey, and be blessed.
"Blessed" by the GB really means: hornschwaggled.

Sorry...I'll try to work on that.

i found an article on the dr. sears website about the benefits of breasfeeding.
according to the article it says: "a drop of breastmilk contains about one million white blood cells.
" it also says "colostrum also contains higher amounts of white blood cells..........than mature milk.
The other part is, where in the Bible does it distinguish fractions of blood?
According to WT, there's a categorical prohibition against using blood ("abstain"), yet it has found a way to justify fractions of blood.
Since the same scripture also mentions abstaining from fornication, I contend fractions of fornication are also acceptable (as per WT logic).

...and of course, WT can default to the infamous "tacking" excuse for doctrinal flip-flops, false prophecies and lies:
"However, it may have seemed to some as though that path has not always gone straight forward. At times explanations given by Jehovah’s visible organization have shown adjustments, seeminglyto previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case. This might be compared to what is known in navigational circles as "tacking." By maneuvering the sails the sailors can cause a ship to go from right to left, back and forth, but all the time making progress toward their destination in spite of contrary winds. And that goal in view for Jehovah’s servants is the "new heavens and a new earth" of God’s promise." -- W 12-1-81, p.27

WT uses many tactics.
1) For instance, it makes emphatic, positive statements (from god, no less) when promoting dates or doctrines:
"...all present governments will be overthrown and dissolved." (1889)
"...but the same fact and scriptures, teaching the same time and presence, stand unchallenged and incontrovertible". (1899)
"...we consider it an established truth that the final end of the kingdoms of this world, and the full establishment of the kingdom of God, will be accomplished by the end of A.D. 1914." 1902
"They are, we believe, God's dates, not ours." 1894
To flat-out denial if what it has actually written when things go south:
"We did not say positively that this would be the year." --Watchtower 11/1/1914, p.5565
---
2) WT praises JWs for following the direction/orders WT expects everyone to obey dutifully and without question. For example:
"Yes, the end of this system is so very near! Is that not reason to increase our activity?...Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and propertyand planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end." (Kingdom Ministry, May 1974, p. 3)
...then chastises JWs for actually being stupid enough to believe WT and following that very advice:
"It may be that some who have been serving God have planned their lives according to a mistaken view of just what was to happen on a certain date or in a certain year. They may have, for this reason, put off or neglected things that they otherwise would have cared for. But they have missed the point of the Bibles warnings concerning the end of this system of things, thinking that Bible chronology reveals the specific date." (Watchtower, July 15, 1976, p. 440)
---
3) Blatantly lying and contradicting itself (knowing JWs will buy the lie hook, line and sinker):
"Following 1925, meeting attendance dropped dramatically in some congregations... Again, in 1975, there was disappointment when expectations regarding the start of the Millennium failed to materialize. Again, some withdrew from the organization." --- Proclaimers (Jv), p.633
"This organization has NEVER disappointed us and always gives us an abundance of pure water of truth from God´s Word". --- W 7-15-2011
---
4) WT asserting it's authority as god's only spokesman and expecting full obedience from JWs:
"...The Governing Body publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages. This spiritual food is based on God’s Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah." --W 9/15/10, p.13
then blaming, not itself (WT/GB) for the failings, but suddenly the blame falls on "Jehovah's Witnesses" as a group:
"Did the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses on these matters prove to be correct? They certainly did not err in believing that God would without fail do what he had promised. But some of their time calculations and the expectations that they associated with these gave rise to serious disappointments." Proclaimers, pp. 632-633
you can measure the degree of passive aggressive control the jw's have over you by the degree to which you feel guilty when you stand up for yourself.

The name "Jehovah" is the linguistical fabrication of a 13th century, a.d., Catholic monk: Raymundus Martini. So, the 1st century Christains couldn't be "Jehovah's Witnesses", as WT claims, because that name didn't exist in the first century a.d.
Furthermore, the tetragrammaton (YHWH) does not appear even one time in the NT, the "Christian Greek Scriptures", so if those Christians were supposed to be proclaiming god's name, they not only missed the boat, they never made it to the pier.

Mr Worsley stressed it was not a trial about Jehovah’s Witnesses but “a trial about a number of children within that context”.
He fails to see one is the cause of the other due to WT's policies.
To read more accurately, it should say:
"Mr Worsley stressed it [is] a trial about Jehovah’s Witnesses Watchtower but and “a trial about a number of children within that context”.
since the big 7 have appropriated this "blessed" title for themselves, and disavowed the existence of this slave prior to 1919, an obvious question comes up.. was it not the apostate maria russell that proffered that ctr was "the slave," and was the coiner of the term "the faithful slave"?.
if the slave did not come into existence until 1919, then how was it possible that prior to 1919 that anyone knew that it existed, or would have been able to foretell that it would come into existence?.
was maria a prophetic apostate?.
" It is a serious matter to represent God and Christ in one way, then find that our understanding of the major teachings and fundamental doctrines of the Scriptures was in error, and then after that, to go back to the very doctrines that, by years of study, we had thoroughly determined to be in error. Christians cannot be vacillating—‘wishy-washy’—about such fundamental teachings. What confidence can one put in the sincerity or judgment of such persons?." ---(Watchtower, May 15, 1976, page 298)

For once, WT got it right. I followed this advice...that's why I'm no longer a JW.
.
And, let's not forget: according to WT's current doctrine, the Faithful slave is literal, the evil slave is only illustrative.
Please ignore that both are discussed in the same verse.
