It must be 15 minutes now! Still living ADCMS?
I must've blacked out. I'm back. Whew! "Dry" for three hours now. It's a whole new world. LOL.
there are a few things i picked up from watchtowerism that i still find value in.
(although, i could have easily picked them up elsewhere.).
one of these is the 30-day test to abstain from all booze.. .

over the next 5 weeks, we should have 5 or 6 articles/posts that will provide more commentary on the march 15, 2015 watchtower.

If the WTS has dropped the type-antitype model....
Isn't the teaching of the "faithful and discreet slave" a type/anti-type??
If WT was genuinely dropping this approach to interpreting scripture certainly they'd also drop the GB= FDS nonsense too.
Typical WT- selective doctrinal changes only for the things they no longer care about.

@ DorkHouse: At least they are making an effort to clear up the goofy ideas they have had about prophecies.
Ummm... I don't think "god's sole channel of communication on earth" can have "goofy" ideas and still be
"god's sole channel of communication on earth".
'Clearing up' goofy ideas would rightly include an unqualified apology (in print) and making reparations for all the harm that's been done during the past 134 years. Anything short of that is disingenuous gobbledygook.
I won't hold my breath...

5 minutes dry now !! I'm shaky, light-headed and weak. Is this normal??
Going for 10 minutes...wish me luck.
"one member of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses repeated the well-known saying: 'to know where we are going, we have to know where we have come from.'".
you will find this statement on jw.org - under activities - the museum - "a tour through time.
there jw.org is featuring a slick advertisement for the tour at brooklyn, bethel, of watchtower's museum containing their version of the history of the organization.
@ Blackfalcon98: I recall an elder once warning me against reading older publications. Now I understand his concerns.
Ironically, the elder was himself resisting WT counsel.
"You will find valuable information in the older publications." -- Our Kingdom Ministry, Jan 1988, p. 7
The above statement creates a conundrum for a JW, because with enough reading they'll soon realize something is rotten in Denmark, and they'll have to weigh the obvious disturbing information in older publications with this piece of WT counsel:
"... Jehovah is not pleased if we receive that food as though it might contain something harmful. We should have confidence in the channel God is using." -- W 2-15-81
yes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.
They have never made up there own prophecies*- just screw up what God's mean.
AND I think they really feel they HAVE been "chosen" as a FDS CLASS.
Does anyone see the glaring self-contradiction in this statement? The WT/FDS is allegedly god's "chosen" organization, yet they "screw up" what god means.
To DorkHouse and similar ilk: I pity you and the god you worship. It must be hell to put all your faith in a deity who demands your obedience and that you fully understand his message, or face execution, yet this same god continually throws you under a bus by sending messengers that screw up his message.
* DH...if you truly believe WT has never made up their own prophecies, then you obviously do not know anything about the religion you're devoted to, and certainly have no basis for coming here to defend them.

anthony morris is ranting against higher education.
he is blaming parents for enrolling their kids in college.
Billy: Just pick some newboy with barely a GED to become the bethel doctor, wouldn't that prove that university training doesn't matter?
Fact: MEPS was designed by a Bethel newby in his spare time when he wasn't making cheese or scrubbing toilets. Jehovah helped him with all the technology.
If ToMo needed heart surgery (assuming he has one) I wonder if he'd "trust in Jehovah" and have a Bethel janitor do it? Or, would he opt for a university-trained surgeon to do it (even if the surgeon was wearing tight pants)???
Oubliette: Question: If YOU were the leader of a fairly significant world religion, would your main message be?
I've thought about this many times. If I was given the means to send any message I wanted to at least 8 million people, what would I say? I know for damn sure I wouldn't talk about "Sparlock The Warrior Wizard" or the purported evils of some dude who wears tight pants and has impeccable hair.
These WT Talking Heads sure don't seem to remember the scipture they used to hammer on ad nauseum when I was growing up: "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks". The fact that these GBtards have nothing substantial to talk about, but instead focus in unsubstantial, inconsequential, trivial minutiae speaks volumes. It betrays, if nothing else, that they really don't care about love, compassion, charitable works or bettering this life for themselves or anyone else on planet earth. They are focused on nonsensical rules and busy work, that's all.

We all know that there is absolutely no competition within the ranks of the JW Organization
Yeah, but at least you're not getting paid for it
in the long winter nights you need some good tv shows to watch while you wait for the eternity between seasons of game of thrones.. we've watched marco polo (pretty good) and have just started watching orange is the new black which is not at all what i imagined (didn't know it was funny!).
house of cards is on the list too as we've heard good things about that.. anyone have any others that are worth seeing?.

I delved into older WT publications and was called an "apostate" by the JW elder I shared my information with.
This is yet another example of a catchy little WT phrase, but like the rest of what WT does it's not meant to actually be applied in real life.
