FMF: A Wake Up Story
by freemindfade insorry for the length of this, i hope anyone stopping by to read will take the time and read it.
i haven't included any things i would consider "apostate" specifics about doctrines, or major scandals.
it's just a general layout of the path i took to becoming an exjw.

Thanks for sharing FMF. It is especially meaningful to me because we went through similar events and experiences that led us to the same conclusions. -

Does Anyone Still Believe in God?
by LaurenM indo any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?
even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.
the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

No. I don't believe in the god of the bible. I do believe that Jesus was a profound man who taught some good things useful for our life today.
This beautiful planet is the closest thing to a god for me. I stand in awe and wonder of the things existing on and in her. She is a beautiful queen and an abusive **ich at the same time. Some of the most beautiful skies I have ever seen are just before a killer typhoon. Beautiful jungles are loaded with living organisms that want to kill you etc.
I'm always willing to look at any evidence provided, though.

It's got to be annoying that they keep changing the meeting formats every few years. Most people want stability and routine when they go to their indoctrination sessions. They can't even get that anymore. -

After Death Communications in the JW community
by jack2312 inmy name is jack and i'm looking for after death communications from the jehovah witness community.
an after death communication (or adc) is when a loved one sends a kind of message to this side of life after their death.
it can be a dream or smell (like perfume or roses that would be attached to them in memory) or a feeling of their presence.

Sorry. I got nothing. Never seen or felt nothin'. I've even sat in the middle of a huge Buddhist graveyard near my house - in the middle of the night - all alone hoping to feel or sense something from beyond the veil. Even my Stephen King induced imagination couldn't conjure up anything unusual. I guess some of us just don't have the sixth sense.

The same relative also related to me that one night he went to the bathroom in the early hours of the morning and someone came out of the bathroom and disappeared down the hallway.
I once saw an episode from the TV show Unsolved Mysteries years ago that dealt with that same incident. It freaked the hell out of me. That show was so awesome and believable as a kid.

So that was what the neighbors were screaming their bloody heads off over! i was wondering what all the shouting and celebrating was about. My interest ends after baseball, American football, basketball and ice hockey.
Good for Japan.

Awesome Obie!
I'm very happy to hear of your success. You've overcome so much. Hopefully your kids will see that you are happy and successful and will wake up as well.
My decisive moment was when we were covering Deuteronomy 18-22 for the bible reading last fall. Somebody commented on Deuteronomy 18:20 about how we need to preach the message strictly from the bible and strictly from truth so as to avoid false prophecy. Well, already knowing the history of 1925 and1975 from reading the Proclaimers book, that was a huge WTF moment for me. I had never considered the implications of those scriptures or recalled reading them before. False prophets were to be put to death!!! If Rutherford was a false prophet then that means... holy shit!!!
The ironic part was, I hadn't been to a meeting for a few weeks because I was just sick and tired of dealing with fake people and preaching a message of doom and gloom. I decided to man up and go to a meeting for some encouragement (and for family unity) and that's when the Deuteronomy doozy hit me and I knew that would be my last meeting - and it was.

The best surgery for men, Hernia surgery.

LOL. Great thread! I had a hernia in my groin and they meshed me up. Took almost a month to get back to 100% . Hernias suck, but I'm glad I got the surgery. There is nothing like trying to hold your guts in when you are laughing too hard or trying to take a #2. My kid had a hernia when he/she/it was born, but thankfully it went away naturally. -

Lurker trying to gain clarity
by questioningmyfaith inhello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.
i am not negative towards the wt at all.
so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

QMF,
I hope you find some peace of mind. I can't imagine the stress it must cause to be an elder and an agnostic at the same time. It wasn't easy to admit to my feelings and the evidence that there was no global flood and that humans were walking the earth, making tools, hunting and burying their dead long before the mythical Adam and Eve were supposed to exist. Tsunamis and earthquakes ruined any chance of belief that I could have in a loving god existing. It was only logical then, that an organization that treated my disfellowshipped family members like dirt was the first thing to be thrown out of my life. I have no time for harmful religions that promote intolerance and use familial love to blackmail members into remaining in the religion.

The Greatest Paradox
by Perry innow that i have been a born again christian for 10 years, i see things that just boggles my mind.
like this: we all spent untold hours in the field service telling people (mostly christians) about the paradise earth.
that was the reason we were at their door.

Perry Perry quite contrary,
How does your fantasy grow?
With silver bells and cockleshells
And pretty maids all in a row.
I wish the Perry that existed 14 years ago was still posting. That Perry's posts had much more depth, sympathy and normality. Now it's just the same old same old, tying in whatever you can come up with to support and proselytize the Born Again Cult.

Just read it on CNN! Neanderthals who possibly buried their own dead. Imagine that! Sophisticated humanoids who lived 10,000+ years ago. I wonder if the ransom applies for them, too.
