Lord Jackson didn't really get animated and come to life until Stewart asked him if there was any scriptural precedent for the JW's shunning arrangement. "Why yes Mr. Stewart, thank you for allowing me to delve into that point. In the bible I would like to show you..."Then, hilariously, Stewart cut him off and changed the direction of the topic. It was obvious that the issue of shunning and control gave Jackson an instant hard on and his dead fish eyes immediately came to life.

in todays news from australia it appears that, despite his previous declination to appear when invited, justice mcclellan from the australian royal commission on child sex abuse will officially summon brother geoffrey jackson to the stand after all.. ..... the commission was due to conclude its hearings into the jehovahs witnesses on wednesday but justice mcclellan said he will now call geoffrey jackson, a senior member of the churchs governing body in new york who is currently in australia, to appear next week.. .

They are gonna need lots of extra seats in the courtroom for his body guards, his helper, his lawyers and his psychiatrist.

I seriously doubt he has the sack to show up. If he does, here is what i would ask:

How do you, the GB, make policies? Is it by a majority vote?

Were you appointed by the holy spirit or by men? Are you inspired prophets?

If inspired, how does god communicate with you? Did he tell you directly to keep the "two witness rule" when dealing with an abuse accusation? Or are you just enforcing a bronze age rule to deal with complicated modern problems?

Mr. Jackson, your religion is responsible for breaking up families, isolating and shunning those that disagree with your ever changing doctrine, and protecting pedophiles from getting the punishment, rehabilitation that they need from trained law enforcement. How do you respond to this current reality?

i popped into town this morning to buy an anniversary card for mrs cofty.

it is market day on a saturday and it's tourist season so the town was very busy.

here is a picture of the scene from a year ago... two cult carts were in their favourite place being guarded by none other than one of the elders who was on my judicial committee, his wife and another jw woman in her electric disability buggy.

Why I have renounced Atheism and become a believer again

i have always said that if a god showed itself i would follow the evidence and renounce my atheism.

i have now seen enough to start believing again, i am so happy, i feel a inner contentment, when he connected with me i really knew it was him.

if you are not a believer you will not understand this, but trust me, look at the evidence, open your heart to him, let him in and your life will change for the better.

I'm happy for you man. If you want to believe, believe. Just please convince your god to be a kind, loving god, unlike the one I grew up fearing.

There is nothing wrong with having faith in something. My faith is that goodness will prevail over evil, and good men will continue to carry the torch of developing civilization.

i wanted to write a post discussing those things, hopefully to clarify what those things are, why they are important and how to use those tools.

first, logic, at its core, is simply a method for how to reason validly, how to draw conclusions based on a premise.

Very informative.Thank you. Some of us (such as myself) are new to challenging established beliefs, doctrine or entering the field of debate. It helps to know the universal ground rules. Up until recently, I just believed what I was told at face value. I honestly thought my religious leaders would never use half truths, circular reasoning or outright deception.

Exposing one's identity. When?

i've been toying with the idea of just coming out and posting my name and location as an attempt to be available to locals that secretly browse the forum that have known me for up to 25 years.

( "reaching out", so to speak ).

i'm not da'd or df'd, so this most certainly could end in a dramatic confrontation.

Sorry to hear about such a difficult situation. All is not lost. The first thing to do is calm down. Be better than the people around you by being respectful and avoiding rage. The white hot emotional part to all this will pass. You seem to really love your wife so maybe it's time to set up boundaries and at least from your part try to avoid talking about the JW religion and ongoing news with her.

JW robots always use the apostate card to defend themselves. I was (and still am) worried about a family member being suicidal because of the way they treat df'd ones. I tried to talk about a better way to handle her at the kingdom hall with the COBE in her hall. It didn't take him long to attack my loyalty to the organization and start telling others I had apostate leanings. You can't reason with these stupid zombies. For your own sake try to temporarily ignore them and focus on other positive team oriented, constructive projects, hobbies you can do with your wife. Currently the wife and I planted a butterfly garden. We also go for short nature walks and hikes. These little things have been a great distraction from all the noise.
