i got mine saturday and the first thing that caught my eye was the crown of thorns.. does anybody remember when the jw's used to insist that the crown of thorns was intended to humiliate, but not inflict pain and that the catholic church had it all wrong when they showed the thorns piercing flesh?.

If man evolved?
by tornapart ini know anyone who believes in evolution is going to say that there is no 'if' about it.
however.... if man evolved over hundreds of thousands of years ago, why were there only about 200-300 million people alive 2,000 years ago?
surely there'd have been many billions by then?.

asking questions and discussing something on it's merits, is not arguing. It is how a person learns. It is not a silly arguement, it's not even an arguement.
It's a discussion. Isn't that the whole point ?
Cant leave - I'm going to check back on that, as I doubt I scoffed at crofty. And of course wisdom teeth and infections can kill people.

i have been lurking here for some time and i decided to start posting with this intro.. im from europe, both my parents are jw's, my parents are both teachers (math teachers).. my parents are "softcore" jw's, they accept all my questions and try to answer them.. i am trying to "convert" my dad (an elder which might complicate things), me and my dad recently had various discussions about the org ("discussions" on the good sense of the word).. we talked about jehovah in the nt, 1975, 1914, gb in 1st century, the cross, "new lights" ..., you know the usual stuff.. and all is going well i think, i think i can "convert" him until the end of summer.. i mean is a logical man, what can go wrong ?
man, when i found jwfacts it was like my world had collapsed, all thoses lies .... but its good now to have found the truth.

comatose - asking questions and seeking facts and hard evidence where available is not a rant - or is that how you perceived it ?
lets not forget, we came out of a cult where we believed, as fact, things told to us by 'un-educated, unqualified men'.
so, I do not, generally, just 'trust' what people say, because they said so. If they come back with, i researched this, read this, got these facts from .. then it is totally different.
Of course our world has chnaged much in 100 yrs also, but aids is still killing people, along with many other diseases.
So we have to be specific and nail dowe 'which' era we are talking about when we present facts about 'society', 'history'.
There is a huge difference straight away in ' society that lives off the land, rural, society that lives in cities, urban.
Therefore the two have to be presented as such, is my thoughts.
Rawe - do we equate humans merely as evolved animals ?

a team of swedish scientists led by evolutionary geneticist erik axelsson from uppsala university have identified genetic changes that could have been responsible for the transformation of wild wolves, into the ancestors of our beloved pet dogs.
