What Role Does JWD Play in Your Social Life?

sometimes i feel like i spend to much time visiting the forum but then i remember that when i left the org.

my social circle went from literally hundreds down to about 5 or 6.. so no guilt at all--i'm glad to to be here and am grateful to everyone of you!

What hoops would a DA'd person have to jump through to get reinstated?

i know a woman in my ex congregation that da'd herself years ago and has been trying to get reinstated for the last 2+ years.

i rememeber it was quite the scandle when she left because she sent out some apostate literature and started going to church.

i can't imagine why she would go back to the lie after knowing it's history.

Fortunately I can't get reinstated because I was never baptized. I left that cult as a teen and I have no intention of ever going back. I was just curious how long the woman I know will have to sit at the back of the kh like a second class citizen. Something tells me they would treat a known apostate differently than someone who was df'd.

that sounds like the process for some who has been df'd. I am talking about someone who DA'd themselves. Say they are considered apostates, or the "worse" kind outspoken ones. Do they make them set at the back of the KH for years and years?

We ordered the 3 course meal which was $98 a pop. So the $400 did not even include tax and tip. So we spent close to $500 actually between the 4 of us. Places like that you tip well because the service is impeccible. Look at the menu. You can get a good idea of the fine cooking this place has. None of us indulged in the liquor or it would have been so much more. Now the topic of conversation. There were some memorable moments and they asked how the family was doing and such. We did touch on my sister though who is df'd. Now they asked me a long time ago when I was coming back and I told them never. They asked why never and I said because its a cult that breaks up families. They know that's what I think of their religion and they still wanted to come and stay with me. I guess me not getting baptized they are willing to make allowances. Plus they think my dad has brainwashed me against the witnesses. Back to my sister. They asked me how she was doing. They have not spoken to her in like 14 years. So I told them how wonderful she is doing. I said she and her husband are doing great and that their business is very successful. They are building a beautiful new house on 10 acres of land they just bought. The reason I went into so much detail is because witnesses think that when you leave the cult your life goes to shit. I wanted them to know how great her life has been outside the cult. I told them how great her kids were doing in school and their future plans for college. They then asked me if any of them go to KH. I then told them they knew the answer to that and why ask a question they already know the answer to. It's kind of funny because my mom blames me for the grandkids not attending. When I quit going they quit. I know she told them that because it's a really sore topic with her. Then they asked me about my brother and they made a curt little remark about him getting a divorce. You know it's such a shame that 2 of the 4 of you have been divorced. Like they were saying if they had Jehovah in their life they would not be divorced. I responded that he is so happy to be divorced and he has a great new GF who he is crazy about and I told them about his wonderful high paying job. That he plans to branch out on his own soon and start his own business. Then they asked about my other brother and made a curt remark about how they heard his wife left him and their son. I said you don't even want to go down that road. What really happened is my brothers wife moved next door because her and my brother needed a breather from each other and they got back together a week later and are very much back together. They even had another baby a year ago. I felt they did not need to know what happened so I did not tell them because it's none of their damn business. So I said enough about my siblings lets talk about you guys. They told me they were so happy and fillfulled they were serving Jehovah. How they were pioneering and I asked them what kind of work they did. Two of them clean office buildings at night and the other works as a waitress part-time. I asked them if they still lived at home? The standard of living in CA is so high that it must be hard to make it only working part-time. Yes they still live at home. They plan to continue to live at home as long as they pioneer. They asked me if I had a BF. I told them I was dating 3 different guys. They asked me if they knew that. I said of course. That's one of the fun things about being single being able to date different people w/o the expectation of marriage. My cousin the really greedy one said that he could not imagine dating 3 different women at the same time. I said you don't know what you are missing out on. Then I said just because I am dating 3 different guys does not mean I am sleeping with them. People in the big bad world don't necessairly go to bed with a different person every weekend. Then we talked about some other family members who are very happy serving Jehovah. That's what it always came back to with them how happy they were serving Jehovah. How content they were. Blaw blaw. I don't believe it for a second though. You could tell they were missing something from their lives. One thing we talked about the witnesses was the do more do more do more. I asked them if they ever get sick of doing more. When is enough enough? You know what they did not have an answer for me. As usual they quickly changed the topic to something safe. Those were the interesting conversations we had. It was an interesting 2 days but I sure do not want to see them again.

australia has a severe shortage of skilled workers and is targeting brits - very successfully.. last year nearly 100,000 brits moved here.. the australian 4 feb... "the big lure wasn't economic..it was a new lifestyle and better opportunities for the kids.

and the big sweetener was the exchange rate.

prospective workers owned homes worth about (pounds)160,000 to 190,000, or about $450,000.

I've always been very facinated with Australia, more so than any other country. At one point while in college I was going to study there for a semester but I just could not come up with the money. I am finally at a point in my life where I could actually afford to go. I just don't want to travel by myself so it might be a year or more before I could go but I definetly plan to visit. If I love it that is one country I would consider moving to.

The way they see it, your're going to be dead at Armageddon anyway. They might have to wait until you're officially dead to move into your house, but they can pick your pockets now.

Exactly!! By the way they acted I could tell they wanted my lifestyle. The thing is I have had to work my ass off to get where I am. I work 12 hour days, weekends even to get ahead in my career. You cannot be a pioneer and work part time and have the things I do so I guess why not try and get as much from me as possible. I wasn't going to have it. I am sure the most greedy cousin has called first dibs on my house after armageddon.

I don't think she knows what they are like. Mom can be a peice of work sometimes but noway she would expect me to pay for a $400 dinner. What I think will happen is they will tell her some twisted version of events and mom will call me up to chew me out for whatever transgression they accuse me of then I will tell her what really happened. Then I will be pissed for her not asking my side before chewing me out then I will not talk to her for weeks. Then she will be calling me apologising and trying to make things right with me. To prevent this little scenario i am going to call her before they do and let her know how they took advantage of me. I will let you guys know how it goes.

My mom asked me if some of her JW relatives from CA could come and stay
with me for 2 days and see some of the sites. I was not thrilled with
the idea but what the hell. I have read some of the posts written by
stillawitness about the freeloading pioneer sister who lives with them
and oh my god can I relate now. They decided they wanted to eat at one
of the most expensive restaurants in my city so I take them. Silly me
thought we would pay for our own meal. The bill is over $400. The
waiter asked how we would be paying and I said I would pay for myself and
I then she asked them if they wanted separate bills as well. My cousin
asked her to give us a second. He then has the GALL to ask me why I
was not paying because they were guests. I was SPEECHLESS but soon I was
not. I told them it was their idea to come here and that they had some
nerve to expect me to pay. I motioned for the waitress and she gave me
the bill (for my part). The dubs were shaking their heads. I was like
you are crazy if you think I am going to shell out this kind of money
for you guys. I also told them the only reason I let them stay with me
was because mom asked me too. My cousin was like I don't want to
discuss this. So anyway they paid their share of the bill and we leave.
Now this happened on the first night which was Thursday night (shouldn't
they have been at KH?).

Friday morning they wanted to go to the gym. Mom told them all about
it and how it was practically a country club. I can get in 2 guests for
free on my membership so that meant one would have to pay a $35 fee to
get in. They were squabbling among themselves who would pay the fee.
I shit you not they asked the attendant to pick a number between 1 &
100 and whoever was the furtherest had to pay to get in. I was
mortified.

After the gym they wanted to go see some of the sites so we went site
seeing. They were acting all spiritual and tried to witness to people.
They were not given the time of day. So Friday night they wanted some
wholesome entertainment so I took them to what I considered a PG-13
comedy club. Big mistake. The first comedian used the word bitch and
ass. Oh dear. They said they wanted to leave. I told them to leave if
they wanted but I was staying. They stayed but were pissed about it
even though they could not help but laugh at some of the "dirty" jokes.

So we get back at around 10:00 p.m. and they proceed to tell me that I
am the worst host that they will not be coming back. I was like you
promise??? Then my cousin said he was going to tell my mother about how
I acted. PSSTTT!!!!! I am so scared.

So today they asked me if they could stay until Sunday. I asked them
why they would want to stay with such a terrible host and I replied they
had over stayed their welcome and no they could not stay another night.
Oh boy did they let me have. They said I made them feel unwelcome from
the minute they got there and they did not know how my mother put up
with me and why she tries so hard to stay in my life. I told them they
were freeloaders and had stuck their noses up in the air at me since we
were small children and always made me feel unwelcome when mom would
take us to CA to visit them. They then said we had nothing in common
because I was not spiritual and had an attitude problem. They left. They
are gone and they will no longer be welcome in my house. Good
riddance.

JWs knock on my door three times in one week

my husband is off work at the moment recovering from a double hernia operation.

the jws knocked one day and our friend, who was here doing a bit of painting for us, answered the door and simply told them he wasn't the householder.. then at the weekend, early on a saturday morning, they knocked again.

i was in my nightclothes and had only just gotten up, or i would have answered.

That's happened with friends of mine. I have heard of them showing up at their work or late at night.
