Tigerman, to be honest, yes I would if I were in that situation, I would likely be weak and look for a quick handout.
But I'm not in that situation, never have been, and never expect to be. In any event, I would hope that I could receive truly helpful treatment rather than get organization and training on how to be a better bum.

I've never heard of a court upholding the parent's right to decide. The doctors always get the ruling.

But perhaps the bleeding-heart types that give money to bums on the street are at least partly responsible for having bums on the streets - they should be so proud.

If you give money to bums, you can expect more bums.
In many urban and suburban areas, they are trained and organized. They receive instruction on how and when to make eye contact and how forward they should be. They work 'their corners' in shifts. Their bleeding-heart enablers pick them up and drop them off. They're a blight and they get not a dime or a doughnut from me.

Funny you should ask about Ric Bonnell. He got to the Franklin hall just as I was leaving. I never met him. But we corresponded a bit when I found him here. He knows all my friends and the formerly JW side of my family. But he was a strange story. You see, he and a friend used to stir up quite a bit of trouble here on this board. Perhaps you know the Rizzo brothers of Northbridge and Framingham? Well, they seemed to delight is ticking off everyone here with anti-jewish and holocaust denial threads.
I never did find a way to reconcile the two personae: the abusrd and provocative stances taken on threads here, and the sincere, thoughtful family man I knew through personal correspondence. My best guess was that he has a skewed sense of humor and was bored, so he liked to stir things up.
What was Ric's JWD name, you ask? A lot of the oldsters here remember. Ric Bonnell is ... da da d daaah ... Pomegranate. Take a look at his old stuff.

And I did remember "Wambolt" as soon as I hit the submit. We called him "the Bolt". He sure was agressive on the ice - great fun.
