i'm prompted to ask this question as i ponder the troubling picture found on page 260 of my wife's isaiah volume two book.

as farkel noted in a previous thread related to this illustration, there's nothing inadvertant about anything depicted in their literature; illustrations such as these are calculated and group-approved for the imagery and message they convey.

as those of you with access to the book in question are aware, staring back at the reader are four cadaverous faces of recognizable members of the governing body surmounting an array of smaller portraits of a non-descript multi-ethnic and varied age assemblage of ``other sheep.".

Every now and then something gets posted that stuns me. That WT quote did just that. How much more evidence could anyone need. The WTBTS leadership knows damn well that they spew lies and expect the R&F, including R&F Annointed ones, to swallow those lies hook, line, and sinker.

Not one person in the leadership could possibly forget how they used to portray the Annointed class as some collectively-inspired set that would somehow nudge the WTS into revealing New Light. Then to publish such a departure - to declare that the Annointed-at-large have no special role - is to abandon one of the basic tenets of JWs.

They plan it to look like just so much clarification, but they are changing their teaching on how they change their teaching. Yup, New Light on how they get New Light.

Makes me sick.

i just recently found this forum and found it very interesting to read.

i'm not a jw nor have i ever been.

i grew up in a christian home and was always told not to accept flyers or magazines from jw's.

Yunno, sometimes we do some good around here. It is very much our priviledge to give you a heads up on you new 19-yr-old-J-dub friend's religion. You're already suspicious so I doubt you'll go much furhter with this guy. But tell you what, keep chatting with him. Get his opinions on things that most people should be concerned with, things like advanced schooling, community volunteering, plans for the future. If you take your time and listen closely, I think you'll be stunned by how much separatism and judgementalism has been drummed into his head.

New mindset of JW's.......?

i feel that the "true" feelings of a great percentage of jw's today is more along the lines of hoping that the society will somehow self destruct and they can be free, and that they feel trapped in this religion.

many jw's have confided with me...albeit in guarded terms, that they want out...but they can't do anything because of family and peer pressure.

it is a very guarded society, under a collective dictatorship regime.

Integ, nice point. I'll bet you're right, many dubbies could never picture themselves leaving of their own volition. But many just wish it would end. That way they'll never have to accept that they were so mislead and that they themselves mislead so many.

But I gotta tell ya, that 'pedophile issue' is much more than the rare and occasional event. No doubt it seems rare to the R&F. But I attribute that to the secrecy and the JW nature to see the Society as some holy, inviolate temple.

How Come Brooklyn Never Saw This One Coming?

books and magazines all full of dire warnings..stay away from the world..don't have sex outside of marriage..armageddon is just around the corner..avoid worldly associations..look out for this, look out for that.

the list goes on and on and on.. yet the wtbts predictors of doom and gloom department never, ever, in their worst nightmares, ever saw what it was that would prove to be their nemesis.. that ex-witnesses, the majority of them disfellowshipped and, therefore, supposedly gagged and without a voice, would find a way to communicate with one another via the internet.. i wonder if the fact that they brought this upon themselves is clear to them?

the irony is astonishing.

This media is exploited best by the young. I'm not sure those fogies could have stopped anything if they had been able to see it. What're they gonna do? move to Guyana? There is no way the society will be able to insulate its young from the web. These kids are bright and know how to find information - and they're not afraid of it.

Many feel that the web will be the downfall of the WTS. Maybe so. But it is, the sad part is that it will be via family division. Children will find the truth about the truth while their parents remain oblivious and unwilling to hear. The breakup of families turns my stomach as it is. It may be necessary, but it will be sad.

I saw a news report on this last night. I was impressed that they used the term 'disfellowshipped' in the report. Up until that report, I had only seen pictures of the murderer. But when I heard him talking, I had a small flashback or two. That prick sounded like just about any other smarmy, know-it-all, I-should-be-an-elder, and we're-better-because-we-have-the-truth asses that I walked away from so long ago.

Did anyone else hear him say that the reason that he didn't come clean with the authorities earlier was that he was not willing to be apart from his family as much as a year while he was doing time? So he killed them, put them in suitcases and threw them in the ocean instead.

Yup, JWs are the happiest people in the whole earth.

Depressed beyond Words...

did u ever feel so depressed u felt the only thing that could get rid of the pain was to commit suicide???

?...well i tried that tonite,i know its not a good thing ,but i felt it was the only way out..well im still here so i didnt do it,thank god,my wrists have lil cuts everywhere tho,i just hope no one sees them..if u guys remember me yall know it has been an ongoing battle with my parents cause i dont wanna be a witness.. now i literally cannot do nothing!

It is nice to hear from you. Like others have said, the feelings you are having are normal. Sometimes it just feels like the world is ganging up on us and won't let up. But you will do yourself a favor if you find someone to talk to - preferably a professional. Talking will help you realize that you are not alone and will give you a better perspective on how you are feeling. This stuff can spiral out of control on you.

You flaming hypocrite. Aren't you absolutely positive that he has been resurrected to heaven? - right now, in heaven, as the bride of Christ in heaven? Aren't you happy he's dead? Happy for him? Hasn't he reached his great reward? In heaven? Isn't this Jehovah's grand plan? and wouldn't mourning that plan be showing disrespect for Jehovah's grand plan? Wasn't he looking forward to it?

For those that appreciate the FDS' spiritual food at the proper time, the ansewr is a resouning 'Yes' to all the above.

Would it be better to have a halt to war topics ?

unfortunately, it seems that people are unable or unwilling to debate or discuss the war and stay civil.

people are accused of all sorts of extremes such as "advocating child torture and rape" if you are against the war or "being a mass murderer and war criminal" if you support it.. some people seem to want to be able to post anything they want and it be accepted verbatim while other people are denied an opinion that doesn't agree with theirs.. i for one am sick of it and i suspect that other people are too.. this is supposed to be a site for jw related issues.

Simon, let me toss in an point: I have had no difficulty avoiding the war topics - all of them.

I get my war news, lots of it, from the cable news networks, and I haven't opened even one war-related topic here. Is that pro- or anti-war-topic? I don't know.
