Jam, thank you. I also am agnostic, probably closer to atheist in that I no longer claim to know what god is. It might exist in the traditionally accepted form, but if it does it sure has been secretive about itself. I rather doubt the whole business. The writings...people wrote what they believed I suppose.

Jam, what does that mean that the rest is history? Maybe I am suppose to know, but I don't. Does coming here cause people to stop going to church too?

I used to visit churches. I found them all to be "nice" and not at all what we were taught as JWs. But I don't go to any for the very reasons that you mention. My opinion follows...Truth is not found at a place, so stop looking for it somewhere. It's not important anyway. Live and love, that's enough. I find God in a sunrise, in a sunset, in a waterfall, in the sound of birds, or in the ocean waves. That lifts me up and makes me happy to be alive. I don't need for someone to explain it to me.

Do you think the WTS is about to change the doctrine about 1914? If so, what are the signs that is under way?
by EdenOne inwhat the title says.
do you think the wts doctrine that says that christ was made king in 1914 is about to change?
if you think that's being orchestrated and prepared, do you see signs of that already?

Here is an idea, and I hope someone at Headquarters is reading. This will help. The WT will find a Biblical account that ties to the typical fullfillment year 1914. The Biblical account also includes a waiting period from the typical year 1914 to its grand anti-typical Jubilee. Some sort of restoration prophecy that can be used to count from 1914 to (40 [typical]years x 3 1/2 times) = 2054, for example. It has always been laid out in the Bible to be understood at Jehovah's appointed time.
In my best Fred Franz voice..."And Jehovah God...the grand time keeper has...uh...commissioned the anointed remnant since that pivotal year 19 hundred and 14, to reveal truths at the appointed time and not a day before. And so dear brothers, Jehovah God has before us the anti-typical fullfillment of the first phase of a never-to-be-repeated warning to all mankind....that...uh....Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God has been ruling since 1914 and CONTINUES to rule over the spiritual paradise and all his domestics...that is...well...ALL the Branches of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and all the duly appointed Branch Overseers. And we WELCOME the year 2054 and all that it promises to bring with the same conviction that we welcomed the year 19 hundred and 14!!!"

True Hortensia, about sometimes "we" still regard positions held in the org as if the former role makes one more important. My interest in a person's former role pertains what things they experienced or saw as a result, like former Bethelites or even Bethel elders. I would really like to hear former CO or DO perspectives now. Or a person who saw themsleves as one of the anointed, what that was all about.
But since we know now that our role was a role in a false organization, it doesn't matter so much. Me, baptized at 11, always doing the right thing. Then MS, then elder, then many parts on assembilies. My only claim to fame would be that I put effort into my delivery so that no one would have to suffer through 45 minutes of boredom listening to me drone on and on about the same ole same ole.

So true 00DAD. I went back to the KHall for a funeral some years ago. Even the funeral talk was packed with the nega-phrases. "This old wicked system of things" "the trials we face during the last days" "how Satan tries to discourage us"
What healthy person thinks this way? I used to. Life seems like a breeze now. And the magazine articles? Laughable if they weren't intended to be serious.

Oh Inisic....wait until they ask the male "did she climax." They will assume that the male did. And then they will ask the female if she climaxed. Why? Once again, in their perverted reasoning, her enjoyment will go to intentionally sinning and being lost enough in the sin to enjoy it to its full. I have been with elders who asked all sorts of crazy things.

Yes! Elders do ask whether a condom was used. And they ask even more detailed questions that border on being pervy that you would think there is no reason to ask. The condom question is used to establish premeditation and intent.
No condom. The accused says no, that things got out of hand pretty quick and it all happened so fast. Goes to no intent to commit sin.
Condom used. Oh? Where did the condom come from? Implies willful intent to commit sin.

Do some GB know the truth about the truth?
by Bob_NC indo some of the gb consciously know the truth about the truth and they just can't say it?
or are they all still under the spell?.
how about cos or dos?
-

I am inclined to go along with cedars and Londo (sorry LisaRose) that the GB is caught up in its own collective image of itself and is blind to the truth about the truth. Maybe a few individuals in their quiet moments may wonder, but I think they still shake it off and focus on the supposed higher responsibility entrusted to them. That interesting jwfacts about your dad. That's the way it was with me for years, Oh I knew something was not right but I could not bear to seriously investigate as I knew where it would lead. When I finally did...oh well.
