  now we have to answer...... 1) is there more than one god?

  how do you choose the most senior god?.

  2) if you chose religious texts to make this desicion, how do you know they are not purposfully misleading by an ill willed god?.

  It is possible to look on Jesus from a very different angle. Suppose that god se the earth as it is, wicked, dangerous, harmful, and ful of sin. He/she decides to send his son to save humanity. His son arrives and preach for all human beeings, hes got 12 diciples, and after 3 years of preeching, almost all people spit on him, punish him, destroy him and then hang him on a stake?

  Now suddenly god can forgive all humans becouse his son sacrificed his body and his life, for humans sake. Does god likes us now much more then before. ?

  Where is the logic? If I were god I should go mad and imideately destroy all those people involved in my sons death. For me the very the very basic of Christendom is based on a very unlogical thougt: God loved mankind so much that he sacrifised his own son, so that mankind should survive.

  Isn´t that the very basic of Christendom?

  i couldnt remember my log in details so i have now changed my username, which i feel is more relevant now anyway.

  Your story is very similar to mine. I have 6 children. All of them are saved and out. But my wife is still in. She is desperately clinging to her believes, and I just let her have her time. I think that one of the reasons that she still is in is the fact that she has commited a number of persons to get babtised. It is hard to back out with that background.

  I think, that if god does exist. He´s got a lot of explanations to be done. If he really does exist, I think that he/she really would be accused for a lot of crime with our present standard. I think that the court would find him insane, or more like a psycho. He would be imprissoned for lifetime or executed. Much better for him not to exist.

  It looks like we have a sort of free JW international Congs. Our KH:s are within our computer, and that we are free in the sense that we dare, openly disc. all the problems that everyone who is still in have. Very likely those who are still in will find this site because they are aware of their problems, and when they find a “channel” , who really talk to their hart, they will liberate themselves and “come out” in the free world vary rapidly. It´s like the fall of a totalitarian society, like the fall of communism’s. This is my hope anyway.

  I also think there is another factor. The society wants us to be very very busy, and invent knew ideas every day to keep us busy with their thoughts, so that we dont have the time to think of anything else. we are just trapped in the societys set-up and that make us unable to think for ourselves. This is why the societys hate the idea of education.

  If you go to school, there is a big chance that you might take up some new ideas and facts. Facts that the society does´t want to be spred. That is why the members in the cong. are to be shunning every memers of the cong. who would like to share new facts the she or he has aquired. I just come to think of the words of Paul, philosofers are to be shunned? The words Philosofers in original greek means "someone who loves the thrut"

  Interesting thread.

  We have often discussed wheatear JW.s are sicker than others. In my experience this is a fact. In private small investigations there is a ratio to out of 100 “normal” persons maybe 15% have some sort of dysfunction. In the JW.s congs I have been into more than 50% were “out of order”. Why is that so?

  Is it so perhaps, that people with problems are attracted to the teachings of the GB. All about the new Kingdom when everyone will be healthy, no thief’s, no murderer, no deaths a.s.f. and therefore they just want to believe all the crap from the society.

  Or, is it maybe so that people with less brain capacity (low IQ), are unable to understand the problems and the arguments that emerges when you accept WT teachings. And then they are sort of brainwashed, and are unable to find their way out from the brain trap that WT have set up for them.

  Or is it just the “social factor” that the congs. Provide for the “lonely people”

  I would like your theories about wich factor is most important.

  On request from ”friends thread” I would like to tell you my story. The subject from friends thread was simply : are JW,s more negative or more disordered than “normal” people?

  I was 10 15 years ago an elder. In our cong. I had to take care of theocratic school, and at least one point in the service meeting. I sat in comities, had at least one public speech per month in other congs. Often I was invited to give a talk in Circuit assemblies. As an elder I was expected to go preaching at least 10 hours per month. Beside from that I had a stressing full time job and I also had a family with 6 children. The pressure on me was enormous. Sometimes I didn’t even had the time to take care of my personal hygiene.

  All this resulted in a severe constant high blood pressure during 10-15 years. So about 10-15 years ago I was stroked with 5 hearth attacks, in a row of 2-3 years. 3 of them was severe and caused emergency transport with ambulance.

  My cardiologist (heart specialist) , told me that I do not only need heart surgery, but also Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). So I was ordered to contact a psychologist. I spent more than 40 hours with this therapist. She told me how to say NO THANK YOU , to everything that I did not really want to do.

  Hence I went to the elders in my cong and gave in my personal elder books, said to them that I never ever will attend any meeting again, that I never will going in the field service and or report any hours.

  I have now been out for more than 13 years, but my wife is still in. During this period I have never ever again had any heart attack. I can see the same tendencies with my wife and are deeply worried that she will suffer the way I did.

  Does anyone have these experiences? I have heard rumors that some DC have had hart problems. But are these problems often neglected in favor of others that we often discuss here such as mental disorder, ADHD, Fibromyalgia, depression a.s.f.

  Would like to have your opinion and exper.

  When I was in and an elder 10-15 years ago, the preassure on me as an elder coused severe high blodpressure symphtoms. All speaches you was expected to hold, all commities, talk at circuit meeting, eldershools, this together with a full time job and being the father of 6 children, was simply to much.

  The result was 5 hearth attacks, 3 emergency ambulance transport to a specialist in cardiology. The cardiologist understood my situation, and said you need not only hart surgery, but cognitive behavoiur therapy CBT. I went to the phsycologist for more than 40 hours. Coming out from this therapy I had learned that I must say NO THANK to every engagement that did not interested me. So instead just fading away from the cong. I resigned and openly said that I will never ever come to a meeting again nor will I report any field service. The other elders in the Circuit didnot dfsh mee. I think the scandal had been to big. Maybee they hope that I some day will be back again.

  Since my wife is still in, I hear sometimes rumors from the cong. And I have noticed, that almost every one of the congs. Members are in some way “out of order”. I hear dysfunctional diseases, such as ADHD, Paranoia, fibromyalgia, headache’s, depression, a.s.f. Especially, pioneering sisters, often call my wife in the morning saying they cannot go out in the fields today, but maybe next week. My wife seems to be quite happy with it, this makes her free from this field service another day. No wonders why preaching ours has being slow down in northern Europe. My guess is that of 35 members of our congs. Only 10 are effectively active.

  What Do You Read?

  as a jw, i read all the publications and tried to understand all "theocratic" watchtower policy.. i read 3 newspapers a day and rarely read a book or magazine, other than wt.

  stuff.. i read the bible a number of times and still find it a good read.. i love to read the internet news as well as the cherished drudge report.. what's your favorite read??.

  I like to read fact books, with subjects like History (ideeas, ecomical, or religious). Books written by scholars within these subjects and maybe essays from Archeological excavation, give me ammunution when CO:s and elders are coming to talk me into better thoughts. Usually it only takes 3-5 minutes for their visit. Then they raise their asses and run away in a hurry, they say they have sooo many other brothers to visit. (which I know they havent)
