I want to go see the movie and hide a laugh track (the audience laughter they use in sitcoms) under some dudes chair and hit the buzzer every now and then.

OK, I actually Saw the Passion
by Yerusalyim injust came home from seeing...the passion...after the movie there was a question and answer session with two rabbis that viewed it with us...and three priests from my parish...more on that at another time...though both rabbis said in their opinion the movie is not antisemetic, but that it could (would) stir up antisemetic feelings in those who already possessed them.. the movie was an overall good one.
it was interesting trying to figure out some of the symbolism...what did the baby represent???
i think i know, but i'd like to hear mel's take on it.. pretty gory stuff, not quite what i thought it would be, but still quite yucky.

Christianity the biggest scam ever!!!
by William Penwell inreading a number of posts here it seems like a fair amount of posters are still into and pushing the christian philosophy.
i would like to start a discussion here that objectively examines the evidence and not base a belief on "blind faith".
after leaving the jdubs, i have read a number of books over the past few years.

Using your standard, then, there is no conniving "evidence," or "proof" that Jesus did not exist.
That's lame-logic. This approach there is no evidence that God is not a porn star either. Does that make him one?

Liberal Equals Ex-JW
by patio34 insomething i've noticed on this board is that there seem to be many more liberal-left types than conservative-right types.
what do you think of my following theories?
in the 70s, many converts to jw-dom were influenced by the anti-establishment philosophy and anti-viet nam war.

Liberal and conservative are good words that have been applied to bad things to make the bad things pallatable.

Are Posters Deleted Forever?
by Simon inthis is a moderated forum and unfortunately it's occassionally necessary to deactivate accounts of posters who purposefully and/or repeatedly violate the simple & sensible posting guidelines, there to ensure that the forum is a welcoming and friendly place to visit.
most deletions are not permanent however.
we appreciate that some are the results of misunderstandings or personal circumstances coloring people's behavior.

The God of Christians is Very Vague
by frankiespeakin ini no longer consider myself a christian.. i feel that there may be a god, but if there is, he's not the god christians worship, for such a god makes no sense.. if as the bible says we need to have faith in jesus to get everlasting life,,, why would this god make it so misleading and leave so much room for ligitmate doubt,,, by having this information passed on to us by men and organizations that have not been totally honest????.
why would he use the bible to relate this information, when the bible is so full of errors????
the evidence is very clear that the bible has been tampered with over the centuries, so that a reasonable person can have legitimate doubts about the bible's origins.. also, why would god use men who are so prone to dishonesty, to convey this lifesaving information?.

Read all the books you like, and listen to all the people you want, but until you make a personal connection to the divine you'll never know. Further, you'll continue to believe that the divine does not exist.
LT,
So then if it is as you say it is there is no hope for me unless God contacts me. I cannot contact that which I do not know.

I personally wish to be identified with neither the Democrats or the Republicans.
Neither side represents my views sufficiently - they are both awful at the things that count.

All believers, including JWs, are mentally ill.
If you describe people who have an imaginary (cannot be proved) friends and who talk to the imaginary friends then are they mentally ill? If they said they had an invisible dog and kept talking to it would they seem mentally ill? How is this different - except for the fact that people do it en masse and the fact that they have done it for a long time and now they get away with it because they call their imaginary friend "God" and they tell the rest of us we need faith in order to know the friend is not imaginary but is in fact real?
