  We rejoice to announce that, with Jehovah?s blessing, the new money making equipment presses and bindery at Wallkill are now in operation. We warmly invite all of you to tour these streamlined (basic - no frills for the low level workers - they are all in the Executive Offices) facilities and to note the magnificent display of Contribution Boxes - a host of them so grand you will be moved to contribute from the bottom of your hearts wallets. How grateful we are to the brothers and sisters from seven nearby Regional Building Committees who have thus far wasted their and their families time contributed over 67,000 man-hours to the project! One such volunteer remarked: ?It was more than a privilege. I had to do it as the elders told me I would die if I did not. It was a nightmare dream come true for me.?

  In Brooklyn, brothers are now working slavishly diligently to renovate (we've owned it for years but it still needs renovating) the 117 Adams Street complex in preparation for the laundry and other essential support departments ( secret police, phone-tapping, surveillance etc) that are relocating there after the recent sale of the 360 Furman Street building. Hundreds of skilled workers from Regional Building Committees across the country are ?offering themselves willingly? in response to a special orders invitation to assist in this effort. (Ps. 110:3) The first of these volunteers clones arrived in August. Your heartfelt support (sending MONEY) of the expansion (how can we expand when we are closing and selling buildings and retrenchin - you tell me!) of pure worship endears you to us and to our appreciative God, Jehovah. ?2 Cor. 9:7.

  We are pleased to report that a new peak of 2,303,015 attended the observance of the Lord?s Evening Meal. Along with you, we look forward to ?having plenty to do in the work of the Lord? and seeing these contribute regularly, as we begin the 2005 service year. ?1 Cor. 15:58.

  to get a break from my jw parents when i was 17 (i'm 25 now) i took an apartment of my own.

  i was working full time and going to school.

  a busy schedule that allowed me to miss meetings without them constantly hounding me.

  ..how do these elders have the time and energy to staake people out until all hours of the day and night ? ..if the HS is playing an active part in "keeping the cong clean" then the elders should be at home with families - some sort of sick minds to do this sort of thing - do they get thrills from this?

  When will non-annointed men serve on the Governing Body?

  the society has many doctrines and practices which are plainly wrong.

  nonetheless, little dogma is, from an organizational standpoint, in serious need of change -- except one.

  for the society to continue any form of credibility with it's followers it will have to change it's understanding of who can lead the organization, in other words, who can become members of the governing body.

  Haydn Covington was on the (then) GB as Vice-President - but stood down when "light" shon on the issue

  Today the "helpers" of the other sheep run the day to day business - personally I think that regardless of the legal link between the GB and various legal entities that the old men still pull the strings - of course they must all die someday and doubtless some explanation will emerge to explain how this fits in with the pasy and that, as an example, the GB actually is now ruling FROM heaven thru other earthly representatives. Somehow they will cavort round the truth when the time comes - of course so many who would have questioned this have left / died themselves

  i know many of us felt we were doing "god's work" and did not have to spend time with our families or even do things for ourselves.

  our only focus was the ministry and the "truth"....... did you too, neglect yourself and your family??

  elders almost had to negklect family to carry burden/take the lead etc etc - with cong responsibilities only one place for the time to come from - not work - but time that should have been spent on the family

  since the watchtower has regularly disseminated "false prophecy" over the years and has given truly silly reasonings for their beliefs, let's give the society some ideas as to what they might put into the next watchtower.....i'll start----"since the elders are representatives of christ jesus himself, we should give them glory too.

  Be assured that we fall about laughing every time we lay some new task on you, whuilst always adding the caveat that you "must look after your families first"

  Here in Bethel we rejoice to see so many hard working elders completely fooled by our constant exhortations to do more.

  The purpose of this letter is to advise you of a new provision of our loving heavenly father Jehovah. All elders who disfellowship at least one person (apostates count as two) every quarter for this service year will be entered into a Theocratic draw (using the Ummim & Thummim) with the first 4 elder names drawn by such lot having the special privilege of joining us brothers of the Governing Body, at one of our many resort locations, funded by the wholehearted contributions of the worldwide brotherhood. During your stay you can have the use of our executive limousines, corporate jet(s) and all the luxuries of a 5 star Hotel with obedient sisters rushing to meet your EVERY need.

  Why not set aside some prayerful time now - ask yourself - who would benefit from Jehovah's loving disfellowshipment arrangement - any YOU could be the one benefiting - thats right Keeping the Congregation Clean takes on a whole new meaning and is much simpler than Green Stamps or Loyalty Cards - indeed your diligence in purifying the congregation is the ULTIMATE Loyalty Scheme

  A new chapter will be added to the Pay Attention Book dealing with this marvellous provision - the study title will be "Draw Strength from Jehovah who will provide (winners) with seasons of refreshing"

  So When and Why Did They Stop Feeding People At Assemblies?

  it seems nuts to me.

  the feeding of umpteen thousand using voliunteers was their "in" with all the local press.

  i know that cafeterias were still in use in '72 when i left.

  I think the reason was....money.........in the UK the Society were faced with having to pay VAT (value added tax) on food served/sold with a potentialy massive back-tax bill for previous years

  Health & Safety were factors but I recall a leading bethelite commenting that we did not want to have to pay the government anything out of the proceeds - so move to "free" (donate but donate more) I seem to recall some experiements of free food being served ( I know it was tried in Germany were a similar sales tax rule applied) When the brothers at the top saw that they could get the donatioins with little work they "simplified" things (except in the Administration Suites werew goodies still were readily available.)

  i love reading the perishers.

  unfortunately there is no way of reading the daily antics of these loveable kids and their old dog boot unless you buy the daily mirror.

  So How Does a Place Become A City In England?

  well, it has to have a cathedral in order to have city status.. the nearest city to weston s mare is the city of wells, about 35 minutes drive from here.. but, wells has a population of only 10,000 or so, one seventh that of wsm which is still rated as just a town.. wells is also the smallest city in england.

  we've taken a few people there to visit, the last was joy and steve who both post here.

  we visited there today with our nieces, here's some pics.

  City status is in the Queens prerogative and does not require a Cathedral - last Royal Proclamation of City Status was as part of the Queens Jubilee (BTW Queens prerogative means Tony tells her!)

  Every organization wants a good public image. I can't even say I'm much offended by the JW haters. But I think it is worthwhile to point out that some of the statements made on this forum are really mean spirited. Venting anger may relieve tension but it doesn't achieve any goal.

  Yes - every organisation would want a good, clean image but the dilema to me is that the WT claims, in a variety of ways, superiority over all other organisations on this planet - this superiority should be evidenced by a superior standard - that is not what I see

  Yes also, I am saddened at times to see pure JW hatred in posts on this board but can appreciate why some make such, yes they are venting anger but in every case different reasons add up to some cause which prompts them to pour out their JW hatred - not, again an assumption on my part, for the individual JW members, but for the organisation which directs them and claims moral superiority in all the earth yet evidences nothing different from the common herd of mankind. The process of leaving an organisation which has betrayed me and let me down (and likely so for many more) is one in which stages of anger, hatred, rage are parts, elements, of that process some can never leave such attitudes but others do move on to calmer waters. Yes mean spirited some comments may be and I think such serve no purpose in exposing the WT but I can understand those who feel moved to make such comments. Not all are literally capable of making a coherent argument relating to their own disappointments at the hand of "the organisation" yet this does not diminish the quality of their feelings/responses etc.

  The so called "murder letter" betrays to me an attitude of hypocrisy - it does not provide a scintilla of evidence of God's blessing on the organisation behind it and as such it is not surprising that so many hurt ones are outraged at such double standards.
