Find What Your Social Status Was in the Congregation
by Mary inever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?
the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:.
1. at the top of the social order of things within the congregation is of course, the presiding overseer and his family.

Cognac: Husband is completely, beside himself LIVID. He's going to the elders on me.
Nothing screams "CULT" like one family member turning in another.
There actually is nothing the elders can "do" to you. Sure, they can "disfellowship" you, but it sounds like you already cut off all "fellowship" with them a year ago.
Since your hubby is still under their thought/mind control, they can certainly mess him up which will no doubt cause all sorts of complications in your life. But he's an adult and he has to make his own choices.
Ask him why the ultimatums? You would never do that to him? Would you ever say, "You have to leave JWs or I'll leave you!"? But many JWs have left their spouses when they left the organization.
It's so twisted.

Has anyone actually read the study wt for sun nov 2nd????!!!
by stuckinarut2 ino m g...(yes that is a very childish reaction...but i couldn't think of a more appropriate expression!).
if you haven't yet read it...please do so..... it is so ridiculous!
so leading, so distorted, and full of "bait and switch" techniques.. "prove you have the truth"..by seeing how neutral witnesses were in war times?

But seriously folks, the very notion of "having the truth" as if "truth" is a thing that can be possessed by a single individual or group at the exclusion of others is simply a ridiculous notion.
If I know something that is true and I share it with you, be both now know it. If you share it with someone else, now all three of us know it. I can't somehow "lose" it even if we have a falling out.
The WTBTS talks about "truth" as if it was a tangible physical object rather than the abstraction that it is.
Let's review: It's a cult!

If simply being neutral during war identifies a group as "having the truth," then Quakers have it!

They're almost there now. The only things that make them different any more from any otther mainstream church is that they shun dissenters and those that accept blood transfusions.

Reaching Loved Ones Stuck in a Cult: Reciprocal Letter Writing
by 00DAD ini've been toying with an idea that i think just might have some legs.
so here i am trotting it out for all of you to consider and comment upon.
for many of us, we are extremely frustrated by the fact that we have no way to communicate with our loved ones still stuck in the organization.

Hamahead: I'm tempted to keep him at a distance now - the lack of integrity is unpalatable
You obviously are taking this very personally, but should you?
How does this person's actions affect you this way? Has he started shunning you? Or has he just done this to be able to reconnect with his own mother?
Being judgmental is a JW trait. We can disagree with a person's actions without condemning them simply because they do things we would not do.
