pressman: i think you all are living in fear.
We have ALL denied that and yet you insist to know our motivations better than we do even though you don't know a single one of us personally.
I think you are incapable of reason and rational thought.
do you want to know why i think people don't believe in god?
well i believe people don't want to believe in god because they are scared.
they know that if they finally do gorge the confidence to believe in him, he might discipline them for their skepticism.

after years of leaked info, the gb has finally decided to publish their own shepherding textbook in epub format.. dear brothers:.
we are pleased to inform you that the shepherding textbook is now available in epub,.
mobi, and pdf format.
Tim: Obviously you don't understand Deaf culture and ASL.
No, I don't.
But I do know that many, maybe even most, deaf people can read.
How would you put ASL in written form in a book? Can you please explain?

In due course, it will also be made available in selected sign languages
Yeah, this makes me think this is a hoax.
Deaf people can read. How would the elders' book be made into sign languages anyway? A series of videos? That just silly.

EO: Beware of in-house WT-developed spyware embedded into those files ... because no commercial anti-virus software would be able to trace it.
And what would the WTBTS do if they found out someone other than an elder had their precious little book?
from so many posts and conversations on here, you'd think over 1/2 the posters here possess doctorates in theology, physics, biology, etc.
i'm curious aside from the books and research people have done here, what degrees they have.
to start, i just got an aa and going straight through full time to an mba.
OC, you STILL didn't get the entire post, you just got me quoting cantleave.
Here's the whole thing:
cantleave: A degree can help open the door, but success once you have stepped through that door depends on many other factors.
True dat!
Mostly it depends on persistence and hard work.

If an elder is deleted for reasons other than moving to another congregation with a favorable recommendation, he should delete any electronic copies of the textbook in his possession.
Like that's gonna happen!
wife and i have not reported a single hour of fs in 3-4 months.
while my wife is mostly doing for me (positive thing), i know she would have rather done it.
elder asked me to turn in my fs report this past week and then he added... "we need to talk".
Elder ... added... "we need to talk"
Really? Do you have a problem with which you think I can help?
Because I'm all good!
so, the two local congregations were planning to hold their memorial together at 7:30 at the local community center, but they had to make a last-minute change to their own hall, and i'm pretty sure it was because of me.. let me explain.... at work on monday afternoon, a co-worker returned from her lunchbreak and showed me the memorial invitation that was waiitng in her door when she went home for lunch.
i noticed the sticker on the back indicated the memorial was being held, not at the local hall, but at the community center.
from a past (non-jw) event i attended there, i knew they didn't allow alcohol (unless you pay for security guards), so i wrote to the center's coordinator:.

OrphanCrow, why did you quote me quoting cantleave?
i came across this site and love it, just full of interesting things to read.
this one is particularly good about whether we are alone in the universe (as intelligent life) and what different scenarios could play out:.

Very cool! Thanks.
The Fermi Paradox
My only concern with an article like this is that, although it is peppered with scientific facts, it is primarily speculative in nature.
Readers that are not scientifically literate will read it and not be able to keep track of what parts are speculation and what are fact based and as a result come away with a mixed-up, hodge-podge of misinformation thinking: it's science.
