Specific Comments By R&F About May Broadcast
by freemindfade ini know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!
but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.
i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

Just to qualify this a little, since I stopped going to meetings and have clearly shown my apostate side, she has gone into drone overload, more service, studying more, not even missing the occasional meeting, and sadly reporting everything I say and do to the elders.
How can ANYONE act like this and not see that they are in a cult?!?

German Branch visit talk Mark Sanderson (Parents; don't hinder young children to get baptized)
by Daniel1555 inthe video streaming of the german branch visit program was excrutiating 3.5 hours long.. i just went to see the last 45 min (part of mark sandersons talk).. i think sanderson is quite a sympathetic speaker and he kind of made a loving impression.. he didn't mention controversial stuff (except for one thing i will come to soon).
he mostly talked about how to find joy, even when life is not easy, and how much the gb loves the rank and file.. one point seemed soooo important to him.
parents and children.

Can someone remind me, please? How old was Jesus when HE got baptized?

Are the writers in the writing department purposely misquoting people?
by paulmolark inafter reading that great post about the june 1 article on science i got to thinking.
although it is great to believe there is this huge group of guys in the jw writing department that are constantly looking to mislead us by twisting the words of scientist etc... i really think it is more likely they are google researchers that do not have the ability to grasp the thoughts that are being expressed in the scientific article they quote mine from.. i honestly believe the reason that this happens is because of the individuals they use to write these magazines.
these are not college educated men.

by New day insomebody on another thread suggested that those still in could express their opinions on steven lett's performance.
i am still in and i was shocked, dismayed and saddened by it.
i became a witness over 30 yrs ago and the issue of donations was a non-issue for so many years.. now, it is a huge one for the org.

Stephen Lett: "In 130 years Jehovah's Org. has never solicited funds and we are not going to start now"
Good, then don't.
But then he goes ahead and does.
What an effin' liar!
Let's review: It's a cult!

Are Jehovah`s Witnesses a CULT?
by Driving Force insteven hassen is a well known name for many, if you do not know him google can help.
this information is certainly not new, but as almost every exjw has deep affection and concern for active jws it is certainly my wish and i hope the wish of other exjws that any active jw considers this information.
this information cannot be deemed as apostate, it is just stating the opinion of someone who has spent much of his adult life in helping people to realize what a cult is.

Driving Force (aka DF), thank you for the detailed analysis.
Now let's review: It's a cult!

DOT, I think bats and nelim already nailed it.
The one thing that is clear, is that the WT writers do not understand how to use quotes correctly, honestly or even with appropriate academic/journalistic attribution.
The WT leadership cultivates a mythical image of "scholarship" among themselves and their writers, but the fact is they would fail any freshman high school assignment in any subject for abject plagiarism.
That being said, I think it's a really good exercise to track down the source of the quotes, which is not made easy because the WT doesn't cite their sources properly--if they do it at all.
Learning to think critically and to think for ourselves is one of the best gifts we can ever give ourselves!

"The organisation is imperfect, but it doesn't affect my relationship with Jehovah"
by Alive! ini've noted active, devoted jw's state the above.. and, it's not a problem for me to remain trusting of god, i just don't trust religions or men.. recently, a member of this forum stated that he remains an active jw, in the family of god's people, wanting to encourage and do good - whilst recognising that the pastoral leaders (the gb) have shipwrecked the faith of many, being unsound scripturally etc, etc.. stop and think about this - the bible says to not follow after those who lie and hurt the faith of "little ones".. the pharisees were accused of traversing over lands and expending much energy to make a single convert - only for that convert to end up worse of than he started off with.. it's one thing to not believe this is the 'truth' and feeling the awful pressure of managing ones life, trying not to lose ones family.. it's quite another thing to declare oneself to be a christian believer of god's jw household, and somehow believe the god of love would use corrupt liars to parade as jesus' brothers in the urgency of last days.
really?
and, to then visibly promote faith in corrupt men, and try to bring converts into a place where the rulership is wrong.. some of us are dying from hurt here.......give me a break..

To the point of the OP:
That's fine, but it SHOULD affect your relationship with the organization.
Since the people running it are clearly a bunch of "imperfect" men that just as clearly have made, are making and will continue to make mistakes, then we don't need to be so worried about "obeying" every little thing they say. In fact, we don't have to worry about pretty much anything they say.
So relax. Get an education. Take that better job. Save for your retirement. Heck, wear colored socks and tight pants if you want. I don't even care if you wear Spanx in public.
It's your life. Live it.
And don't forget: It's a cult!

What is the message nowadays?
- For men: Don't wear tight pants or colored socks
- For women: no Spanx in public
Oh, and don't forget to send us money!
