Abuse of Power - Today's WT Study, May 10, 2015 (w2015 3/15)
by Oubliette inok, so i only read the wt study articles to keep up with the indoctrination that my two "still-in" children are being subjected to.
when i read this in today's wt i nearly blew a gasket: .
[naboth] held to jehovahs law in the face of horrific abuse of power.

Are you religious or are you spiritual? Wake up to what?
by Deltawave inthere is a huge difference between been religious and been spiritual.
been religious is about been superior to others in the sight of god.
however, been spiritual is about self awareness, inner peace and unity with the natural world.

DW: You might enjoy this book by Sam Harris:
Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion
BTW, don't forget Jesus also said this, "You are my friends if you do what I command." - John 15:14
That's where the control freakery started with his little cult.

Ok, so I only read the WT study articles to keep up with the indoctrination that my two "still-in" children are being subjected to.
When I read this in today's WT I nearly blew a gasket:
[Naboth] held to Jehovah’s Law in the face of horrific abuse of power. (Num. 36:7; 1 Ki. 21:3) His example thus speaks to us because any one of us may face persecution for similar reasons. (Read 2 Timothy 3:12.) - [Emphasis added]
I gotta' tell you, maybe I've been more fortunate than others, but pretty much THE ONLY ONGOING ABUSE OF POWER I'VE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH IN MY ENTIRE LIVE HAS BEEN FROM THE WTBTS!
I trusted these fuckers and they lied to me, to all of us. How hypocritical of them to write offensive words like this when they themselves are guilty of the atrocities which they denounce?
The leadership of the WTBTS should be held accountable for their crimes against countless millions of people.
Since I've left the organization I've pretty much become an atheist. If there is a "god," he/she/it is certainly nothing like the childish, bronze-age desert god depicted in the Bible.
Sometimes I feel a little cheated that there isn't such a god, for he surely would severely punish the likes of the self-appointed "Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses" for their many lies, hypocrisies and errors.
But there isn't such a god and there is no one to hold them accountable. The only thing we can do is to live our own life and learn to trust ourselves.

Types and anti types
by Deltawave inaccording the watchtower study of may 10th, it has been made clear no prophetic meaning should be given to a a scripture or passage unless the bible itself gives clear interpretation of it.
therefore daniel 7 especially gives it's fulfillment to nebuchadnezzar only.
no future kingdom or 2520year wait til 1914. no gentile times or "this generation".

"... it has been found that some of the older explanations about types and antitypes are unduly difficult for many to grasp." - w2015 3/15, p. 10, paragraph 10
Yeah, like mental midgets such as Stephen Lett!
So let's dumb down the scriptures because a lot of people are uneducated and unintelligent.

Why doe New light tick me off???? Next 2 weeks WT Studies
by zophar inif you have been a jw for 20+ years you may remember that the wt went into great detail on different illustrations that jesus used and the "type/anti-type" ridiculous explanations.
remember the revelation book and how those obscure jw conventions of the past pictured big things in heaven and the opening of seals?
anyway, the wt lessons for the next two weeks do two big things for me.

I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if anyone else has commented on this, but notice the not too subtle dig--once again--at Higher Education:
There were many powerful enemies of the good news, such as the clever and highly educated scribes and Pharisees. They influenced many to look down on Jesus as a mere carpenter and on his disciples as “un- educated and ordinary men.”- w2015, 3/15, p. 7, paragraph 1
- Good guys = uneducated
- Bad guys = educated

Do you think the 'Rama Singh misquote' situation is uncalled for?
by neat blue dog inlet's be honest with ourselves, even if you have an ax to grind with the wts.
i mean, the quote in question was merely a statement of what he believed to be a fact, or else he wouldn't have said it.
there was nothing in the quote (and everyone has the right to make accurate quotes under the fair use doctrine), that even remotely suggested that he was pro-creationism or anything like that.

NBD: Look, the author of the quote in question felt the WTBTS misrepresented his thoughts in the quote. He wrote them and they changed it. They never do that.
I think that pretty much answers your question.

Crazyguy: And does this new teaching really kill the 1914 propaganda ... ?
Ah, yes. The GB are now getting a lesson in the law of unintended consequences and you are calling them out on it.
They make up one bat-shit crazy story and it ends up contradicting all the other bat-shit crazy nonsense they've been pulling out of their arses for the last 100+ years.

I feel like we can trust everything the governing body tells us now that we know they are the FDS."
Every leader of the WTBTS for the last 130+ years has been wrong about every significant thing they ever taught. Everything.
How does that indisputable fact inspire "trust"?!?
This should be a major WTF moment for everyone.
Let's review: It's a cult!
