Are You "Technically" Still A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ineven if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?
your thoughts please..

I'm not DF'd but haven't been to a meeting in over a year and a half. I have no idea what others think. If they don't/can't/won't continue to keep in touch like normal friends and family then I don't really care what they think. Why should I?
As everyone on this board knows, I think: It's a cult!

What, are you suggesting that it is acceptable to live a lie?
Once a person realizes the WTBTS is not what it claims to be, there is only one choice: be real or be a hypocrite. The OP implies there is some "price" which would justify continuing to live as a liar and a hypocrite. There is none.
Ironically, the only way the WT keeps people is by fear. Once you wake up to TTATT, you know that all of the supposed benefits were all false hopes and imaginary pipe dreams.
I resent that my children have been turned against me by their vindictive mother who was aided and abetted by the doctrines and practices of this religion, but I simply could not continue to live a lie. I really can't understand how anyone can.
To be clear, I understand WHY people that know TTATT stay in this religion and pretend to be something they are not, I just don't know HOW they can do it. The psychological damage that does to a person is devastating.

Thanks for drawing attention to those Awake! article on propaganda. They are actually very well written and are an excellent primer on the art of propaganda.
I believe they also are strong evidence that the WT writers are deliberately deceptive and manipulative.

Govening Body and JWN
by John Aquila indo you think any members of the governing body visit this site-jwn regularly?.
how about the heavies in the organization, like the writers, lawyers, and other who work at headquarters?.
for all we know john aquila could be a member of the gb..

Although it does seem that some changes in WT doctrine and policy seem to be the result of comments and criticisms here, I have a hard time believing the GB members themselves spend any time on this forum.
Their narcissistic egos are way to fragile to handle the constant ridicule and attacks on pretty much everything about them.
The cognitive dissonance would be too great. They'd either have a complete breakdown or double-down on the party line: we're "mentally diseased" apostates under Satan's control.
Their public behavior confirms the latter: it is evidence that they are paranoid delusional psychopaths.

That is such bullshit.
When a person has been disfellowshipped, the elders make little, if any, attempts to "recover" that person.
Any WT rhetoric to the contrary is just window dressing.

FMF: They dont want them to know the concequences of signing the billion year contract now do they?
The billion year contract is for Scientologists.
That's too short for JWs, they want FOREVER!

I've read the first two. If you're only going to read one, the second would be my pick. It has less biographical information concerning Hassan's experience as a Moonie and more info on helping yourself and/or loved ones getting out of and over being in a cult:
