Well that just isn't true!
Paul may have given up wealth, but he certainly did not give up fame. As a result of his escapades recorded in the Bible, he is one of the most well known characters in all of Western Civilization for the last 2,000 years. He basically invented Christianity.

Dubstepped: we should all be attacking why the elders are even trying to handle these matters in the first place. Child sexual abuse is a CRIME, not something that elders should even be hearing.

It's delusional that they think they are. The elders of course believe this because they are told they are qualified by the WT leadership, people like Anthony Morris. he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

FMF, yes I read your post about the PSA. I think you're right about it being purely a preemptive legal move back in the day, a CYAPSA!
That's exactly why I asked if anyone ever saw it. I don't know anyone that did. Nevertheless, and as I pointed out above, that PSA is NOT about the real problem of PEDOPHILES WITHIN THE CONGREGATIONS and the WT POLICIES THAT SUPPORT THEM.
I remember back in the late '80s - early '90s when the Catholic church's problem with pedophiles was coming to light. All of us JWs were gloating, "See that proves they're a false religion. We don't have a problem like that!"
Well guess what. JWs have exactly the same problem: pedophiles in their midst, often men with positions of authority and responsibility, and a culture of denial and covering up by the leaders of the religion.
Can you say, "Hypocrites"? I know you can!

Did anyone here ever see that old PSA from 2002?
I was serving as an elder at the time. I never saw it nor did I ever hear about it. That being said, it is really addressing pedophiles OUTSIDE of the congregation, not INSIDE.
ToMo is deflecting the real issue.
Also, that new PSA is good in that it encourages young ones how to react if someone does something inappropriate and makes them feel uncomfortable in any way, but it still fails to address the problem of pedophiles in the organization!
Hey Tony, howze about making a PSA that tells all of the R&F JWs and the elders to report any and all acts of child abuse to the police? I dare you to do the right thing? Can you?

so i went to the rc this past weekend and have a few observations:.
1 - use of videos - most parts had some sort of video prop.
they ranged from awkward (an example was on friday where they showed scenes of nature without a real purpose other than god made this) to very well done.
DB: The only weapon in their arsenal is guilt.
Don't forget, they also use Fear and False Hope.
DB: Again, they can't wrap their minds around why someone would leave or fade so they figure it must be Satan. Instead of taking an honest look that their teachings and the atmosphere of the congregations, they essentially blame the individual that they aren't grateful enough.

No, you gotta love this guy. He actually was one of the biggest reasons I came to conclude this religion could not be "The One True Religion."
