Do you believe Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body is the "faithful slave"?
by Marvin Shilmer inthis question is known to be posed by jws to other jws as an acid test of loyalty.
i'm not the first to notice what i'm about to point out and comment accordingly, but today i felt compelled to add a short article on my blog highlighting the new language that governing body member geoffrey jackson supplies as a response.
a person who honestly hesitates to respond with a robust "yes!

If you were undeniably anointed with holy spirit what would you do?
by Splash inso you have had some kind of supernatural revelation, a personal message from god and some miraculous sign that you have been personally chosen by the almighty, what would you do?.
would you be the same as every other wt'ite, dragging yourself to the meetings, getting your 10 hours in each month, maybe pioneering?.
listen!

Won't get fooled again ...Moon Landing.
by The Rebel inso i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.

TR: You clearly did say it was a stupid subject to debate.
Good, you finally get it. What took you so long? Seriously!
Although I still have this suspicion that you missed the significance of the distinction between the words "discuss" and "debate." But whatever.
You seem to neither remember nor understand the meaning of your own words.

"I am Happy to be Controlled" - Edinburgh Elder on Cult Cart
by cofty inso my wife and i were up in edinburgh for the weekend for the international festival - we had a great weekend including going to see the military tattoo at the castle.. we were walking up the royal mile watching the street performers among hundreds of thousands of others from all over the world when i spotted the cult cart in it's usual spot being universally ignored.
feeling confident after my confrontation a couple of weeks ago we decided to go and have a chat with the two men.
i asked them if they were keeping up with the events in australia and proceeded to share lots of information with them.

Cult Care Elder: ... corrected his friend and said they must contact the branch.
Cult Care Elder: One of the elders responded the he "was happy to be controlled".
Cofty: I asked the elders if [his] 14 year old son ... came to him [in] a few years time and told him that he no longer wanted anything to do with the religion would he shun him. He said that he would.
Let's review: It's a cult!

Remember the two elderly sisters?
by John Aquila inabout a month ago i posted what had happened to two elderly sisters who were reprimanded by a couple of elders for crying because the jw broadcasting was going to be stopped at the kingdom hall and it was up to each publisher to learn how to use the internet.
if you recall the sisters got together with my mom and talked about it and it resulted in all of them declining to make meals for the pioneers.
here is the link.

Sure, tell him that I owe him a big, "Thanks!"
For several years Lett gave talks at the District Conventions I attended. He is such an idiot that I couldn't even stand to look at the Big Screen while he pontificated in his particularly odd and condescending style.
Watching him was was one of the first things that made me begin doubting that this was God's "One True Religion."
I figured there's no way in hell that any sentient being would ever pick that ridiculous buffoon to represent him.

TR: You mentioned quite forcefully that you thought the moon landing was a stupid subject for children to discuss.
It's clear that it is impossible to have a rational conversation with you.
I never said anything of the kind. I indicated that I think it's a stupid subject to debate, referring to whether or not it actually happened.
As a science teacher, I do think it's a great subject to discuss, as your quote from E & T makes clear: "The Apollo Landing is man kinds [sic] most outstanding engineering event, so it's deeply worrying that such a large number of people think the FIRST moon walk never happened."

Misleading The Australian Royal Commission
by mtwtf inhas the australian rc been given misleading assurances that jws will fully comply with laws demanding that child sex offenses be reported to the police?
it appears that way when we look at the background to these assurances.
several jws testified to the rc, that they would have reported all child molestation cases to the police had they had been required to do so by law.

You're overthinking this. They were required to report. Several states in Australia require mandatory reporting and the WT authorities (elders, etc.) still failed to report 100% of the time.
That being said, it was brought out in the inquiry that in alll of Australia there is a legal concept know as misprision. According to this principal all citizens are required to report any and all criminal to the authorities. Again, the WT authorities (elders, etc.) still failed to report 100% of the time.
Over 65 years, 1,006 known abusers, and the WT leadership dropped the ball every time. Every time.
The scope of this failure is simply spectacular.
