The World's First Website
by cofty in25 years ago this week tim berners-lee turned on the first ever website on the world wide web.
basically it was a self-help guide to joining the web.... the first search engine alibweb was launched in '94 and it still functions today.. 4 billion web pages later it could be said the project was a success.. you can read more about the early days here....

Relatives who work in Warwick are visiting
by cappytan inso i have some relatives who work in warwick visiting us this week.
the visit has been largely drama free.
they came between meeting days, so the subject of going to the meetings never came up.. however, they have been talking about the "downsizing.".

Well that's clearly not true. It WT HQ was really downsizing and getting rid of the dead-weight, they'd need to start with these seven losers:

Beards galore at the Assembly
by Truthexplorer inok, at our recent assembly, i noticed that there were quite a lot of brothers wearing beards.
not just the older dudes, but right across a range of ages, young men, middle aged men and older men.
is watchtower beginning to relax this rule at last?

Giordano: how you look demonstrates how much you believe.
Exactly. It's all about appearances, very literally in many cases.

Wow...not even sure this qualifies as a "fade"
by respectful_observer ini'm posting this both as an anecdote and also to see if, by chance, this person reads this site.
(if you do, it'd be great to catch up since you now live fairly close to me!).
i've got a friend who until very recently was actively serving as an elder in hall close to bethel, and on a body heavy with bethelites.

That woman is completely out of control. What a manipulative bitch.
The only decent part was when she said, "You just wanna' be free!"
"Yes mom, that's right."

I know not everyone with a southern accent is an ignorant fool, but that mother definitely perpetuates that particular stereotype.

TE: OK, at our recent assembly, I noticed that there were quite a lot of brothers wearing beards
Interesting! Where was this? (Be as specific or vague as you feel comfortable sharing)
It sounds like it's more likely people are just beginning to disregard the ridiculous and endless nitpicking rules of the control freaks knows as the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses (GB). This IS good news!
TE: Perhaps the GB with so many other issues on their minds right now are less inclined to make an issue of trivial matters such as a man's personal choice to grow a beard!
NFW. See this thread for recent proof of that. It discusses the current outline for the CO's meeting the bodies of elders. In it, the elders are instructed to crack down on publishers dress and grooming, and also their behaviors, body language, mannerisms, characteristics and traits.
Any rumors of a "kinder, gentler" GB are completely mistaken.
Let's review: It's a cult!

2014-12-17-BOE-Children Give Up Your Pocket Money!
by Atlantis inpetra!
2015-12-17-boe already, you dear brothers have done so well, sending gifts both large and small.
for in-stance, two children, five and seven years old, sent their pocket money to help build our new bethel instead of going to the circus, writing, "this is much better than that!

Wait a second! Am I the only one that finds these statements from the"Making a Bequest Supporting the Worldwide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses" just a wee tad ironic?
Likely you have done much to support the lifesaving worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses during your lifetime. Mentioning us in your will can also greatly help this work after your death. - (cpi-E Bi)
So just exactly whose lives have been saved? Apparently not mine, and yet they still want money after I die. Unbelievable!!!
I'd like to mention the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses in my will: "Fuck you, you lying hypocritical bastards!"
There, I mentioned them.

Yeah, they're complete control freaks!
All this probably because they know not many are actually watching the vids they make on jw DOT org.
They are making it mandatory during scheduled meetings. Probably the weekly vids will refer to the other ones on the website. It's all so self-referential in a completely masturbatory way.
