  so since i blew up at my family for being self righteous hate mongers, my uncle sent me a huge letter calling my ignorant and uncaring.

  to which i exploded back with an email.

  may have gone a bit too far on that one, but whatever what is done is done.

  i always took issue with the idea of no one knowing why a person got df.. i know im not alone.. i complained to my mother about this when i was younger, explaining that how do we know what it is that gets a person df if no one knows what they did?

  my moms answer was , .

  'if people knew a persons personal faults and what they did , others would not be so forgiving when they were reinstated, because we'd always view them with that view, so in other words, if when so n so, committed fornication, and the whole cong would know it, if they announced from the platform then his/her reputation would be permanently stained' .

  You do know don't you that they (the WTBTS and local bodies of elders) used to announce the reason that a person was disfellowshipped.

  They quit due to defamation lawsuits. However, it actually works out better this way for the religion: Blind obedience without questions!

  as some of you may know i got tired of being in an email chain and finally lost it and lashed out.

  What the heck's up with the "Luciferian" bit anyway? Doesn't your uncle know JWs don't believe Lucifer was Satan?

  Also, for you to be a "Satanist," there would have to be a Satan. There isn't.

  oh....ok....hahaha...did anyone else pick up on this classic stuff up in the wt for the weekend of 21/22 feb?.

  after speaking about the destruction of sodom and gomorrah, paragraph 6 says:.

  "only lot and his daughters, who stuck close to him, survived".

  WBF: One must wonder how, if he was that drunk, could even perform.

  Yeah, I always wondered that too: If he was so drunk he didn't know he was having sex with his own daughters, how could he get an erection? And not once, but then again the next night?

  I actually asked a couple of elders this question. They looked very dumbfounded and of course had no answer, just mumbled something about, "If it's in the Bible, it must be true ...."

  i'm talking about her actual ideas, not the ideals that libertarianism has adopted and, in some cases, perverted.

  She started what is, interesting, a non-religious cult.

  Of course a group need not be religious to be a cult.
  

  But I was thinking how ironic it is in this case. The very idea of there being a leader with followers is antithetical to Rand's philosophy of individualism.

  I guess it just proves that some people can't help their narcissistic bent and others can't help but adore them.

  there was an awake article about archeaologist who found an ancient piece of art.

  it was sent to a university for dating.

  Are we pro-shunning or against it?

  just to continue my theme about religious freedom and how we approach criticizing the wts, i've also been thinking about 'shunning'.. i think shunning is the most unifying complaint that most ex-members of religious groups that practice it have in common.

  it is the layer that runs under every other complaint - whatever the reason for leaving it seems "... and i was shunned" can be added to it as the final rap on the charge sheet.. of course it seems like a no-brainer to many of us and we hardly ever stop to really think about it - shunning is bad, the watchtower believes in shunning therefore the watchtower is bad.

  they need to stop it.

  i found this statement from a recent article about isis to be quite interesting in view of the way that any jw can be accused of apostasy with little or no possible repercussions or consequences for the accuser: .

  violas: Well Oub, I do know that if you accuse your brother wrongly there are consequences. That is slander ...

  In my experience this is NOT true if the one making the accusation is an elder.
