It's called pareidolioa.
The WTBTS has enough legitimate things to criticize without seeing things that aren't there.

Anthony Morris is a narcissistic, delusional sociopath.
Don't worry about anything he says.

I'm the one who needs to "come to his senses" ?????
by Phizzy ini was in conversation a few weeks back with a jw i have known for at least four decades.
most of it was catching up on family stuff, he has loads of kids, some have married and produced sprogs since i left.
all news to me.. i demolished a couple of his fatuous arguments, and then he decided to scuttle away, throwing this over his shoulder as he went :.

"Wait a second. YOU don't know what the words 'generation' or 'soon' mean, but you think I need to get my head right!?!"
Let's review: It's a cult!

Our Eyes Are Wired Backwards For a Good Reason
by cofty init is often said that our retinas are are an example of sub-optimal design.. a few years ago i was intrigued by a passing comment in one of nick lane's to the effect that this is not a good argument but he didn't go into much detail.. researchers at leipzig have revealed the role of glial cells in transmitting light from the surface of the retina to the cones, acting like fiber-optic cables.. erex ribak has built a model of the eye and demonstrated some fascinating details.... so, the question is - does this reflect good "design" or a retro-fitted repair like the hubble telescope's glasses?.

Morpheus: it isnt a design flaw that causes radiator leaks but normal wear and tear since rubber hoses dont self repair like our bodies.
My point.
The same thing with blood vessels that occasionally rupture (minus the sometimes self-repair part).
The fact that things--even biological things--break down is not evidence of "flaws" by design or otherwise.

Cantleave, I am familiar with the terminology you used. I think it is a poor one and find that many biologists avoid its use as it is often misleading.
Nevertheless, I was seeking clarification because the thrust of your post was unclear.
No need to be an insulting twit about it.

Phizzy: Of course, the lazy, uneducated G.B will never pick up on it, so the guy who does what we see above picks up this Month's prize for publishing B.S.
I'm sure you're right. Even if the tools that wrote the article and cited Bergman know who he is, they are counting on the fact that the average JW will NOT know who he is and that they will also NOT do an internet search to verify his credentials or the lack thereof.

Federal prisoner, child of active JW, could be my grandchild?
by FatFreek 2005 ini recently learned of the possibility that my son has a love child and that this child is in prison.
the child was born in the early 80s.
i learned that my ex-wife and her parents may have paid a large sum of money to the young mother (and others) in order to keep this scandal out of the press and perhaps out of earshot of the local elders.

You have a right to know. Call your son. He may lie to you. Remind him he is an "active JW" and must be truthful in all things. -

Orphan Crow, I appreciate your comments about Bergman's "credentials."
That being said, and we are getting a bit off topic (but only a bit), obviously there are illegitimate diploma mills in the U.S., but a PhD program at a University of California or equivalent is a very rigorous undertaking.
I'm currently looking at a PhD in Learning Sciences from the University of Indiana. Here's the program:
Major (36 cr.)
- P544 Applied Cognition and Learning Strategies (3 cr.)
- P572 Introduction to the Learning Sciences (3 cr.)
- Other learning sciences courses (12–15 cr.). Courses should include a minimum of 6 credit hours of course work on theory and 3 credit hours of course work on design. These courses and the inquiry linkage course taken together must include a minimum of 6 credit hours at the 600-level.
- Early Inquiry Experience
- P573 Learning Sciences Apprenticeship (12–15 cr.). Apprenticeship may be taken for 1-3 credit hours each semester. During one semester, you must carry out an independent research project as your early inquiry experience. The resulting research report must be read and approved by your advisory committee.
- Inquiry Linkage (3 cr.)
- Additional learning sciences course
Inquiry (15 cr.)
- Y521 Methodological Approaches to Educational Inquiry (3 cr.)
- Additional approved course inquiry courses (6 cr.)
- Inquiry methodology electives (6 cr.)
Minor (12 cr.)
The minor must contribute to the integrity of the program. Specific course requirements are under the direction of the minor department. Typical minors include psychology, sociology, special education, curriculum and instruction (e.g., mathematics education, science education, arts education), instructional systems technology, linguistics, informatics, cognitive science, or computer science
Dissertation (15 cr.)- P795 Dissertation Proposal Preparation (3 cr.)
- P799 Doctoral Thesis in Learning Sciences (12 cr.)
If you skip the minor, it's still 66 semester credits. For a working adult, that would take approximately four years to complete. This is more than twice the credits required of my MAED program from a WASC accredited university in the state in which I live.
