If You See A JW or An Elder, Do You Try To Avoid Them?

when i was in a drugstore a couple of months ago, i saw the presiding overseer in the other aisle with his wife.

i saw them and made a conscious decision to leave.

what would you have done in a similar situation??

well i have banged into a few, some jw came to my house and i told them straight what happened to me, and they give me the bullcrap that oh jehovah will hold them bloodguilty etc you should come back, and i said what for more abuse?? and i told them id rather die than live in the new system with those people.

the other day i was in one of the stores i work in im a merchadiser and saw one of the ones that i cant stand a sister and she had her new baby ugh, shes the biggest hypocrite i know, her father used to give talks about gossip and yell " DONT GOSSIP" at the cong when he gave a talk then get this he and his wife and daughter were the worst gossipers out, i know this as i was friends with their cousin and she used to tell me what theyd say about others after meetings grrrrrrrrrrrrrr i avoided her like the plague, i dont live in that town anymore but occassionally i have to releive there and work in the stores ugh and see these loosers.

some people still in i will say hi to if they look like they might be friendly, but im not df or da just faded im not going to let them have the satisfaction of saying oh shes df or whatever theyd love that.

i wasnt the most academic of children although i had some capability but i could read quite well by the time i was 4 years old at least for my age; i have always read as a child and still read now as an adult both professionally (research) and for pleasure.

i have always been able to write too...and pretty much advanced as well as my peers did in school...perhaps i am lucky, i certainly feel like i am when illiteracy amongst adults and children is rife at present...however.. i remember when i was 16 the wts in the uk were pushing through a scheme teaching those who were not as able to read and write...and an elder in the hall made a point of coming to me and suggesting that i should actually attend the training!!

!....i explained that i could read and write well enough and didnt need to be taught basic literacy... he said that i might learn something new and should respect jehovahs order of things and show appreciation...i did decline his kind offer rather abruptly....but wtf??

for me it was this, i was studying and my partner at the time had taken our checkbook and spent our food money for me and the kids on booze and ciggarettes etc and this elder said to me hes the head of the house you need to let him do whatever he likes with the money, so i sarcastically said " ok I will then YOU can feed my kids this week !!!!) that shut him up, hes a creep always was always will be a pharisitical asshole, scuse my french.

yeah dont get me started either, we had a few in my time, most were stuck up and up themselves and only hung around the elite in the congregation, so much for humility huh? there was one

ron carter, hes the biggest ass hole i ever met, i heard they use to call him mac the knife in the circuits, very harsh man, use to give talks saying you wont be saved unless you are baptised, and theres new ones and UP in the audience and kids who wernt baptised, he yelled at me once right in the hall for nothing, cant stand him and his wife who thinks organ music on a CD is demonic so she throws it out * shakes head*

there was one guy who was a diamond, an elder stepping in temp because the co was sick, he was a lovely man who used to fart as we were going up driveways laugh and say who did that LOL

he understood how it is for ordinary ppl,

suffice to say theres no humility, in my time of meeting some i wasnt impressed at all, only one came remotely near to being christlike and hey as far as i know jesus didnt fart at the diciples and laugh, well not that its been recorded anyway LOL

awwwwwwwwwwww big shooter, oh boy do i understand what you are saying, i spent 13 years in the org after having come out of the territory, i remember getting married to my then abusive boyfreind who i had kids to because the study conducter said if i didnt then i wouldnt get into the new system,well after 10 months of that disasterous decision i kicked him out for violence and sexually abusing our kids and get this he wasnt a witness and the PO said i wasnt a good wife and made me have 2 studies a week one in the family book and one in the live forever book, like it was my fault and i should be submissive.WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT i wasnt the one beating someone up.* shakes her head*

anyway i have seen all the things you have said big shooter and much much more, its a very extreme case in this organisation that people are bred to judge and follow the org the elders and opinionated individuals out of fear, peer pressure and sheer guilt.

I can see how you were probrably needing love and companionship and your girlfriend although young was giving you that no wonder you got into trouble you needed each other, sheesh these idiots do not understand human nature at all do they???

i just wanted to hug you when i read what you wrote, you poor poor honey, I have been out for 2 years this coming september and i can tell you this board has been a tremedous comfort to me, just reading what others are going through and have gone through its such a comfort and a support.

i am just about finished reading ray franz book crisis of concience , he was a governing body member and the things he tells of make your hair stand on end, we know jesus personality was not like this, hed see the reasons behind the mistake wether it was weakness or wickedness, man cannot do this my friend he just judges with what he sees not what he knows as fact.

and i beleive jesus and jehovah if that indeed is what he wishes to be known as; do not approve of the dispicable things being done in their name, you gotta do what is right for you, remember Jehovah judges whats in the heart and its what is in our hearts is what will save us, the seat of motivation, only he can read it.

and i dont beleive he will overlook us just because we choose to dissassociate from a organisation claiming to bare his name and yet not practicing the very things they preach, its the same with islam and their behaviour, their religion is invalid because they do the opposite to what their god tells them to do.

jesus himself condemned the pharisees he got right in their faces and told them exactly in no uncertain terms what ass holes they were.

we follow his footsteps so why shouldnt we :):)

yep I agree with all that has been said too, I remember for years i thought about furthering my education but they had brainwashed me so much into thinking that I should really be pioneering and giving my time to jehovah not trying to improve my lot so i could support my 3 children on my own without the help of welfare,looking back i felt so cheated, and before the end when i left i went to polytech for 6 months got a degree and graduated with an outstanding acheivement award and rubbed it in their faces i didnt care.

its all done through guilr using jehovahs name as a way of making us feel guilty, saying oh you should be doing this for jehovah and that for jehovah, trying to get us as far away from normal life as possible, gee wernt we blinded, i am dumbstruck when i think about it and if i do too much my brain wants to fry, good job we have this board because its a tremendous healing thing for all of us who have suffered( some greater than others) at the hands of that organisation my heart goes out to all of you who have been through so much, at least" that that does not kill me only makes me stronger"

Emotional Day

i am having one of those days.

it all started yesterday when i was picking up some work from a client yesterday nearby.

when i walked in the store, the nora jones cd was playing and i became emotional.

awwww puternut I was so moved to read your posts that is so so sad to hear, boy this organisation does some damage to familes, I empathise with you, I remember being in and my 14 year old son breaking his back trying to become a UP and an elders grandaughter the same age( spoilt little brat, and little goodie 2 shoes) was made one one night at the service meeting and i remember my son going to the car and sobbing his eyes out, I think that was the day he began to give up, they just ignored him because he wasnt related to an elder or a pioneer or a CO he was just the son of a single mother who was married when he was born by the way, same with all of my other 2 kids, 2 of them dont talk to me although i have left and so have they, anyway they blame me i think for being in there all that time and the abuse they recieved at the hands of so called footstep followers of christ( well we all know thats the biggest bunch of B**shit ever anyway they are so not like christ.

but I know what you must be going through I havnt seen my son whos 20 now since he was 14, he was so screwed by some witnesses that he went to live with my mother and his father hed had enough and was emotionally shattered from trying his absolute best to meet their standards and it was never enough :(:(

my heart broke when i saw that kid so downhearted, then later on my poor daughter 11 at the time whod begged to go on the school for years and even given volunteer talks was struck off the school just before she was due to give her first talk by this ass of an elder who ran it.

because of something I was supposed to have done( bearing in mind he set me up) she was punished for it.

so even tho my situation is different puternut I still lost children too so i totally empathise with you and my heart goes out to you my friend.

we have to give each other comfort because who else do we have only other x jw understand our pain

so my heart goes out to you and heres some huggs

today at the grocery store , i ran into a lady that has been studying with the jw's for years,,,,,,,, i mean 10 years or more.

she was a prostitute, a crack addict, you name it this lady did it.

she is 40 something at least and is raising her two youngest children, 3 and 4 yrs.

hey dede, how are you doing,its me sunny, i hope things are well for you, yeah i remember once we had this co and he kept giving talks with UP in the audience and new ones and he said only baptised persons will be saved, i remember the controversy it caused but no one had the guts to challenge him, I thought god if they hear that they wont bother coming again and most didnt. what a bunch of loosers they are, like you say at the end of the day its god who saves not man and how dare they sit in his seat of judgement and decide for him..oh man that makes me soooooo mad. you did the right thing comforting that lady dede, after all jesus was interested in the poor and downtrodden not the haughty and judgemental, he even said didnt he that whatever you judge someone on youll be judged yourself.

so im sure he doesnt forget what we do and he repays us according to whats in the heart and what motivates us.

What Is The Stupidest Rule You've Encountered As a Witness?

one rule that i never could understand is that if you were studying with an unbelieving husband, you could associate with him, even as couples, but if a person was considered a "weak" witness, it was best to avoid any association until that person changed......what dumb rule or belief comes to your mind??

how about the rule which is no where in the bible??

50 hours for auxilliary pioneering and 70 for full time pioneers? did you ever see jesus say to the apostles" have you put your time in"???

or make rules on how many hours they could do or when they could go to the loo or who they could walk beside sisters or not???unchaperoned geez talk about strain out the knatt. I remember at conventions them going on and on about dont go to the toilet unless its break time, like we can hold on if we need to go!!! sheesh.

i found that most areas of my life were controlled and like has been said they do your thinking for you, great mind control teqnique huh?

after you read crisis of concience you'll see just how man made they truly are, sheesh what an eye opener that is, im half way through it now and thats the thread thats coming through to me in reading that, its that man made all the rules as to how that org is run and there was a hell of alot of corner cutting and by passing and sheer slackness on the part of the people who were suppose to be in charge geez i have to laugh you know, they lay all that regimental rule keeping on us but when it comes to them they were the slackest of all * shakes head*

My father is reading Crisis of Conscience...

my father dad himself for purely emotional reasons when my parents got divorced seven years ago.

it was a rash decision to say the least.

i re-established contact with him about three months ago.

yeah i have been out for more than a year and didnt know how to get hold of that book COC then one night my boyfriend a non jw was on amazon and he ordered it for me so i should get it soon i cant wait to read it...apparently its a real eye opener

i know that my grandmother died before her time because she refused a transfusion that could have saved her life long enough to see her grandson get married.

i know there was nothing i could have told my cousin back in high school when he said he didn?t want to disobey god by taking blood to fight his leukemia but even more importantly didn?t want to die.

i know i have a cousin whose wife loves him but unlike most couples doesn?t expect to spend forever with her husband because he?s the only one that will be going to heaven.

oh man there is some mighty accountability somewhere huh? I shake my head when I think of what all of us on this board have had to suffer..its a wonder we are all sane...and no one on this earth jw or not could convince me that jehovah doesnt care about or disaprove of the things that were done in his name.
