Isn't it amazing though, that while we we in the watchtower we accepted this mythology as fact. It was written about and lectured all the time as if the myths of the ancient Hebrew tribe which resemble the Babylonian myths were historical fact. I'm reading Hassan's book about combatting cult influence and the striking similarities between what he experienced and what JWs experience is incredible. The sincerity of someone's faith does not make the extraordinary true, no matter how convincing. But the connection between genesis, Ezekiel and revelation with the serpent, lucifer and the devil resides in the realm of the "true believers" only and has no place in reality of the modern world in which we live, love and flourish.

she said something that sparked my attention.
i read almost the whole bible cover to cover when i was a jehovahs witless.. she stated that satan was in charge of the garden of eve as an assignment from god to watch over adam & eve but he became too full of himself.. how in the world do the jws explain this teaching of satan being in charge over the garden?

When I read the title of this thread immediately pink Floyd animals came to mind. The wall is great a little depressing as is all pink floyd (roger wAters)to some degree and I agree it can resonate for an ex JW or fader. I remember out in service a young pioneer sister asked if she could borrow my copy, I gave it to her. Next Sunday the parents presented me a plastic bag with it in and held it out to me like it was doggie poo poo! They asked firmly never to give their daughter any music. So I would say it def resonated with someone in that family. I was slightly taken back...How can they reject this holy writ of sound?! I would say tool has some powerful pyschological music. Recently I've added John Lennon's plastic Ono band album...I've found out, isolation and others especially the song god, wow...that is powerful for me where I'm at right now.

Lots of traffic lights. On the poles and walls that surround this mandetory waiting periodss I would like to place stickers that will say something like: WATCHTOWER INC. PROTECTS PEDOPHILES silentlambs.org SOMESomething that can be read quick and rembered like jehovahs witnesses are a dangerous cult jwfacts.com the sign woukd be in halfone and 4"x5". The problem is I don't have a desktop kust use an ipad and phone I would need it in a downloadable format so I can bring it to kinkos and run them off. the small format provides a challenge I know but I think the talent exhibitted by this forum is up to the task. Any takers??? target audience: faders, bible students and generally aware populace.

A beautifully done film has all the makings of film noir, dark deceptive, graphic, and tragic throw in some trumpet and fire and voila! Netflix it. just saw usual suspects again last week! the new directors cut of bladerunner has a different ending, which I thought was better snm

I don't know if a CO by himself with the objective to speak with a sister, not knowing if hubby is at home is following procedure I wonder if it was just an encouragement call as he said why not bring Mrs. CO? This was not by the book other then attempting to disarm the orwells. However I allow the possibility of good intentions, it would be something I would done but to not draw the ire of the body I would have taken a MS. With me. The three elder bit was a good catch. And I believe a CO can participate in a JC after all he is an elder. It would be odd but perfectly theocrapic, I reserve the right to be totally wrong on that though. Mrs. Orwell you did great, you were not intimidated, thought clearly and were straight to the point without revealing any sticky point that they or he could latch onto. I think the most telling part of the convesation was the awkward moment! Anyhow you set yourself up with a great response ina any further inquiry by saying "ive expressed my concerns with the CO so talk to him"...fada complete. a great example to follow! As an elduh we were instructed to not say anything that old revel our "hand" before the JC and during. Because repentance needs to come from the heart and full disclosure would prove such, not holding anything back on behalf of the accused would indicate that. There was a scripture that was read almost all the time during the JC about covering of transgressions you wont succeed blah blah blah. This was read to indicate the seriousness of the meeting and to open the heart of the accused to reveal the transgression. I was never approached by anyone before the JC. However if I would see them, even right before the JC before the elduhs got together privately, I would on the say to them to read the insight book entry on repentance. I even brought an insight book to one young man right before he was to meet with us and said read it as quick as you can and try to display repentance.
The elduhs meet privately before the accused is brought forth, it's then where the evidence is talked about and cautions are mentioned about not revealing too much too soon. In my JC one elduh, a real company man boldfaced lied in order to extract a confession. I knew it was a lieand I knew my ex wife had told him about it. I had checked up on her story and it was a lie. She had said she went to the store and asked to see the CCTV footage of a certain date which showed me buying something. The elduh then said he had checked the CCTV tape and saw me buying it. But before this I asked the manager of the store to see if that was possible naïf it had indeed happened. Under no circumstances he said. Only the police can see it.
So as my example shows they can lie as part of theocratic warfare during a JC.
Best to just ignore and not go, why give them this inquistional power over you.

MP, your are right, I meant to write shiva instead of the goddess Kali. I remember being in a dark and black Kali temple (kali has a thing for black and red) just after a sacrifice, blood and a goat head it was a little Erie. I dont think gandhi would of helped out in that. What I was alluding to was the hindu trinity, brahma, vishnu and SHIVA, and being a Brahmin priest, and if he worshiped in the brahmin way he Gandhi would have addressed his worship towards this trinity, along with other personal favorites.
As far as behavior of zealots I dont think you have to go as far back to the 19th century. The hindu fundamentalists have quite a presence in modern day India. Plus the Kali worshippers if they did massacre the English and others, they were only doing it because their Goddess told them to. Just like Moses and Joshua and David were told to kill (cue rage against the machine...gotta to what they told ya....) In the name of their tribal god.
Now we didn't hear the divine whisper that Moses heard, but convieniently it was written down for us for our instruction. And how was this example imitated? Judging by human history...kings, zealots and madmen did their utmost to copy their leader.
Now look at the ones who tried to imitate Gandhi. He didn't use a tribal god to justify his actions he used love of life, freedom and principles of nonviolence. Of course he didn't have the benefit of grand promises like the resurrection in case he did want to start killing some pagan babies and old timers! It took 1930 years since Christ to get a Hindu to teach MLK jr., a Christian, how to deal his fellow man without resorting to violence.
Gandhi sailed for days to get to london, the seat of power, to get them to quit India. Christ could have flown to Rome in his sandals and talked with Caeser. Did he? No. Results. 2000 years oppression of and by the Jews, muslims and Christians. Deaths countless. Gandhis results? 20-30 years if that and the British quit. Deathtoll?
Im not knocking Big J he was after all just obeying orders from YHWH.
So nonviolence or violence? Which is better for human beings? If you side with YHWH well it can get confusing! Wouldn't you agree?
