Nisan 14th is April 19th 2008...so something is screwy
14th of Nisan, 5768 = Sat, 19 April 2008
i write all kinds of notes on my calendars, like when i should make my next oil change, my next dentist appointment, my cat's birthday, etc...lol.
i'd say that i already wrote something for just about every month of the next year already .
To get to that date, just click on one of these links http://www.jewishgen.org/jos/josdates.htm http://www.hebcal.com/converter/14th of Nisan, 5768 = Sat, 19 April 2008Oooh, thanks for reminding me! I've got to make an appointment with my travel agent ... that's the perfect time to plan a trip.
as i understand it, drinking in the uk is not as stigmatized as it is in the us.
going to the pub after the sunday meeting is on a par with going to the all-you-can-eat chinese buffet over here in the us.. so, if a person has real problems with drinking, and asks for help, how do the elders handle this?
if they themselves tipple overmuch, how can they be unbiased in rendering judicial matters in this regard?.
I think that the elders would be more afraid of a person meeting and talking to unbelievers in a bar rather than the alcohol itself.

Just incase you wondered when the Memorial might be this year.

most believers think that it's better to practise any religion than to act like an animal and not practise any.. even my dad who used to dislike the jw's when he was alive, told me once, "you're better off going back to that religion, than not practising any religion at all".
i'm a believer like he was, but it's funny how most believers will say that practising any religion is better than not practising any.. jw's wouldn't agree, because they think that only their religion is the right one, even though a wrong religion may have a postive influence on somebody's behavior and happiness.. the only thing a jw looks at is the carrot "eternal life".
they won't look at the good that may come out of practising another religion.. after my jw experience, i won't go to any other religion.
Usually when someone believes in God, they tend to want to belong to a particular faith........
Do you agree with this assertion?

My dad never was a JW. I was the only one in my family to have fallen for this religion. Nevertheless, my dad was a believer. He died last year. Anyways, he felt as if he had to get closer to God, in order to live again. That's why when he saw that I had no more interest in religion, although he knew I was a believer, he suggested that I go to another religion, maybe the "Baptists" like my sister, which I didn't want to do.
That's where he said, "If you don't want to join any other religion, then go back to the JW's".
His reasoning was: Any religion is better than none.

After my JW experience, I won't go to any other religion. My dad knew this, and that's why he told me back then, I should go back even though he didn't agree with their beliefs and especially their way of breaking up families and screwing up lives.
Overall, he felt that practising any religion was better than not practising any, because he felt that you had to gain salvation.
