yes, the jws continue to bleed their young ones, so far in my local kh 3 were dfd, one girl just turned 18 this month and packed her bags and said goodbye to the cult and her cultish parents, another young 18 year old man decided to have a non-jw girlfriend and decided to stop attending and is no longer a witness.
they continue to leave and wt leaders dont give a damn.

I am white and didn't understand black culture until I attended a HBU (historically black university). There I learned that black folks really do have their own culture and it is beautiful. Most black folks are bicultural in that they function in the culture at large (white culture) as well, but it's really cruel to not expose children to black culture and then when they leave and are with other black folks (and let's face it, in America, life is still functionally separate) they can't relate.
That's double culture shock.

Yes, I've actually found magnesium, calcium, and vitamin D to be helpful. I take them separately in larger amounts than an all in one supplement. I tend to test deficient in vitamin D. I also take fish oil for high cholesterol and it seems to help with my mood a little.
The other issue is this perimenopause thing that has just started recently in which I'm having terrible trouble sleeping a week or so every month. And also night sweats. Ugh.

I finally got my 4 year degree at age 37. I'm now working on my Masters degree which you really need in education. I just can't compete without it. I'm woefully underemployed right now.
But, I was out at age 19. The real issue is that the Organization really screwed with my head and my mental health. I had a nervous breakdown at age 18 when I was disfellowshipped and didn't get help for it until a year later when I walked away after being reinstated. I started college part time and worked part time after I was married and that was all I could handle. I finished my associates degree,
Then I got pregnant. I had a beautiful baby and promptly sunk into a horrendous postpartum depression that lasted 3 and a half years. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, postpartum onset. I went back to school part time again and finished my four year degree when my son was 7.
The problem now is that I just don't have any resilience. I have done long term sub positions and they absolutely wipe me out. I need the whole weekend to recover. I now work part time as a tutor and am working on my Masters degree, but I am just exhausted. My son is in middle school and I still have to come home from work and do homework with him. He has ADHD and needs a lot of support. I'm just exhausted and I'm not even "there" yet.
I have finally come upon the strategy of dead silence when anything JW related comes up and its been pretty effective. In fact, my dad has told me that my mom recognizes what I'm doing and it frustrates her to no end.
But, the fact is that there can't be a conversation when only one party is talking.
I used to get angry when my mom spoke to me like an outsider that hadn't lived as a JW all my life, but now I force her to deal with me as a non JW and explain all the ridiculousness.
For example, "Dad and I have applied to go to the international convention in Hawaii!"
Me: That's really weird. Why would you have to apply?
Mom: Well, they want to make sure they have enough room for everyone.
Me: (puzzled and incredulous face)
I have learned that this forces her to think about how whatever she's saying really sounds to normal people.
i have been inactive for going on five years after an accerated fade.
my wife followed shortly after.
we recently went to visit her parents that know that we don't go to the meetings, and it bothers them but they don't know what to do, as they really can't do much.
"So" is a good conversation stopper.
Reminds me of a popular non sequitur around Baltimore (home of the Orioles baseball team) that you throw out when someone says something awkward, and it stops the conversation in its tracks:
