Semi Home Study Based Charter School vs. Regular School
by SonoftheTrinity ini blame my stepkids bad grades in school squarely on the watchtower.
they don't get enough sleep because of the demands of family bible study and thursday meetings but comprimise isn't in my wife's vocabulary.
my stepson has friends at school but there are also bullies, and the classes are overcrowded with sicknesses spreading through them in a way that is detrimental to the family's health.

Oubliette, your Algebra I problem is like one we work on as a bonus problem in the 4th grade! Of course, we just solve it without the algebraic equations, but it just goes to show the level of work that is now expected from younger and younger students. -

I think supporting your child in the charter school program is going to be harder than you think. My son goes to an excellent public school and it takes a lot of effort to help with math homework, English papers and other long term projects. I can't imagine how much more effort it would take to also have to teach time management and project management and supervise schoolwork those extra days of the week, a lot of that being self-taught by necessity. And I'm a teacher! My son needs the structure of a daily school routine.
That being said, if the child is extraordinarily organized and self-motivated and is not currently having academic difficulties, it could work.
I just remember growing up JW that I was sooo thankful to be able to go to school every day, even with the occasional bully here and there.

No... I wasn't mind controlled
by Zoos inthou shalt not stay at a hotel that is not on the rooming list.
work prevented me from attending our assigned district (regional) convention so i arranged my schedule to attend in a different city/weekend.
i know that's not a problem, brothers and sisters do it all the time.

How ridiculous. Maybe they weren't making enough money off of food service anymore. And if they weren't making money, then no one else was making money off of them either.
It's always about money. "Simplification" just means make do with less.

God does exist here is my nonbiblical reason:
by Curious Kitten in(before you read i hope no one gets offended by the word retarted...that s how i thought when i was 13)my mom and dad are divorced and my father never helped my mother on raising us, so basically she was a single-mother.
he just abandoned my three brothers and me and my mother had to work two jobs all of the time so we never got to see her.
when we did see her it was after school, but all she did was yell at us, make food, and leave to her next job.

Curious Kitten, I am so glad to hear that you are in college. Excelling academically makes you feel good about yourself and it seems like you need a good dose of that.
I hope you do take up the idea of therapy. It's been helpful to me personally. Sometimes you just need a fresh, logical perspective on your experiences and your behavior to break through to a healthier pattern of living. I know it's hard to change who you have relationships with, but just add one good, genuine, caring person to your life at a time. Eventually they will outnumber the unhealthy ones!
Best of luck to you! I can tell you are going places!

They slowly heat the water up and figure most frogs won't jump out...until they have blind obedience to a cult...
...but you jumped out early today after that outrageous little dial-up of self-serving nonsense. Good for you!

The pack your own lunch deal happened after I left. What's the reasoning behind that? And, also then, what do they tell the rank and file? -

I think they get free rooms to use for bethel heavies.
They agree to a room rate for a block of rooms and get a few free.
So, the "discount" rate is not discounted for the room renters. The Org arranges to get so many free rooms instead of passing on the discount to the pubs actually renting the rooms.

Curious Kitten, I love your name!
You have obviously had a tough time growing up without enough love. Humans can't function without it, though, so it's no wonder you became depressed. You now, I believe, realize that "self-medicating" with any kind of drug to try to numb the depressed feeling is a bad idea. A better idea would be to talk to a doctor about your depression because it really is a physical illness. It alters the way your brain functions. Talk therapy is a great way to treat it. It is effective and it actually rewires the way your brain functions. Do you have health insurance or access to a doctor?
This is truly a bigger deal than deciding on God's existence. You must be healthy and thinking clearly first.Take care of you! You deserve it!
Also, please consider that Jehovah's Witnesses are a high control religious group. They give "love" with a lot of strings attached. It is easy to recruit people who are depressed and feeling unloved because you are looking for something better in your life and their "love-bombing" feels great. Unfortunately, it is often temporary. Since it is clear that you are very intelligent and academically inclined, use those gifts to do your research on the Jehovah's Witness religion. The internet is your friend! Please research "high control religious groups" in general. Getting involved in them usually sucks more life and energy out of you than you end up gaining from what looks like such a nice group on the surface.
Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Pete Zahut is telling the truth. Hiding furniture legs was a thing in Victorian times. Note how many sofas still have "skirts" around the legs. It's a left over style from that time.
Though nowadays you'd probably qualify for a DSM diagnosis if you got your jollies from furniture legs.

Please vaccinate your children
by Viviane inand remember your boosters as adults!.
currently there is a measles outbreak in the u.s. the outbreak is clustered into communities where parents choose not to get their children vaccinated.
vaccination works primarily on herd immunity.

Do you mean "deaf" due to measles, or did they die?
