I fell in love in autumn so it has a good feeling for me. My husband took me to an apple orchard where they made fresh cider when we were still dating. Then over the years we would go back to visit, until one year there was a big housing development there instead. :( -

Canada may get a new government today
by Simon inthe us elections suck up all the attention (and it's not even at the candidate selection stage!
) but canada actually has a national election today.. first results are starting to come in and so far it's all liberal party.. i think it's time harper and the conservatives got the boot.

So, Orphan, I'm trying to understand the going back to the polls thing. When would that happen? If parliament is all locked up and won't pass any laws?
I mean, the US has had a do-nothing Congress for years since the conservatives have Congress and we have a liberal president. That's status quo here! (Tongue in cheek, guys. We know it's a problem.) However, we only have regularly scheduled elections, so there's nothing to be done until the term of office is up.
Do they all just throw up their hands and call for an election? What would a triggering event be?

Thanks, Simon. I wonder if the reason politics is so volatile in the states is because it's basically a two party system, so if you're in a small party like the green party you never get representation. Hmm...
So, anyhow, you're voting for everybody: PM and representatives. The whole federal shebang!
Yeah, maybe we all should be paying more attention...

That is a very clever political ad! You don't "get it" until the end. Watch it, everyone!
Now, pardon me if my ignorance is showing, but is a "riding" a voting district? Is it determined by population?
Also, are you just voting for prime minister or also representatives for parliament? The US splits those elections up, but I shouldn't assume it's the same everywhere.
And, is it "winner takes all" or is there proportional representation?
I apologize for my ignorance, but in my 16 plus years of education I have never once learned anything about the Canadian government. Pretty pathetic, now that I think of it.

Why oh why would they go outside to try to stop the violent guy?
It's like when you're watching a horror movie and you're thinking, " No! Don't hide behind the chainsaw!"
Like there's no way that couldn't have gone horribly bad!

Sorry on behalf of the US. We do have a bad habit of assuming either everyone on the internet is American or everyone wants to hear everything about Americans.
I hope the liberals get in.
How late till all the votes are counted?

No 'Tight Pants' policy is now official - classed as 'disturbing'
by wizzstick inin short:- tight pants is no longer just a am3 hang up (or is that a hang up on the well hung?
)- brothers who have effeminate body language are flagged up- as are sisters with 'masculine' hair styles or dress- such dress is 'disturbing to the congregation'- the above must heed the (repeated) counsel from the elders...or they get stripped of the right to share on the ministry- however...this will not be revealed (announced) to the congregation.
wow.

I have heard some XMormons say that their beliefs were weird but not as crazy as Jehovah's Witnesses.
I always thought theirs was weirder, with the whole rule your own planet thing.
Maybe our stuff just sounds less weird, Simon because it was our weird stuff and we were used to it.
But, yeah, Scientology is nutty. But, at least they don't believe in the god of the bible.

No way a mainline Christian would care that a man dressed in a "metrosexual" way or a woman had a short haircut.
My husband's family go to church in shorts and tshirts. Even his grandmother wore those polyester doubleknit baggy shorts and a pullover knit shirt to church before she died.
Mainline churches don't care what people wear.
Evangelical churches might be a little different.

Nah, no need for personal observation. Plenty of elegant mathematical proofs.
